Colin Hart is a cunt.
I like him because he doesn't try bumming British fighters. Before the Hatton-Mayweather fight pretty much every other British writer was saying how good a chance Hatton had, Hart just said he didn't expect Hatton to do much against the best fighter in the world and he was right. He says what he thinks rather than what people want him to say.
Must admit it was funny when 70's Geroge Foreman told him to "put that cigarette out or i'll ram it down your throat" ;D
us $260 million is insane amount of money :o
I also just read that Roach said the fight will happen and they will go to 17 days cut off for the blood with urine everyday up to the fight, the video was on youtube but it has been removed.
Writers and Promoters just don't get it!
There won't be "ANY" PPV's that break the 2 Million PPV Buyers (Television) with today's technology.
How many of you actually bought the Mayweather/Mosley fight?
It's crazy money and unrealistic considering that economic times are hard and like you say, people will often use streams to watch fights.
It's an important fight and it needs to be made, but I find all the talk of potential yields to be quite boring. Who really cares about the gate of a fight besides the money hungry fighters and the promoters? All we should care about is that we get a fight. Mayweathers retirement pot is something I have no interest in. And Pac's too for that matter.
It would destroy 2 million buys. Easily. And go on to break any previous record set, that being PBF/OLDH. Again, easily.
Get with the vibe man. People from all sorts different demographics who have never once bought a PPV have been saying for a while now they'd gladly throw down the money to see this, above and beyond your typical boxing fans.
I have no idea the full extent of it, by how much, but it will easily eclipse all modern day PPV records.
Bearing that in mind, I'm still skeptical it will be made.
Get with the vibe? What are you? Some kind of hippy? ;D:p
No doubt it does very well, but as we saw with Mayweather Mosley they make up the predictions and they inevitably fall short. I can see this doing very well, but 180 million is bonkers money. Maybe it will and maybe not, but I will be surprised if it manages that.
If it does 3 million PPV buys it'll make $180 million. Then you have the Vegas money, sponsorship, foreign TV money. Maybe close to £180 million. The fighters could make around £45 million each, Floyd would make more due to the fact that he's one of the promoters. The question is does Manny want to risk spending nine or ten rounds getting battered in the biggest fight in history? That's what he'd be remembered for in future, it would tarnish his previous career to a large extent. If he feels he's got enough money he can retire or he can make unrealistic demands, blame the collapse of the fight on Floyd, fight Margarito in a Texas farewell and top his pension up by ten million or so. I wouldn't believe anything Roach or anybody else says right now.
I'm not confusing anything. I'm telling you if the fight gets made it will destroy the PPV record.
I get your angle, we've had this discussion before...that there is internet piracy etc. But was it not before the last time my prediction was one of the few correct ones, higher then every one elses? Like say, Pac/Cotto?
I was hoping that Floyd's win would keep the Pactards away for a couple of weeks at least.
Just out of interest, would anybody here not pay for the PPV if this happened? I've never watched a fight on a stream but the impression I get on here is that the streams crash or get took down a lot and the quality is bad.
If that's the case then no way would I risk not buying it on PPV, this is the biggest fight of our generation. So big in fact I'll max out every credit card I own to actually be at the fight, let alone stumping up a few $$$'s to get a perfect reliable picture...
The vast majority of the potential fight-viewing 30 million American HBO-subscribing customers wouldn't know what an internet stream was if it injected them in the arse with PEDs. And if they do want to watch the fight they want to watch the fight on their great big telly, not on some shitty blurry choppy two inch by four inch screen that could get shut down at any minute. Sixty dollars may seem a lot to somebody from a country where that's the average monthly wage but it's fuck all to an American who wants to see something.
Sit back relax the fight's gonna happen. It's pretty much guranteed. One thing is king above all and that's money ! And there's too much of it involed in a fight between those two. Screw the test there are probably some mafia types heck even some shady advertisers that would be willing to sneak in tie pac down and give him the test before they'd let this fight not happen. But forgetting all that. Man i just keep thinking shit it just want some. Hell if they gave me enough i'd even promise to give you all some.......well a little at least.
That would be 266 million US dollars. That's what I got from an online converter.
Not bad at all.
The 2 fuckers should do it at the stadium so average Joe fans like myself can see them fight. The high rollers and celebrities might get the best seats in Vegas but it's fans like us that are filling their bank accounts by supporting them and paying for the PPV fights, the least they can do is make possibly the biggest fight of this generation more easy access for the fans to see live.
