Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
Just read this on boxingscene. Schaefer says they could do up too 4 million ppv buys, as this fight is the most heavily promoted of all time. Where I think anything is possible I think this is a bit much, but who nos. I would of thought just under the 2 million mark myself, about 1.7-1.8. But like I say anything is possible

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
Is that local PPV buys? As in from the US.
It's not on PPV here and I'm sure it would get quite a few hits if it was. I'm guessing they don't count those.
I'm just curious in general, not particularly this fight!

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
No way it goes 4 million. I agree under the 2 million mark though.

I assume they mean local buys. that's normally the case. I can't believe where getting it for free (good times)

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
I'm thinking 1.9, no way it does 4 mil.
-
Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
Can u imagine if they did do 4 million buys, that would mean over £200.000.000 In ppv revenue alone (unreal). Really can't see it tho
-
Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
Why do they state such dumb figures? It's not gonna increase sales or anything. Stupid.

Schaefer?Guys at GBP has ZERO credibility...;D

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
This is probably the only fight ever I am hoping is less then anticipated, whatever the numbers. And the reasoning for that because after Mayweather wins it, and if the PPV numbers are very high, his incredible ego will make a Pac fight negotiation impossible.
-
Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
I know Schaefer was right when everybody laughed at him when he said Mayweather/Marquez would do a million but this is really silly. But I do think his words were taken out of content from that boxingscene quoted excerpt. I can't really see someone making that much of a fool of himself on purpose.

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
ha - 4m....that makes me not want to buy it....Maybe I will just watch it for free online......

Maybe neither Pac or Floyd want to fight each other.

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
Is it really that hyped??
You just have to look at the main board imagine this was Mayweather v Pac?
Yes it's a big fight but 4 million fuck off.

A bit off topic i know but I watched KOTV tuesday night and they did a preview of the fight. It showed an interview with Floyd and asked him about the fight. He said "well it was second choice really because I wanted Pacquiao, but he refused a $25 million blood test" ;D made me chuckle lol.

I'm thinking if Ali-Frazier I or Ali-Foreman was held today, it would approach that number, but not this fight even though it is a superfight.
I'm thinking 1.5 or 1.6 for this fight.

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
I've noticed that the UFC have decided not to go head to head with Floyd this time though after they lost out in the PPV numbers last time around.

A wise decision from Dana White. I wonder what PAC mayweather would do
Job biscuit (don't be blinded by the light, the light itself cannot harm u ,it is what is beyond that light that causes u most harm)

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
It won't make 2 millions neither I am certain, I would say something around 1.6-1.8 would be more realistic.

On the back of that Skel, I guess it begs the question would Pac v Mayweather have done close to 4m

I think to get 2 million would be a big ask never mind 4, to be honest what do you reckon mate?

It really does depend if they made it PPV universal and not just the States. If it was universal then that fight i would expect to generate close to if not over 3m at the very least. Just stateside i feel it would certainly pass the 2m mark.

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
Are they counting heads per movie theater? I would think that the fact that it is at the movie theaters that the number of PPV's would be lower than normal. They obviously aren't making LESS money, but the numbers would be down.. strange.

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
Do Sky ever put fights, which don't involve a British fighter, on PPV? I can't think of the last time they did. All of the PPVs I can remember have involved Bruno, Hatton, Khan, Hamed, Lewis, Haye but I am sure, without doubt, they'd put Pacman vs Floyd as a PPV. They sold 1.2m in the UK for Mayweather/Hatton but I reckon, personally, they'd beat that.

I reckon PAC vs mayweather would do well in England. Overall tho I think ppv would be so much higher if it wasn't for all the free streams on the net. Plus u no the fights gonna be on YouTube within a week. It must stop people parting with their mular.
Job biscuit ( I mean is this really apropriate, we've been down this road before, and we all no how that turned out. Think about it, do u really want this for urself)

Tyson used to be PPV in Britain. I'm guessing under two million for the PPV so that probably means it'll be over 4. Maybe over two but I can't see it. Schaefer knows what the advance orders are though so if he's saying 4 maybe it's tracking to beat the record and he's trying to boost it so that it beats the record. But I'll eat my hat* if it does over 3.
*"Hat" to be defined at a later date should it do more than 3. Perhaps a chocolate cake in the shape of a hat.

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
Floyd belittles Pacquiao's PPV numbers | ABS-CBN News Online Beta
MANILA, Philippines – This early, Floyd Mayweather Jr. appears to have set the tone for difficult negotiations on a possible fight against Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao.
Mayweather, who is fighting welterweight champion Shane Mosley on Saturday (Sunday in Manila), said Pacquiao will have to hike his pay-per-view (PPV) numbers before demanding a bigger slice of revenue in negotiations.
"I'm a boss, I only talk to bosses. He need to learn how to do numbers like I'm doing. What did him and Marquez do? Like 300,000? 400,000? Congratulations, he needs to step his game up,” the former pound-for-pound king told BoxingScene.com.
Pacquiao’s fight against Joshua Clottey last March has generated 700,000 PPV buys. HBO PPV's Mark Taffet said a non-American title fight usually doesn't exceed 400,000 buys.
“I average 1.3 [million] with ease,” said Mayweather. “I'm not worried about this [Mosley fight], I know I'm going to do crazy numbers. I should walk away with about 40 [million],"
The outspoken boxer claims he doesn’t stand to lose anything without a Pacquiao fight.
"With or without Pacquiao, I'm still going to be able to go out and make $20 or $30 million a night," he said.
According to a report by ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael, Pacquiao has generated 6.25 million buys and $320 million in revenue in 12 pay-per-view fights.
Bulk of the numbers came from his last 4 fights: Clottey, Miguel Cotto (1.2 million buys), Ricky Hatton (800,000 buys), and Oscar de la Hoya (1.25 million buys).
The camps of Pacquiao and Mayweather are expected to return to the negotiation table if the latter wins over Mosley, the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion.
Pacquiao holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight crown aside from owning the distinction of being the only boxer to win 7 world titles in 7 weight classes.

Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
A claim of four mill from the same guy who thought b-hop/jones was a good idea is pretty funny.
-
Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
I actually think this fight will do 2.2 mil no where near 4 bout I think it will do 2.
-
Re: Goldenboy thinks 4 million buys possible
I hope this fight does very well because I think if it does Arum will see the business sense in a PBF-Pac fight (as far as I'm concerned that old cunt is the only thing holding that fight up). I doubt it breaks the PPV record, but if it does that will be fantastic.

Really? I just cant see it being anything but a stumbling block. You know PBF is going to want a bigger piece of that future pie then 50% if theyre really high, and I just cant see Pacs pride allowing that. I really do hope Im wrong. But then again, I got a name change bet on PBF winning against mosley, whilst seriously hoping he gets KTFO. :p

It isn't the fighters holding it up in all honesty, it's Arum. GBP & Al Haymon were able to get Floyd to negotiate with his demands. In contrast, Arum made absolutely no attempt to get Pacquiao to do the same, which he did when the prospective fight was against Hatton & Cotto. Arum will only do it if he's convinced there's enough money in it and he has enough time to promote it.
As stubborn and prideful as the pair of them are, they've both demonstrated that they're willing to be flexible when advised by others. It's just fucking Arum, and as usual, he's somehow got away with it.

i see where ur coming from, i dont see the fight getting made unless its a straight up 50/50 split. its an ego thing. its strange cause i want mosley too win tonight, but i no if he does it takes the shine off a mayweather vs pac fight. although saying that mosley pac would be a great fight also.
job biscuit (ive seen some strange things in my time, but the strangest of all was on the night of the 11th of may back in the 1920's, that my friends will live long in the memory)

you know.. dela hoya is such a cunt. 4 million? is he seeing double now? haha.. the same guy who said pac never hurt him and came out saying pac hits like a welterweight after the steroid speculation. the same guy who thought jones-hopkins would be a blockbuster. add jones and hopkins age and its almost a century.

He also said floyd vs shane would end in a KO
