Haye now says only two more fights
I don't get David Haye. He's now saying he only wants two more fights and then wants to retire. What is that all about? What about defending your titles and building up your legacy? But he wants two more fights and then out? That might be a smart business strategy, but what about the devotion to the sport and desire to go down as a great? I have already questioned Hayes heart by pointing out how he only fights once or twice a year, but to say you want to retire after only two dozen or so fights is a bit lame. Maybe it's because he knows a Klitschko fight will be his last? But even if he beats a Klitschko you would expect him to stick around a few years whilst still relatively young to build up his record into something more substantial. But no, the man wants out. :-\

Re: Haye now says only two more fights
Haye says and draws tons of shit on t shirts.....then fights the likes of valuev and ruiz. Who cares ? Two more fights yea i remember the good ole de la hoya exit plan too. How bout fight someone people will give a crap about then threaten to leave this sport needed so badly by you.......give me a damn break.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
Same with all boxers. He'll retire, then suddenly realize that sports cars, jewelry, mortage payments, ect ect tend to drain ones income.
And then he'll be back.

Hahahaha yes so true , and remember b-hop , retiring at 40 as a promise to his mother lol.
Face facts most boxers talk utter crap.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
He aint retiring, Haye loves the lime-light too much to even consider that right now. He is merely claiming column inches again. I dont have a problem with that as it keeps people reading about him and interested. He is just reaching his peak, America have probably just started to take notice, he aint going no-where.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
Not a good sign when a fighter is talking about retirement and only wanting a couple of fights - doesn't show much love for the game.
He would have to beat Ali and Holmes ;D in those next 2 fights to ever be remembered as a 'Great' heavyweight.
IMO he needs to beat both Klits and then have 3-4 successful defences and then he gets his props
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
Retire. Take a few months break. Self-Promote. Create a Hype. Fight again.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
I remember Evander Holyfield saying he was going to retire before his first fight with Bowe.LOL
When boxers say they are going to retire at a certain date that is the head talking but then the hart rules them for better or worse.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
looks to me if that is true that he has no confidence in beating the klits and is just looking for a cool few million to retire with.... hey its good money if you can get it... i'd let them beat the shit out of me for 15 Million also ;)
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
With Hayes fighting style (speed, power, reflexes), he might be done after a couple of years. He might not be able to do what he does now in 2 years or so. He is no John Ruiz.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
there's only 2 fights in the heavyweight division worth having, Wlad and Vit.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
yes but you may as well sandwich the Klits with a couple of easy ones at least - if it guarantees 10 million then fuck it why not
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
Sounds like a Haye tactic to get the Kitschkos into the ring if you ask me.
He has a plan.
Part 1. - Mouth off as much as possible and pull stunts so the world takes notice.
Part 2 - Get a title shot
Part 3 - Win the title
Part 4 - Fight and beat a well respected Heavyweight who has loads of experience
Part 5 - Say anything he can to bait the Kitschkos into a fight.
Part 6 - Beat both Klitschkos
Part 7 - become king of the world.
He's already done 1-4
-

I honestly believe that that is the genuine plan of the haye camp. I hope he can pull it off.

Haye is a lot more calculated than many give him credit for. He's not just a pantomime loud mouth. He never says anything that doesn't have an underlying reason behind it.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
I remember the plan to get Enzo Mac into the ring. Complain about a problem making weight, then laugh when Enzo and Warren realise you've mad weight easily. So easily in fact that you're sipping a coffee as you're being weighed.
24 hours later, you smash Enzo to pieces. Great plan.

Dude - The Klitschkos are itching to fight Haye, Haye doesnt have to lure them into the ring....They want his belt. All Haye has to do is stop running and sign the contract.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
been saying this for years now, even had it as my siggy for about 2 years
David haye enjoys the life of being a boxer rather than actually being a boxer. Guys like hatton were born to fight and just love being in and around a boxing ring.
Haye on the other hand has your standard buisness ethic. Get in get out, dont ask questions
Shame really, he could bang out both brothers in his last 2 fights and he still wont have any legacy to leave after 26 fights

How is haye running when he already signed the contract and would have already fought Wlad? history lesson needed?
Haye isn't the only fighter ever to sustain an injury in training and have to call off a fight or ask for a postponment. Was floyd scared of marquez when he got injured?
You yanks need to quit the jealousy. It's like a broken record.
-
Re: Haye now says only two more fights
To be honest I don't think he has any intention of retiring any time soon, but if people think you are leaving the game you have more chance of selling more PPV's next time around. I'll guarantee Haye is still fighting after he turns 31 which is the age he keeps threatening to leave.

I think he's only done 1-3. Who's the well-respected heavyweight he beat. Ruiz? Valuev? Nuh-uh.

What exactly are you talking about? You do realize it wasn't a 'yank' who wrote that post, right?
And fights get postponed all the time after an injury is sustained. Why is it the fight completely evaporated?

1st off, sorry, the american flag next to hunters name confused me into thinking he was american
and 2nd I believe haye did ask for post ponement but wlad went ahead and signed another fight.

#1 He asked for 1 postponement and then another and then all the shit hit the fan about Setanta and Wlad realized the guy was just delaying him
#2 What happened with Vitali? Valuev was the easier fight and that is THE only reason he took it

I don't get it either. The logic seems to follow that American boxing fans, who as boxing fans should love to see a resurgent heavyweight division, are defending or picking a couple of Eastern European automatons to win a fight against a British boxer because they're overly nationalistic and jealous? Makes very little sense to me. It's just an easy way to dismiss reasonable arguments without actually trying to refute them using those tricky facts.
But then again, I'm just a simple Canadian so maybe I don't understand...

Maybe you can find someone there to teach you how to use a fucking comma properly. I'm sure there will be a handful of philosophy majors manning the tills, they should have some experience with writing.

Seeing as how I'm American that pretty, much means I own the world and put the damn com,ma where I want and it's automatically, correct. The nice thing about imperialism is being part of the empire.
