Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
Negotiations are under way. He would also fight stronger opponent in December this year - he mentioned Samuel Peter as a possible rival - as a last step before a shot at a title.
Since his debut in heavyweight division in late October last year, Adamek has already fought two hard, 12-round fights. I'm glad he wants to fight 4 matches a year, (even if some of them he is doomed to win), this doesn't seem too common nowadays.

Holyfield? Really? That's like, "Food critic wants to eat plate of poo for his next meal."

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
Holyfield should never fight again, dot. This might be a very very damageable fight for The Real Deal and I hope he'll retire after that. Adamek comes from 2 good fights, this one won't raise his credibility in the HW division and will likely only keep him active with a check pay at the end of the stick.

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
It will be a interesting fight and good measuring stick of where Adamek is at. In his last 2 fights Evander was robbed over 12 with Valuev and blasted out Botha. Adamek had a close fight with Arreola and blew away a fat washed up Golota.
For the 1st time in a while both guys will be facing an equally ripped guy in the opposite corner who like to prepare 100% unlike the fat trash they have been up against recently. I expect Adamek to outwork Evander but he was wobbled at light heavy so if Evander can land some bombs it should be a fun fight. Adameks not too hard to hit and Evander has a good chin so it may be a long tough fight. Both like to exchange, good combination punchers. Neither guy comes to run and mess around. I look forward to it.

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
Come on Adamek.
You have been fighting really good opponents recently, don't fight a seriously old Holyfield.
-
Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
What if Evander beats him??
I don't think it's impossible. I didn't think Fat Arreola had a chance vs Adamek but Holyfield is in shape and still has a chin and can still punch a bit. I wouldn't write Evander off, Don't get me wrong I'd go for Adamek but Evander might just still have the tools there for an opponent like Adamek.
Only problem is if he does then he will def get a title shot and that will result in disaster for Evander. Although I don't think Haye would fight his hero!!

The thing is that his reflexes and his legs are almost completely gone, a miracle is almost always possible as they say but I think that there is way too much for his plate at the moment, especially because Adamek is showing a lot of nice things lately for the HW division.

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
Adamek would hammer Holyfield and prove nothing.
Hopefully this isn't right as Adamek should be doing more meaningful things with his time than beating up a shell.
-
Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
Evander's stubborn as a mule...he'll need his ass kicked decisively before he finally (I hope) retires. The fights against an uninspired Valuev and Frans Botha only added to his (crazy) dream of regaining a world title.
If the fight happens...Tomasz will retire him.

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
Adamek should fight someone more credible, this is a step backwards for him.

sad but true
I really cant blame adamek for wanting to beat on holyfield, even at 45 thats still a hell of a name to have on your cv

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
As I see it, Adamek throughout his career has been constantly refused a fight with a big known name. Glen Johnson, Ray Jones Jr, Bernard Hopkins, you name it. Either because of fear, greed or lack of television interest, he couldn't beat those guys and steal some of their fame. Now, that his position is stronger, he probably can't resist taking what should be given to him a long time ago :p
Finally, last year he knocked out old Golota and this gained him more popularity in Poland than beating Cunningham and Banks. At least among "the people". This is how it works, sadly. This is not Adamek's fault - the system is to blame ;).

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
Adamek is the most professional HW out there. I have grown to really like the guy. No BS, will fight anyone, and is quite talented. Beating Holyfield, though, proves absolutely nothing, except he gets a phony HW belt, which may help leverage him into fights with the hayes and klitchkos....

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
i would pick almost anyone including my 99 year old grandma and my 13 year old down syndrome neighbour to beat holyfield at this point.
if its true that adamek wants to fight holyfield. i can get him a fight with my grandma after. she needs a pay day.

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
I can't believe Holyfield is still fighting. When he was born, Ali was Cassius Clay.
For people that say Roy Jones or Hopkins should retire, what do those people say about Holyfield? Absolutely incredible. The difference to me between Jones, Hopkins, and Holyfield, is that Jones still has speed, where as Hopkins and Holyfield don't have the any of the speed they used to have at their current age.
Still Holyfield is tough as nails and still packs a punch. I don't think he can beat Adamek, but I'd like to see him surprise me.

Still, I think that Hopkins looks much better than both despite his last questionable performance.

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
A part of me want's to give Adamek a pass on this since I'm certain this is a money making fight for him...
Because it sure as hell ain't gonna help him in the rankings...

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
That is a really shit choice of potential opponent. Shame on Adamek for even going there.

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
Would have preferred Holyfield to Grant, at least Holyfield still has some name value! I like Adamek's activity so I can tolerate a gimme here...

Re: Adamek wants to fight Holyfield in late August
Holyfield is broke. He wanted $400 000 for the fight and they turned him down. That means Holyfield is basically prepared to fight for less than $200 000 nett. What a shame, what an awful way for him to end up.

no way , Grant is a much better fight than Holyfield . Grant is huge and has a impressive reach . He can give Adamek many problems.

No point being huge with an impressive reach if you can't fight or take a punch!

I still see this as a decent matchup. He may be able to take Adamek's punches. I still favour Adamek but this is going to be intriguing imo

We'll have to agree to disagree. I think Adamek busts Grant up in a few rounds! At least Holyfield is a name heavy, who the hell outside of us has ever heard of Grant?

Well, names don't fight ;D
It's all about Adamek this time. It's just a sparing that he wants to capitalize on. I doubt Holyfield fans would want to show up anyway (if there are any left), to see their champion battered for some petty cash.

I'm a big fan of Adamek but this won't be a sparring session. He's fightting a near 7foot guy with a ok jab. Adamek should win but it won't be easy
