I am probably more excited for this than you are. Both guys have become very tactical in their approach. I think a lot of the pressure that was on Ortiz for the Maidana fight isn't on him. At the time he was the next heir apparent for the GBP family all focus was on him and his rise. Now that he knows what defeat is, I think he will be able to push himself farther as he has less to lose.Quote:

Sometimes he looks like he's ready for retirement, sometimes he's amazing. One thing for sure... it is not a mistake that he has been this inactive. When he beat Diaz, he was coming for all of the other Diaz's as well. In the business, no one likes a REAL spoiler (Maidana did not get Khan). I hope it doesn't affect Nate too much, then imo it could be a repeat of the Juan Diaz fight. Old vet schools young hopeful.

Ortiz is a BIG junior welter I think he came in at 154 lbs at fight night against Antonio Diaz, he'll be able to absorb Nate's power.
I dont think this is a bad fight. I would watch it. I would bet on Ortiz by TKO....
it looks interesting enough. i agree it would depend on what nate campbell shows up, and also if ortiz has learned from his loss. it doesn't take just talent to become great.
I know it was only three rounds, but Campbell looked old against Bradley. As much as I like Cambell, I think Ortiz stops him.
True, he did look past it, but I also think Bradley has stepped it up a fair bit in the last 2 years too. Few people will look good against Bradley and I see Ortiz being a level or two below Bradley. I can see it being a competitive fight and I'm not sure who takes it.Quote:

Ortiz CAN beat anybody in his weightclass at the same time he is not unbeatable himself. If he just tried to outbox Maidana instead of making it a firefight he could've beaten him. Ortiz has the physicality to be a great fighter.
agree, the way this kid's been written off is pretty ridiculous
Campbell has no business fighting at 140. Ortiz will wreck him. And wreck him badly
Campbell is a better boxer,smarter,has bigger brass and has accomplished far more ...but Ortiz is huge and too young w/power compared and is taking Nates 'name' in this carefully planned showcase type fight...Hope to be very wrong.
on paper it would seem that victor ortiz should romp over the aged nate campbell but sadly fights aren't fought on paper. this is a very dangerous fight for ortiz because campbell, when he's really motivated, can be a dangerous fighter for anybody at jr. welter. one things for sure, campbell is probably going to take ortiz into deep waters (late rounds) and we'll then see what ortiz is made of. i still favor ortiz but campbell could very well upset him if he doesn't come in totally focused mentally.
I'm really excited for this fight. I actually have a feeling that it could turn into a FOTY kind of fight. Ortiz won't quit after what happened last time and Campbell will take him to deep dark places. I think a tough gruelling fight with one of them being stopped late... I just don't know who ;D

Shit did he forget to read the label before he jumped into boxing? He must have missed the part that said, "your opponent will also be throwing punches at you"
I think he really exposed himself in that fight - He might feel like he has something to prove now but that doubt is there for good now. The kid doesn't like getting hit or being roughed up. He showed every future opponent his weakness that night.
Wow are some of you guys kidding ? this is a good match up IMO, there both good fighters with question marks hanging over them, they know this is a crossroads fight, and style wise this could be a FOTY candidate.
