Just watched ESPN Classic Boxing, an '03 fight where Panchito Bojado knocked out Frankie Santos in 10. Anybody know what happened to Bojado's career? In the fight I just saw he's 19 years old with lots of talent and they were comparing him to De La Hoya. I read he was later signed to Golden Boy, but he hasn't fought since 2007.
And speaking of "next De La Hoya" types ... Where is Vicente Escobedo?
He ended up being lazy training and after a few hard fights he gave up.
I remember when Leija spanked him. It was funny, people really bigged up Bojado, but he sucked.

yup, he put up a good showing at first, but then faded, doesn't seem to have a strong mental build up nor is he as good as he was first being built up to beQuote:

First of all I agree with you El Terrible Bojado had raw talent but no drive to make himself the best he could be, but David Haye whether you like it or not, is in the top 5 HW's in the world and beats all the rest for me with the exception of "maybe" the Klits. Not sure about them as I think the fight with Wlad is basically a case of who connects on who clean first and with Haye's speed and lack of roboticness I do favour him, Vitali on the other hand I feel causes Haye more problems due to his good punch resistance, but he has started to show signs of decline and I think he may be ready for the taking for a young, fast powerful HW like Haye!Quote:

Look it's simple, you can big up the guy all you like but where is he now? He got beat by an old man in Leija and he faded away. Great fighters don't do that. Fuck, good fighters don't do that.
At least with Haye we have a wait and see factor. Where as with Bojado his career is what it is, done and dusted with little to talk about other than his hype being destroyed by an old man who then went on to get smashed up in his next fight. Who cares.
Amir Khan had a great amature career and looked brilliant beating up bums and blown up has beens and now has a god damn title. Shall I start screaming that he's brilliant? FUCK NO!
And finally at least I have an opinion it's fairly obvious that you just believe what the majority tell you to. That's quite sad, and doesn't do much for your credibility.

Bojado was HANDED the key to a successful career in boxing and he flushed it down the shitter....there are plenty of guys out there working their asses off that never get a shot to be a somebody. Timothy Bradley is an example of a guy who with 1 loss could have just ended up being a journeyman. Winky Wright could have been a nobody had he not gone to Europe and had success there. Bojado was hand picked and he threw it away......as a fan of the sport and just my philosophy in general I think wasting talent one of the most disrespectful things you can do and I have zero patience for those that do it

if you'd actually read and not post blindly, doing a Taeth thinking that your opinion is FACT well you wouldn't be as big of a joke as you are
FACT is Bojado had skill and the tools to have been a great fighter, but if you don't dedicate yourself then you wont amount to anything, there are other GREAT fighters who aren't nearly as skilled but make up for it with heart, dedication, and sheer will
now go back at watching the final 3 minutes of the Haye/Valuev fight cause that's the only time you'll see Haye "victorious" against any of the title holders at HW

That is really quite a pathetic philsophy you have got yourself there. As if anyone with talent has some sort of obligation to fulfill it? For the betterment of whom exactly? How on earth is it disrespectful for them not to to do so if they so choose? In what regard is it possibly "disrespectful"? To you? Not to mention with regards to boxing; It's a brutal business, perhaps he didn't like the mental aspect of training or getting punched in the head for a living. It was disrespectful for him not to just persevere through it and instead underachieve, simply because he was athletic? There are TONS of guys in any sport who have the same disposition, it's very rare that you have someone with freakish physical tools and mentality to hone them day in and out, that's what makes great athletes special. Sure, but my response to that is basically the same. Because other people would kill for the exposure he was getting, he had some obligation to please the networks, fans, or promoters? Boxing is a cutthroat business, of course it's packed with guys who would quite literally kill for all kinds of things, that doesn't mean anything when it comes right down to it. The kind of mental toughness it takes to really go somewhere in the sport is just as if not more important that physical tools, Bojado didn't have this, or didn't care to acquire it. I really don't see how you can fault the guy overly for this, anyone who gets in the ring against semi decent fighters time and again is putting their neck on the line, he obviously just didn't have the tenacity to keep on with the sport. It happens to all kinds of athletes in basically every sport, boxing is just as mentally challenging as they come.
