I'm praying for a Clottey win
Sorry to the Pac fans. Pac is an unbelievable fighter, but because of his diva-like demands, the obvious cheating and the fact that HE WON A WW TITLE WITHOUT HAVING THE BALLS TO FIGHT THE CHAMP AT WW, I can't get behind him.
I hope Clottey puts a real beating on him, and I hope Mosley puts a real beating on Floyd, even though I don't see it happening.
I'd rather see guys like Clottey and Mosley get paydays than these guys.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Totally agree. These two need to be toppled, but Manny much more so for me. Him and his camp have been nothing less that extremely dodgy over recent months and I would like nothing more than to see them all humbled and put in their place.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Come on guys don't lose interest for both.
If both lose well Mosley-Clotey is good I guess in reality I dont see any much more excitement in any fighter rather than Floyd-Pac.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Are you guys born under the sign of Taurus? Makes for a great captain for lost causes.:)
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
I could care less who wins.....i just want to see a good fight. I'm looking to the undercards for that though. Clottey isn't going to all of the sudden change who he is and what he does. High guard, not enough punches, tons of excuses afterward. Not sure if clottey could win even if pac wanted him too. Dude just doesn't have what it takes to fight for 12 rounds, or even 8
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
diva or not i'd still like to see pac-mayweather.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
I don't know if anyone else is feeling this but I'm just getting a strange upset like vibe before this one. Pac probably had a bit of a letdown not fighting mayweather, De Jesus is in Clottey's corner and it's at well the mecca of all sports arena's. I'm still picking Pac off of his obvious advantages but i just have a strange feeling Clottey will perform suoerbly maybe this will be the guy who's finally too big and strong for manny.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Personally I dont think CLottey will win, but hey I can hope can't I?
I truely believe that Clottey is a harder fight for Pac than Mosley is for Mayweather.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
I wish Clottey all the luck in the world.
The guy is pure class.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Wow I don't get it, but people seem to have such a strong hate towards ANYONE that proves themselves. Ali, Leonard, Roy JOnes Jr, Whitaker, MAyweather, HOpkins, and now Pacquiao are all hated way more than they should be. Especially with what Mayweather and Pacquiao have done for hte sport, they have made it more popular than even post-defeat Tyson did. They bring a buzz for boxing to the world and they are the greatest fighters in the sport. Who doesn't want them to win and face eachother are doing so purely out of spite, and as a boxing fan you should be ashamed of yourself. Hating somebody purely because some people get carried away in their praises of said fighter is childish. Mayweather and Pacquiao are great fighters who are extremely small welterweights and they could compete with the best welterweights of any era.

IF he had a different mentality I would agree, but Pacquiao is probably hte most determined guy in boxing to win down the stretch, while Clottey has consistently fallen short.
Honestly I think Clottey is the better boxer and I was really surprised when he outboxed COtto, but Cotto was outboxing Manny early. He was landing the far better shots. He just didn't have the durability to hang in there.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
I cant see Clottey winning in any way tonight, he just doesnt have the skills and attributes compared to Pac. I hope he doesnt win actually. It will move the Mayweather fight a little closer.
As for rooting against Pacquiao every time he fights people root against him cuz of his gay deluded fans. As well of how he reacted over the Mayweather saga. But I feel it werent all his fault the Mayweather fight never happened.

Floyd is a natural welterweight. He obviously isn't the size of Clottey, Margarito, etc but those guys are huge for the weight. If the guy wasn't a natural welterweight he would of made 144 against Marquez but he couldn't.
Pacquiao is a natural junior welterweight. The guy weighed 138 for Hatton less than a year ago. He could probably make 135 if he had too.
He has to eat crazy amount of calories to get close to 147 and so far he has always been under.

Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
I'm not!! I like Clottey but I like boxing more and a Pac-Mayweather fight has the potential to launch boxing back into the glory days of old more than any other potential fight around at the moment, providing neither lose that is!!

and it's not gonna happen regardless of if Pacquiao wins tonight, this fight IMO isn't gonna do big PPV numbers, and i'm pretty damn sure Mayweather/Mosley will break a million buys, so due to that the fight wont happen because of money, and the original prob, cause Pacquiao is still gonna pussy out of the drug tests

See I think the fight is inevitable. In fact I'd be completely gob smacked if it hasn't been and gone by the end of 2010. I might be being naive as I want the best for boxing and IMO that would be the best thing that could happen for boxing, but if that is the case and I am just wishfull thinking, then the 2 biggest stars since ODLH have ruined the chance to boost boxing back to where it belongs.

IMO that's exactly what's gonna happen, Pacquiao will retire and Floyd will carry on fighting the Cotto/Foreman winner most likely

Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
I'm afraid its not gonna happen. Pac will totally outclass him. End of discussion.

yea real deep post there buddy

Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Even Pac prays for Clottey. He prays mainly for their safety. Oscar, Ricky, and Miguel could not attend the post fight conference. They all went straight to hospital. God didn't really entirely answer his prayer on those fights.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Not so much praying as thinking upsets are great for boxing.Anytime divas are brought down to earth we all benefit.I think Clottey has all the tools to do it but if he steps into the fire and initiates what it takes I'll eat my boots and do this guy >>:o<<
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Pac will probably win. Clottey is a brawler like Hatton and Pac totally destroyed him. So deja vu.

Honestly, I've watched only one or two of his fights so I'm not going to hassle with you. But in those fights he definitely was a brawler.
Edit: But I've also heard his very defensive fighter so I don't know... I guess I should watch more of his fights then.

I can't believe I missed that post.

Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
I don't get how anyone could argue the best fighters getting beaten is great for the sport. It simply isn't. As much as some people may dislike them right now the fact is that the sport is going through a resurgence on the back of two men, Manny Pacquiao & Floyd Mayweather. I'm a Clottey fan for some years, but I can recognize that a Pacquiao loss would be awful for the sport. A Mayweather loss would also be bad but not quite as bad because unlike Clottey, Mosley at least offers the promise of being a big fight.
But, nothing could be as big as Mayweather-Pacquiao. It has the potential to be the biggest fight since the Ali-Foreman. Yes, that big. If they fight it brings in so many new fans for the sport as well as immeasurable tv exposure. I can't see how anyone could see that as being anything but beneficial for the sport.

Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
I guarantee you no one is doing more praying at this very moment than Floyd Mayweather, and he's praying that MANNY will win. Being that Clottey didn't enter into the blood test demands at all, if he were to somehow beat Pacquiao without having him being tested at all Floyd would be looking like the biggest dumbazz on the planet, being he likely could have done it and made roughly $45 million more than Clottey.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
I'm not a religious man, but Jesus, if you are there...
Please let Manny get knocked the fook out in devastating fashion.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
i guess jesus didnt hear you! :)

No surprises there, another unanswered prayer...
That's why I don't believe in him. ;D
Clottey was like a punching bag in there, tough lad. I reckon he was surprised by the performance enhanced power of Manny, compared to normal boxers. The Verve had it wrong when they sang 'The drugs don't work', because in Manny's case they clearly do. :-X
Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;D
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
the drugs actually didnt worked otherwise we shouldve seen clottey on the canvass.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
To be honest, I didn't actually pray :( Maybe I should have, and Clottey would have actually came to fight.
-
Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Ain't no drugs keeping Joshua down, his toughness exceeds anything that is earthly... but I bet his lower body feels like a hammered steak today. :-\
He looked afraid to exchange punches with Manny, he always waited to make sure it was definitely safe to let his hands go... and with the volume of punches that Manny throws, that tactic will never work.
Now I look forward to Mosley sparking Mayweather...
Please Jesus.

Email that to Joshua, he can use that as an excuse. ;D

will be praying with you on this one!
but i still want a pac pbf fight!

Re: I'm praying for a Clottey win
Clottey was effective when he threw, he just wasn't able to match Pacquiao for the pace it was at.
Clottey did come to win, but Pacquiao's speed and movement was simply too much for Joshua to overcome.

Nailed it right on the nose, bro. You were even right in your last sentence. Clottey DIDN'T fight for 12 rounds. He didn't even fight for 1.
