Hatton DENIES quit rumours
straight from the horses mouth. Sky sports news is pretty much the only genuine 24hour up to date sports news service and they have spoken to the man himself.
He is still very much in training and is currently in early negotiations with juan manuel marquez`s camp

Lol Hatton's biographer was on Talk Sport about 2 hours ago saying Ricky had quit. He said he was 196 pounds at the moment
Not sure who the 'Biographer' was, somebody in my office just told me they heard it.

Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
Yeah he better come back. Hatton better not got out like a punk and deny me that 3rd classic KO by

Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
I dont like the idea of Hatton fighting again but he beats Marquez imo.

Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
Hatton should ideally have a warm up preferably against a Gavin Rees type opponent, then take on JMM. He would stand a better chance of winning. He probably will not do that so it is a big risk to fight anyone after the shocking and brutal KO by Pac man.
-
Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
Not sure if it is smart for him to keep fighting,,,,If anything forget ring style and effects it can have on a career...His lifestyle out of the ring has done him more harm then good....You can't keep shedding 40-50 lbs per fight...that alone will hurt you.....
Ricky has made some money..he has given some very entertaining moments and will probably enter the hall so call it a day

I would prefer this too. A tune up to gauge whether his heart is really in it and to see if his tools are still effective enough in front of an audience. Coming back hard might be a mistake. This is his longest break and coming off one of the worst KO's in recent memory. I would urge for caution, but it's probably not going to happen.

Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours

Then you would lose your money ;D

Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
I agree he should have a warm up against Gavin Rees after that see how he feels and if he thinks he has 1 more big fight in him go for it.

That's your problem mate ;D
Seriously though. I understand Marquez is probably to be regarded as a top calibre fighter but went life and death with Diaz who in turn was then twice 'beaten' and even wobbled (:vd:) by Malignaggi
But then again Hatton has been out for far too long so a tune up probably would be necessary.

196 pounds? dammit, did he ate bacon every morning? Even in my most out of shape moment I've never gained that much weight.

Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
According to this afternoons Manchester Evening News, Hatton IS now to retire. The article has quotes regarding Hatton from his Brother and Dad....
-
Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
Hatton's weight loss system might be worth more to him than boxing.
A CD is certainly worth multi-millions.

Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
Sky Sports News are shite in my opinion. It wouldn't surprised me if they were wrong with this...
-
Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
You can't blame Sky Sports when they have Hatton on the phone saying he isn't going to retire. I really hope he does, it's just total foolishness if he does fight again. I can see him wanting to promote a massive event in Manchester and put all his fighters on the card, it obviously makes business sense, but he's never going to be what he was and would be doing it for all the wrong reasons. And he'd be risking his health too. This is what he looked like after fighting feather-fisted Juan Lazcano a couple of years and 10 000 pints ago :

So hopefully he just puts his feet up and has a beer instead of risking his health.

Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
For the best really, Ricky seriously needs to take a grip of his life imo, his binging ways seem to becoming a little to often if you ask me, more and more interviews i see of him weather it be about his Promoting or general chit chat he always looks a bit tipsy/ on his way to being pissed.
He looks really bad. I just hope we never see him in a ring again.
-
Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
Is Hatton really at 196 pounds? That's a lot of pounds to lose to be in fighting shape. For his health and safety, he has no business getting back in the ring. But it's his body, he will do what he wants to do. We will just have to support his decision.

Re: Hatton DENIES quit rumours
Gave me some of the greatest boxing nights of my young boxing life and opened some top top doors to now watching dudes as random as Hosumi Hasegowa and Guillermo Rigondeux, all the best to him which ever direction he chooses, but you shouldn't look like that after fighting Juan Lazcano....

He was coming off the loss to mayweather and was fighting in his hometown infront of 50,000 fight fans. It was an ugly messy performance the worst ive seen of hattons career but he did go on 6months later to produce arguably one of his best up there with the wins against tszyu and castillo
im beggining to get worried now that ricky is getting told so much he is a shot fighter he may actually be starting to believe it. Infact he isnt a shot fighter, he got knocked out by the greatest 2 fighters of our generation he hasnt been beaten outside of elite level ever

Mate you need to take them Hatton tinted glasses off bigtime, the guy is a piss head, there I said it!! He is close to 200lbs and has been drinking more or less everyday since the Pac fight. He is a mess he is finished as a top end fighter what the fuck is the point of coming back?? He will get beat by most of the top contenders.
Ricky needs to concentrate on his other business activites, he cant go on a 12-14 month bender loose 50 lbs in 12 weeks and think he can compete with the best boxers in the world aint gonna happen, even his brother has said it, his best friend.
