Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Mitchell will probably start with a gameplan to keep Katsidis at bay. How spectacular the fight is will be determined by how quickly Katsidis can force him into a tear-up. Either way it is a great match-up and should be a seriously entertaining fight.
Mitchell by KO 8-12.
I've seen a few "experts" predicting Khan will stop Powderpuff. I'm surprised by this. Will Khan's flurries be enough to stop a proven world-class guy with a very solid chin? I'll be surprised. Powderpuff is in his hometown, feels disrespected that he has been picked as a showcase opponent and is coming off a good win.
Khan PTS.

Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
I'm one of the guys who thinks Khan can get a TKO. Sure Cotto or Hatton both couldn't force a stoppage, but they don't have the speed Khan has, and he can easily force a TKO just by blasting out a 10 punch combo when he has Paulie rocked or against the ropes. Infact I'm willing to bet Khan will probably put on a bigger beating than Hatton.. purely because of his speed, once again. Paulie was faster than both Hatton and Cotto and therefore didn't receive half as much punishment as he might of had he been the slower man.
-
Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Just can't see Mitchell doing it - Katisidis by TKO around the 10th
And even Khan's chin can handle Paulie's best shot - surely ??
An easy UD for Khan maybe a towel coming in like with hatton fight late on
-
Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Paulie has a good chin. I wouldn't say great as Hatton had him hurt and NGoudjo had him hurt. I know both are fairly big/strong light-welters, but still, he can be hurt. Khan should land fairly cleanly on a few ocassions and he has power. If he can land with flurries then i can see a stoppage and i can see Paulie hitting the deck at some point.
Of course Paulie could just confuse Khan and maybe even come close to outboxing him. Quite an interesting fight.
Katsidis - Mitchell should be very good to watch. I reckon Mitchell, but i think he'll have to go to the well.
-
Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Both great fights and intriguing matchups.
I think Mitchell will box smart outpoint Katsidis to win a clear, but tough victory. I don't think it will be as exciting as expected though, I think he will be cautious and not get drawn into a brawl. Wouldn't suprise me to see Kats get cut up though.
Kahn against Paulie will be a decent fight. I think it's a 12 rounder for sure and I think Khan wins a decision thanks mainly to his speed but Paulie won't be outclassed.
Of the two fights I think it's more likely that Khan will be upset by Paulie than Mitchell coming unstuck to Kats.
I just think Mitchell will box the way he did against Prescott and win the fight without too much trouble, Kats is pretty overated imo.
Khan may well find Paulie is a big jump in class and could be in for a boxing lesson if the Magic Man fights to his best.
I expect both Brits to come through however.

Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
kevs gotta stick to his gameplan for 12rounds. Dont allow katsidis room to manouvere and get his shots off, stick behind the jab and work his opponent around the ring constantly forcing katsidis to do the work.
If he can do this for 12rounds i see him taking a decision or maybe even stopping katsidis.
Khans gotta his work cut out with paulie and ive said all along this is a dangerous fight to be taking. The ring will be as big as possible and will be suited for malignaggi, if paulie does start taking the early rounds with superior footwork and doesnt get caught by khan i can see amir possibly needing a stoppage to win the fight
Mitchell 12th round TKO
Malignaggi points victory

Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Mitchell - Katsidis is a 50/50 fight. I can't pick a winner.
I have Khan beating Paulie quite easily though. Paulie is a good boxer but his lack of power and below average defense will cost him.
Khan wins a clear decision.

Amir Khan by UD in one sided fashion.

Mitchell on points. Khan late TKO in a much more one-sided fight.

I just dont see it happening
Khan has done nothing to suggest he is as good a fighter as diaz and look what malignaggi did to him

Styles make fights.

Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
I hope Malignaggi boxes his ears off, but it depends in which Malignaggi shows up. He blows hot and cold. On the Hatton form, he loses on pts. On the second Diaz fight form he makes it very interesting. I'm hoping it's a continuation of the recent form.

paulies already said this week khan neither has the power or the style of a ricky hatton
Ive got to agree on that!

At the same time neither Ricky nor Diaz has anywhere near the speed or accuracy of Khan.. so we'll see. There's no way Paulie will be able to keep Khan away from him with his jab all night like he was able to with Diaz, Khan has a longer reach and is miles faster.. I see Khan being able to get past the jab easily and then unloading with lightning fast combos.

Haha. ;D
I still think Paulie should walk in with a big sign showing an uncooked chipolata with the attached phrase "Luk at me luvstik beeg tits, yurs Ameer Can".
In response to HTH, I am not sure about Mitchell/Katsidis. I really haven't seen enough of Mitchell to make an informed decision. I like what Katsidis does, but really have no idea quite what Mitchell has to offer.

Katsidis by TKO, Khan on Pts.
-
Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Khan has the easier fight and will come out of it with a higher profile.

That's definitely true. Strange how boxing works. But while it works like that, guys like Khan are always going to find a quicker way to the top than less marketable fighters.
-
Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Mitchell is starting to become very annoying some fighters are quite thick and he seems to be another one of them, I keep reading him slagging Khan and Malignaggi at every oppurtunity possible, and he says he is fighting a real fighter Khan has taken the easy option, oh really Kevin? Well your opponent got totally outclassed by a guy Malinaggi totally stood on his head. Just shut the fuck up Mitchell and concentrate on your fight.
-
Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Katsidis fought Diaz 'pre-marquez'
malignaggi did not
that fight clearly took its toll on diaz
also in term of styles id say katsidis is a harder fight for khan than malignaggi

Khan and Mitchell have been flirting with eachother for ages now. Maybe the fight will get made if both win. Or lose.

Malinaggi would stand any version of Diaz on his head every day of the week, Katsidis would be made to look silly v Khan aswell.

Did you see the pre fight press conference. Katsidis was doing all the trash talking and mitchell was being more than respectful.
Kats claims to of never seen mitchell fight and that it`ll all be about him saturday night.........bring it on!!!!!

Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Why do people favor Mitchell? Not a rhetorical question.
His biggest win is over Prescott who wasn't a good boxer to begin with. Khan just has a glass jaw. I mean Kastidis is by far the best boxer Mitchell has faced. A guy who has faced Juan Diaz and Joel Casamayor. Am I correct?

Simply because he's unexposed.
Katidis has the form but Mitchell has the potential.
Mitchell is the more talented boxer (he was a top Brit amateur), has shown a solid chin and hard punch. His weakness was ignoring defense and getting in tear-ups, which is obviously not a good sign against Katsidis, but looks to have matured mentally in recent fights. Even if he can't outbox Katsidis he still might bust him up in a war.
On the flip side though Katsidis might totally expose him at this level ;)

Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Im taking a small risk with Katsidis here at the odds on offer, could be totally wrong, but Katsidis is a monster just looking at the two of them in the build up Kats looks like a man compared to Mitchell looks like a boy at this weight.
-
Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Khan will probably win on points, but you never know with his glass chin?

If that's the case then Malignaggi would make Khan move and turn a lot while he gets off while not giving Khan a target to get off on. Khan hasn't really shown an ability to get off punches when constantly on the move, sure he can get his feet planted and throw 50 punches but has he ever been made to move and turn, when he is moved and turned he seems to go into a defensive shell and waiting to get off. If he waits to get off against Malignaggi it will cost him dearly because Malignaggi has shown an ability to box on the move and with his feet planted, Khan has only shown he can fight with his feet planted.

Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
Mitchell-Katsidis is a 50/50 fight IMO. Can't really make up my mind but if forced I'd take Mitchell. I think there's a chance he'll catch Katsidis coming in.
Khan-Malignaggi I see Paulie coming away with a decision in a close fight.

I thought that too (kats looks bigger). If I wasn't cheering for Mitchell i'd probably back Katsidis at the odds.
Although having said that Dave Parris is still the ref ;)
-
Re: Mitchell-Katsidis/Khan-Powderpuff - who wins? (Poll)
I've backed Mitchell to get the win in rounds 7-9. I just think his power will start to tell in the second half of the fight.
Khan will be deparate to impress the american audience as most of the UK dislike him, so I think this one has a chance of finishing early. More likely is a UD following Khan nearly burning himself out trying for the big finish.

Anyone going to Khan v. Paulie? I'll be there.

Ortiz v Campbell
Who do you think will win this am thinking Campbell has has been to inactive and not sure about him at 140, but Ortiz doesn't fill you with any confidence after reading this interview. I like the odds of 4/6 for Ortiz though I thought he would be much shorter:
: How has everything gone in preparation and what can we expect to see from you on Saturday night? "I'm well prepared so I don't know, it's going to be a great fight and I'm ready. As far as I'm concerned I'm well prepped for this fight so it should be fun."
: What are your thoughts on Nate Campbell as a fighter? What weaknesses do you see in him that you feel you'll be able to exploit come fight time?
Victor Ortiz: "I'm going to take it as it comes, so on Saturday night, I'll let you know everything."
: Based on what you've seen from him on film, what do you think of Nate Campbell as a fighter?
: "He's a tough fighter. He's obviously a former world champion for a reason. It's boxing and there's tough fights all around. I can't judge him based on what I see. I have to go in there on Saturday night and judge him for myself."
: What are you hoping a victory over Nate Campbell leads to? What does a victory over Nate Campbell mean to you?
: "Obviously a victory over anyone means a lot, but I'm not looking past Nate Campbell. I'm here to enjoy and be focused on Nate and Nate only until the fight is over."
: Nate is the biggest name you've faced since your only loss to Marcos Maidana. Are you looking at this fight as a statement maker to show that you're of the elite level at 140?
: "No, I don't believe I have to show the world anything. Everybody is liable to their own opinion, so I don't have to say much on that. Like I said, I'm well prepped for this fight and he's not only elite fighter that I've fought as far as that goes."
: So are you basically saying that regardless of what's happened in the past you don't feel the need to prove yourself to anybody. Is this just about the better man on Saturday night to you? I'm just trying to be clear
: "Exactly. I don't think there's anything I have to prove. As long as I'm happy with myself and know I'm doing alright, that's all that matters to myself. "
: Other than victory do you have a prediction?
: "No. I'm here to box and that's it."
: Is there anybody out there at 140 that you're hoping to mix it up with in the near future?
: "I'm sure I can let you know all about it after the fight."
: We'll have plenty to talk about after the fight. Until then, closing thoughts for the fans?
: "Thank you very much for all of the support and love, or hate. Either or, I'm still thankful and I'm well prepped."
-
Re: Ortiz v Campbell
I was just gonna start a thread asking what happened to his fans? No threads about his fight. Not long ago about 95% of the forum (that took interest) thought Ortiz was so good that a match with Khan was laughable (even though Khan done him in the amateurs).
Now he's propping up Khan's undercard.. the irony.
I've got him in an acca. He may be mentally weak but i'll give him another chance.
-
Re: Ortiz v Campbell
IMO Ortiz stops Campbell in the mid rounds, if he gets his confidence back and tightens up his defense he'll be one of the top fighters at 140
-
Re: Ortiz v Campbell
8th round is about the longest Campbell will last.
-
Re: Ortiz v Campbell
Going for the upset here. Campbell makes Ortiz cry again.
