who would win in a fight, a fully grown male lion and fully grown male silverback gorilla. Both weigh around the 170kg mark, personally I think the lion as it has more weapons e.g claws and razor sharp teeth, one bite to the neck I think the gorilla would be done, silverbacks r strong as hell tho and they can fight, would be a good scrap IMO.

Or how about a bear vs a lion or a gorilla, keep in mind these would all weigh 170 kg so it's fair
for the Lion vs Gorilla, I think that in a normal circumstance, the Lion has a good chance to win due to his stronger jaw and razor sharp claws. There is always a change that the gorilla slams on his back and crack the spine but in a general situation, Lion wins.Quote:

In terms of the bear it would really be heavily dependant on the type of bear. There are so many types and some of them ie Panda's are really quite docile. But some types of bear can get to in excess of 500 kilo's. A lion would be having it rough if he doesn't get the first strike in effectively enough. A bear like that would be significantly stronger IMO. I could see the solitary lion running away.
I don't know about the gorilla as I know far less about them.
Let's say something else than the black bear or the Panda, a Kodiak, a Grizzly or a Polar. Not only are they 3-4 times bigger and stronger but their skin is thicker and a bear has between 3 and 5 adrenaline glands... so when he's pissed off and angry... he doesn't feel pain and he's quite nastyQuote:

Fully grown, Grizzly and Polar can go over the 1000 pounds... these are nasty creatures. I once came quite close (unwittingly of course) with what looked like a fully grown black bears and I promise, I wasn't feeling good at all and these are much smaller than a polar or a Grizzly.Quote:

I don't think many bears are docile - pandas are not a member of the bear family. The most docile bear is probably Yogi and he gets plus points in that he clearly beats Ranger Smith in a one-on-one as he is smarter than the average bear.Quote:

Silverback would ground and pound the lion. I've seen lions tucked their tails and run away when they're hurt. They are easy to break.
A Kodiak Grizzly would shred them to pieces.

...a chimpanzee did that. Chimpanzees are roughly 5'6 in height and 150 pounds and at that size they are many times stronger than the average human
Silverback Gorillas are about 5'9 in height and can weigh around 310-440 pounds...and they are many times stronger than a chimpanzee.
As for bears, Nameless, I don't know where you get it in your head that bears are not mobile....bears can freaking move, especially when they are pissed off. Black bears are pretty small and not terribly vicious (not saying they won't fuck up a human given the chance) they are usually shy animals which is why many people don't even know they share territory with them. The largest black bear ever killed (the bear was in my home state of North Carolina) weighed 880 pounds and black bears can be as tall as 6 feet. Kodiak bears are the world's largest bears can stand as tall as 10 feet and weigh close to 1,500 pounds.
I would favor the gorilla over the lion, the bear over the lion, and a Grizzly, Polar, or Kodiak bear over a gorilla.
Lions are pack animals and the male lions don't really do all that much to begin with. The lionesses go out and hunt and if the males do anything they sit and wait for the lionesses to drive the prey to them.
