Calzaghe making a possible comeback Reid possible opponent haha
Calzaghe is a great fighter but his career was over shadowed by his crappy resume, but I don't no if this is true but over on the Scene it says he could be making a comeback and the possible opponent is no other than the three year retired Robin Reid who he should of fought in a rematch over ten years ago if this is true it is unbelievable.
Calzaghe has gone from unknown fighter in his prime to being more in the spotlight at the end of his career to then retiring, it seems to be he craves the celebrity recognition/spotlight from what I have seen of him since his retirement, if he comes back which I thought there was always a good chance If it is Robin Reid haha I will piss myself, that fight should be for some sort of charity gig for tv like Comic Relief.

Where's the link Skel, is this for real?
I'd love to see him back, still a legend in my eyes, the coke addiction has just made him a whole lot more real and likeable.
He's one of the people imo. Good luck to him.

He's not a cocaine addict, he's a recreational user. There's a big difference. But I do agree, it has made him seem more human and more likable.

I had a feeling that as soon as the connects stopped fronting Cokezaghe his comeback wouldn't be to far behind

I don't think a drug user personally makes them more likable but I think someone like Calzaghe multi millionaire national hero sporting icon etc etc, who is recorded talking about doing a few lines is quite funny/surprising and makes you see him in a different light, I don't think any less of him if he does a few lines now and again I don't see the problem, people can go on about people ruin there lives and get addicted etc etc on that stuff but so do gamblers drinkers and similar things but that's life. That is just my opinion and I respect yours.

These guys never know when to just leave this sport alone....i'm not sure about fans across the pond, but he'd be lucky to find five people over here that will care either way.

It's not because he's a drug user, it's because he's a flawed individual just like the rest of us. I personally can't stand cocaine and I can't stand being around people on cocaine, but if someone wants to use it recreationally then I have no problem with that. It's illegality is the primary reason for many of the problems associated with it.
Calzaghe being a bit of a washed-up has-been makes it easy to like and relate to him. He's no longer an arrogant, cocky person superstar. I think some people, myself included, find it easier to cheer for people that they can relate to.

Well Calzaghe loves to beat up on old past it fighters so I would look at Calzaghe before Reid.

It's like he's stepped out of a Dickens novel, or he's an heir to the Earl of Shaftesbury :p

Re: Calzaghe making a possible comeback Reid possible opponent haha
Eubank Benn three on the under card anyone?
-
Re: Calzaghe making a possible comeback Reid possible opponent haha
The only people Calzaghe should come back and fight are Froch or Dawson.
-
Re: Calzaghe making a possible comeback Reid possible opponent haha
I sort of agree with ICB. I laughed reading cocaine has made Calzaghe more human and likable.
Calzaghe is just a clueless human being like everyone else on earth, it just so happens he's a talented boxer.
He is not better than you.
-
Re: Calzaghe making a possible comeback Reid possible opponent haha
I hope he does come back and fight but surely Reid is a joke? I'd pick him over Dawson, Pascal, and I dont see anyone at SM that would be too much trouble for him! :)

Re: Calzaghe making a possible comeback Reid possible opponent haha
Anyway forgetting the drug use for a moment, surely this has to be a joke ? why bothering coming back for a fight like that ? hell you might aswell rematch Sakio Bika atleast he's still a live fighter, or fight Lucian Bute.
God only knows how much i'd love to see one of my favorite/current fighters, aka Lucian Bute give Joe Calzaghe his first loss.

That's exactly the point mate. If you met him on a night out he's just as likely to be trying to score and then sharing the bathroom table with you, to me that makes him one of our own.
I don't care less about cocaine use, I mean the last time I took it was last year when an ex came over all high and we both snorted a line off my computer desk before I put the rest on my cock.
I'm not a drug user, but she is a bit of coke head and I had a great time as a result. If she wasn't high she wouldn't have let me do half the things that she did which is why I support drug use.
Calzaghe is ok with me.

Like I said before, all Calzaghe seems to want to do is do drugs and bang whores. I seriously fail to see the problem. Calzaghe is welcome at my house any time

You really shouldn't be surprised that a fellow human being shares your interests just because he's a talented boxer.

I'm not suprised, we are all just people, but celebrities have unrealistic public images that present them as somehow different and above us common lot.
When you see someone who is just the same it's endearing imo.
Imagine if Princess Diana was revealed to have taken cocaine. Now in reality, it's highly likely she did, I mean a rich girl in that world she almost certainly would have been exposed to it, and the kind of personality she was I can easily imagine her having had it spread on her lips more than once.
But if it was revealed, it would shock the world, or at least the papers who would have a field day with it.
In reality it would just make her a normal person but I can imagine people like Ice thinking it meant she was a shameful mother and a whore.

Have you ever made a post that doesn't contain some analogy/story comparison to reinforce your obvious point?
You probably deserve an award for it.

You can't lecture effectively without giving your subjects images and pictures to visualise.
And I make it a rule to never say in a sentence what can be extrapolated into a paragraph.

It's lowered his inhabtitions, but that just means instead of merely thinking stupid shit, he actually comes out and says it now.

I actually agree with Ice too. There is nothing more human and likeable about a guy off his tits on coke. It's an unpleasant thing to be around IMO.
I would much prefer a clean Calzaghe trying to do some good in the world rather degenerating like the rest of Britain.

Good for you mate...I know you are a young guy and to have a clear head about abusing drink is great...Not too many or should I say not enough young guys are that aware...
With that being said IMO the comment about him being more likable was just sort of saying it tells you Joe is an average guy not above reproach like any of us...

Joe "tootsky" Calzaghe vs Robin "Porno" Reid, we gonna party like its 1999.

No your not. I wasnt a big fan of him to start off with and now with the cocaine thing definitely not a fan. Doing drugs doesnt make you part of the people it just makes you a drug user. And for anyone to say it makes more people relate to him coz he seems more real now then I guess we are saying the majority of people do drugs? And dont give me that shit "just a recreational user", its like people who only smoke when they are drinking and claim not to be smokers...if you put a smoke in your mouth, light it and smoke it your a smoker and alcohol doesnt effect that.
Thats my rant done ;D

All I wanna see Joe do is make a mockery out of Froch then he can fuck off back to retirement for all I care! Carl Froch being beat up worse than Lacy! How fucking cool would that be..

If true i can't see him Fighting Reid.
Maybe the winner of the super 6/Bute
No Way he'd get down to 168 anyway.
Think he will comeback though and he has only been out for just over a year.

If he comes back he is going to get sparked. His punch resistance has gone! He said himself that if he had've carried on he would probably have got knocked out.
Stay retired!
