Shane actually had a part to play. Not only after the JMM fight, but i've seen many interviews where he trash talked FMJ and also brought up his tax problems. It's all a part of the game.Quote:

I don't know what Mosley was playing at. He shouldn't have let Floyd get to him as he did. That tit for tat nonsense about custom made clothes? What is this the battle of the mincers? You expect it from Floyd, but it doesn't suit Shane at all (pardon the pun).
Mosley seemed lost in the interviews at times too and seemed quite flustered. Mayweather brought it way low talking about Mosley's ex, but you know, what more would you expect from a low class piece of shit like Floyd Mayweather? Mosley should keep it together and stop talking about knockouts. If the chance comes then cool, go for it. But he needs to go in hoping to outwork Floyd over 12, I only hope he is still in the kind of shape to do that.
Again, guys are acting like Mosley hasn't been talking trash either. The way i see it, you can't start crying foul when Mosley himself started all the trash talk way before this fight was even signed. Yes I reckon it was a low blow to mention Jin but it was just as low for Mosley to air out Mayweather's tax problems. I really like both fighters but let's not act like Mosley has been a class act throughout this whole ordeal because he has not.

Seriously, you would think some of the people that respond in these threads think professional wrestlers actually hate each other. You know going into any fight the part Mayweather is going to play. And watching him and Mosley go back and forth about suits it was entertaining to me and I don't get any kind of hint that they hate each other, I'd rather say that they like each other.
Think about it Mayweather fought Marquez in a Golden Boy and Mayweather Promoted event. You think it was just a convenience that Mosley and Mayweather had a back and forth after the fight? And there are those who believe that having pro boxers submit to Olympic-style testing for performance-enhancing drugs before a fight is fraught with problems.
Mayweather and Mosley were at the Nokia Theater in Times Square Tuesday to promote their mega match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 1. After some pushing, shoving and hand-fighting during a staged stand-up on a fog-shrouded stage, they seem ready to turn convention on its head. If this fight is as successful as the promoters and TV executives believe it will be, it will go a long way toward determining what the future holds for the sport in the U.S.
And for a sport that continues to fall deeper into the niche realm, moving forward is very important. Nothing will move it out of that realm faster than a strong product in the ring. That means it must be a meaningful match between two highly skilled, equal competitors. And that is what Mayweather-Mosley is.
This match is the residue from Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao going up in flames. Only in boxing can the biggest bout in 25 years disintegrate, leaving mainstream sports fans scratching their heads, and a resulting match being arguably more competitive than the one that blew up. But that is what has happened.
Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs) and Mosley (46-5, 39 KOs) are in the top three pound-for-pound on almost everyone's list. They have been circling each other for 10 years, since they were both lightweights. And Mosley is probably the only boxer, Pacquiao included, who can give Mayweather all he can handle. Therein lies the intrigue and why the conventional thinking about a pair of African-Americans not doing well at the box office will get turned upside down.
Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, announced that within the first 15 minutes of a sale at the MGM Grand box office in Las Vegas Tuesday morning that 14,000 of the 17,000 tickets had been sold. He also thinks that it will set a record for Pay-Per-View sales. "This will be a case where one plus one equals three," Schaefer said. "Three million homes is what I anticipate. We will break records."
Mark Taffet, head of HBO Pay-Per-View, also believes Mayweather-Mosley will top the record of 2.4 million buys that was set with Mayweather-Oscar De La Hoya in 2007. "This could be the biggest fight in Pay-Per-View history," Taffet said. "Floyd Mayweather is the driving force behind the resurgence of boxing in the urban community."
Mayweather is a polarizing force in boxing. But in the African-American community he is popular because of his hip-hop swagger and ring dominance. He calls himself "Money." That braggadocio turns off many, but plays well among young urban fans.
Mayweather's Pay-Per-View numbers have been the strongest in the sport since 2007. Taffet said Mayweather has been involved in fights that have done 5.5 million buys and generated $290 million in revenue. Mosley doesn't have nearly the profile of Mayweather, but he may be his closest equal in the ring - a fast, quick boxer with power in both hands and a good chin.
While Pacquiao refused to acquiesce to Mayweather's demands for Olympic-style drug testing, which included random blood tests, Mosley has agreed to it.
"I've never seen anybody who didn't want to take a $25 million blood test," Mayweather quipped about Pacquiao's refusal.
Mosley has admitted before a federal grand jury that he took the designer steroids "the clear" and "the cream" and used EPO. Mayweather and Mosley have both agreed to Olympic-style random testing for the fight.
"I believe we have a chance to move the sport forward by agreeing to take drug tests," Mosley said. "It's important that everybody knows that both fighters are clean and the fight is being fought on a level playing field."
If both Mayweather and Mosley test clean and the fight does an astronomical Pay-Per-View number, then the sport will definitely take a giant step forward.
Mayweathers plan is working before he even gets into the ring.He wants Mosley to be annoyed so he just goes looking for the ko punch while Floyd makes him miss then counters him all night.

There is no such thing as true trash talk anymore. Whatever happened to the days when someone could verbally abuse without bringing up MONEY? This bores me! Trash talk is what boxing is all about. I personally love it and emplore it to be used more and more often. Theres no better way to build up a fight than have the 2 men genuinely showing distaste and hatred for one another without the whole thing appearing staged

The trash talk isn't for people like us. We're going to watch the fight with or without it. All the hype and 'selling' the fight is for your average household that don't regularly watch boxing or keep up with it. Those people tend to lap this thing up and love to see a grudge match where two people genuinely hate each other.
Is there going to be a 24/7 on this? A bit surprised if there isn't.

I know mate we`re all hoping for a mosley win, personally having seen several clips shane appears more to be trying to restrain floyd from acting the fool and just kinda gets caught up in the whole act

Floyd certainly talks up a good fight saying he will fight toe to toe, but he won't. Shane looked dumb and had to have his managers tell him what to say. Floyd probably thinks he will outbox and out smart Shane with his speed and if the press conference is anything to go by he probably will. :mad:
Mayweather did make Mosley look like a right mug, but I think it's clearly staged or at least overdone. I don't think the thing in the ring after the JMM fight was, but the fact is I don't think they hate each other.
In the shouting after the JMM fight & in an interview with Shane I read, they both acknowledge playing basketball together & Mosley said in the interview (in a Boxing Monthly issue from last year) something like they play together every other week. He said this to explain how he knows he's so much bigger, but it got me thinking, who would really socialize with somebody they couldn't stand every other week?
Anyway, I thought that whole thing was quality, it helps sell the fight & I've seen the video on people's facebook who have no interest in boxing. I thought it was all good, they were careful to not do anything that might get them fined & I think they're just both determined to prove they're the best.
I think anyone who thinks that Mosley will be more up for it is mistaken. Both these guys want to win because it's a legacy & era defining fight, not to mention the wads of cash on the table should they win. It won't be a war, but I think it will be a great fight for boxing fans.
