Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Ji-Hoon Kim is the main card for those of you that haven't seen him he is a heavy pressure guy, once he gets going he doesn't leave his opponents a chance to breathe. He's fighting young Ameth Diaz who's claim to fame was being a stay busy fight victim for Joan Guzman. Diaz has been in with the better competition and I'm sure Atlas will reiterate this point every round, but he's no world beater. Kim of course isn't some fancy boxer, he's just a straight up pressure fighter. Look forward to this one, could be a barn burner, even though the skill level isn't at the highest level. This fight is an IBF title eliminator which means the winner will never get a shot at the title the current IBF rankings have a vacant title with #1 and #2 not rated.
Everyone's favorite Russian prospect Ruslan Provodnikov faces off against KO of the year victim and clothing designer Franky Figueroa. Figueroa always gives an honest effort and has some good foot movement that may present a few problems for Provodnikov, but ultimately it's hard to picture any other conclusion except a brutal stoppage for Ruslan.
Overall both fights should be entertaining at least with enough pressure to boil water. Hope to see you all there.

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
I actually saw Ruslan Provodnikov live back in '08 when I was ringside at the Mashaba/Cruz fight when Cruz won the IBF title.
What fun he was to watch!
It was like his 7th fight, I think.
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
I'm a big fan of both fighters.
Btw, I just noticed Figueroa is out as Ruslan's opponent. According to boxrec, Emanuel Augustus will step in to face Provodnikov.

ugh, I'm not interested in watching old Emmanuel get his ass kicked.
Kim just never stops. The Tyrone Harris fight last time out was pretty fun.

Augustus 10 years ago would have given the kid a ALOT of trouble... Now? Not so much.:-\

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Interesting: Francisco Figueroa vs. Emanuel Augustus - Boxrec Boxing Encyclopaedia, but Augustus got KO'd his next fight for the first time since PBF did it. I haven't seem him since the Kid Diamond fight. That was painful enough to watch!

Why is Augustus old? because he got stopped in his last fight by a hard punching welterweight when he has fought most of his career at 135 and 140?

No he's old because of his age and amount of time spent in the ring. He's clearly wearing down, his reactions have slowed and he never had power. Are you saying he's the same fighter he was when he fought Ward?

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
OK 43 minutes til fnf, Sharif Bogere is also supposed to be on telefutura tonight, but it's not listed on my guide. Anyone gonna join me in the chat later?

I got no problem watching Augustus get his ass kicked

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Alright looks like the check cleared and we're up again.I like Kim...I'll go there,I just like to see often under the radar asian fighters get exposure.
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
hahah funny thread already.
I made a chat for it, I like the whole chat thing. Isn't The Lion King fighting on Telefutura tonight too?

Seriously?
He's 35, he's had 75 or so fights, he hasn't looked right in a while, after not looking right for a while he got stopped for the first time in forever, that's why I think he's old.
Watch him win now. I would be thrilled in some ways but Majesty being "right" would suck some of the fun out of it :p
Did the site just get back up and running? I gave up after a while.

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Hahaha I know this is funny. He has been old since fighting Jaime Rangel way back when. He still beat Figueroa though, but he's old and Provodnikov is an A+ prospect.

aside from losing to a 147 pound hard puncher when he is a natural 135-140 pounder. The last time he fought was against Figueroa and he looked good and beat him and was robbed. So no he isn't the same fighter who fought Ward but he hasn't been in a while, he beat Figueroa and his last fight was against a 147 pound hard puncher so I hardly think he's done.

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Oh....Thiiiiiiiiiiiis guy:o I'm so slack these days.I really like Provodnikov but yeah have only seen him twice.A brick shit-house and a real comer.Augustus has run his course...ok we get it,we do.But being close only counts with hand grenades.
Is it me or ...I just have no interest in Vasquez/Marquez 4...feel like a sadist

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Dont see a chat option bar ???
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
was just about to post the chat bar is gone where is it?
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Shit.Gave that to Augustus on late accuracy and had dude reacting to him.
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Looks like Provodnikov hurt him there at the end.
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
cagey, wiley f'r...I'd wager 100 that Lb was "intentional".His power needs to catch up and be consistent...right now Augustus is out hustling and out thinking him.
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
lol does Augustus look done yet? for someone on 3 days notice he isnt looking bad. I wouldn't stretch to say if this wasn't 3 days notice and Augustus was being active or had trained for this, he'd be taking him to school about now.
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
10 rounds is a long time.I think its a step away from Provodnikov bulling in and just ripping his chest and head...but he'll have to accept and catch plenty. And it bounces off his big head with little effect.Has to double up effort and wade in winging to get edge.Hes behind to me
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
3 rounds to 1 Provodnikov
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Ohhhh theres the equalizer.Time to walk in and put feet on his chest...that was a nice rifle shot right

I see him looking for ways switching southpaw etc. He Definately won that round though.

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Majesty this fight is proof Augustus is old. He clearly has the skillset to compete with Provodnikov but his physical attributes are declining.

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
defensive reflexes, head movement just aren't there anymore. Big time chin and heart though still.

Considering the shape he's in and the 3 days notice he is doing fine against this guy. declining attributes or not and Procodnikov is either tired or just bought his time after trying to stop Augustus, we'll see in this next round.

Provodnikov has knocked him down, broke his nose and is still landing at almost 50%, face it he's getting old. Provodnikov is just toying with him now.
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
No doubt Augustus will cry he got robbed if this goes the distance
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
That power has flipped it all,I think Provodnikov should stop all the defence as Augustus best is bouncing off with zero effect and just go allll out,at this point hes moving him and can drop him...Augustus plays a role these days, and after that KD he's following the script
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Lol Majesty you are consistent if nothing else. Prime Augustus is probably going to beat Provodnikov, even a well trained Augustus just isn't getting out of the way of those right hands.
-
Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
Augustus trying to pull a Hopkins

Damn. Your one of the ones who's going to agree with Augustus that he got robbed, huh?

he isnt "toying" with him. He's tired and is loading that right hand. I don't see how lettign Augustus back him up in the 7th is toying. Missed the 8th. watching the 9th. From what I see from this prospect he isn't too impressive. He has power, but that's about it. Any decent boxer would beat this guy. His power is an equalizer but that's about it. Good for TV, but he won't be a champ long. Fight stopped. good stoppage.

Re: Exciting prospects on fnf this week.
well that was inevitable. And a bit depressing.
