Pacquiao willing to take random dope test..

Good news for the Fight fans :D

Here’s a piece of good news to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
As part of efforts to agree on a November 13 fight, Manny Pacquiao said he is amenable to undergo random drug and urine testing 14 days before the fight.
“As long as they’re not getting a large amount of blood, I am willing to give out blood as close to two weeks before the fight,” Pacquiao told the Bulletin late Wednesday night during a lull in shooting a Ginebra commercial in Makati.
Pacquiao said he will not hesitate to be tested provided that the amount to be taken would be minimal, noted the 31-year-old fighter, gesturing with his pointer and index fingers a measurement equivalent to a short syringe.
Pacquiao and Mayweather had agreed in principle to face off but a last-minute demand by Mayweather for Olympic-style testing did not augur well with Pacquiao’s handlers, saying they would not be bullied into accepting his seemingly-outlandish terms.
Pacquiao narrated the incident during the first fight with Erik Morales in March 2005 when a large amount was taken from him on the eve of the fight that he eventually lost by unanimous decision.
“I felt very weak after they got the blood,” said Pacquiao, motioning with his fingers once again the size of the syringe that was used in extracting blood from his arm.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao, has his schedule all figured out: Congress in the daytime and gym in the afternoon.
Pacquiao said he can handle the role of being fighter and lawmaker and that “time management” is the key to getting things done.
“I will attend sessions in the morning until afternoon then I go to the gym around 4 or 5 p.m.,” said Pacquiao, who will take his oath as congressman of Sarangani on June 30.
“I will stay in the country during training camp then with two weeks before the fight, I will fly to the US,” said Pacquiao, stressing that during his absence, his staff will assume his countless responsibilities.
As in previous training camps, there would still be the usual early-morning roadwork then gym work in the afternoon, according to the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight king.
“Nothing’s going to change as far as my training is concerned even though I am now a congressman because I will carefully map out my schedule. I will still wake up early becauseI have to run in the morning.”
The past few days, Pacquiao has been busy consulting with his political advisers so he can easily adjust to his new role by July.
Next month, Pacquiao will leave for New York to personally receive the Fighter of the Year award – his third – that will be given out by the Boxing Writers Association of America.
“I am truly honored by this award that I am about to receive,” said Pacquiao, whose trophy chest also includes numerous plaques and trophies given by the Philippine Sportswriters Association, the oldest media organization in the country that carefully tracked the boxer’s rise to fame and fortune.

They were there from day 1? it seems strange that they would agree to the terms then later disagree? aswell i think it is pretty random as it leaves all the way upto preparing for the fight to be tested until 2 weeks out which sounds random to me but just as a precaution of coming in weak for the fight seems like a good idea to me at the level these guys are fighting at little things like this cant be overlooked as they could be the difference between winning and losing, but still in 2 weeks some shorter acting PED's could be in the system i just think its stupid tbh because in 2 weeks its not like the PED's would have time to give much of an advantage.

I still, honestly, can't get my head why he won't just accept the random tests if he has nothing to hide? Who cares if he is seen go 'give in' to Mayweathers demands - they are perfectly sensible demands for what would be the biggest fight we have seen in many years. This 'i get weak' excuse is bullshit. You can't tell me it takes him two weeks to recover.

The fact that this fight is one step closer to happening should be good enough period!!!

No one in professional boxing has implimented "olympic" style drug testing and the only 2 people that i am aware of that HAVE done it so far are PBF who claimes to be like Martin Luther King and Malcome X, and the other was someone that has got caught doping already...(then lied about it)

How is a compromise not good enough for the boxing world? I implore everyone to quit complaining so damn much over this blood crap. If it was so damn important why hasn't every "clean" fighter in the game taken a stand. If it was so damn important to MAY then why is he 41-0 and only taking the random tests 1 time... Mosely was under the gun back in 2003 and MAY has fought 11 times since then... When did he talk about cleaning up the sport???

I am happy that PAC has come to a compromise, that is a start.. End of story... (damnit i'm back beating the dead horse)

pbf should take the 14day cutoff cause according to arum. the usada stopped testing mosley 18 days before the fight and 19 days for pbf.

i dont get it, pbf wants pac to be tested thoroughly but how come mosley was only tested 18days before the fight?

I wonder if the drug test picks up crack....I bet it dont or little Floyd would fail. Even if he didnt smoke it the fumes from Roger and Papa Floyd must give Little Floyd a buzz now and again...;D

I would not agree to testing if there is a possibility they would draw blood the morning of the fight....That is a little too close for comfort.

I sense the OP, might be a former soul.

As for the drug tests, why not 10 days?

Does anybody know if it's possible for Pac to actually cycle up or make any illegal gains within 14 days? I mean, surely that's not enough time for him to cheat?

Like everyone else I just want the fight made. That link containing the dates of when Mosley & PBF were tested makes you think it still can be made, although I'm sure Mosley was tested in one of the 24/7's on the day he left for Vegas...

Travis Tygart of USADA said that even though the last test date for the PBF-Shane fight was 18 days prior to and the day of the fight it does not mean that is applicable to PAC vs Money May. I smell soemthing fishy here:-\ USADA looks bias IMHO.

Level playing field:-\ PAC should challenge PBF in a 140 pound fight instead and take random blood testing up to the day of the fight if they want to. THese people are making it almost impossible for the naturally smaller man to be in a level playing field.

USADA has no reason to be biased, what's the motivation?

I think those are just the latest dates they were blood tested, because as Conrad pointed out Mosley was urine tested on the day he left for Vegas which was less then 10 days out.

If pac tried to get floyd to fight at 140 the fight would never happen, floyd hasnt fought at 140 in 5 years.
No one said pac had to come up in weight, if he is at such a disadvantage why does he want to fight at 147? The height differance is only a inch or so.
Pac is going well at the higher weight levels and for him to demand floyd to come down to 140 would be a kick in the guts to all of us.

A week out for the blood tests would be the best but hopefully they can agree to each others demands and make this fight happen.

Pacquiao agreeing to the 14 day cut-off for the blood test is good news. He, now, is agreeing to Floyd's demand in the initial negotiation and did not ask to meet in the middle, which is 18 - 20 days.

I don't think this should be a problem for Floyd. Even if they suspect Manny to be using, Manny is still the underdog. So this implies that even a 'drugged-up' Manny is no match for Mayweather.

So what else can go wrong in this negotiation?

Manny agreed to have an IMMEDIATE blood test right after the fight. It's as good as pre-fight testing.

No, what Tygart is saying is that Pac's people are missing the point. What thwarts most of the cheating is the element of surprise. They don't know when the cheaters are cheating and the cheaters don't know the day they will stop the random testing. Therefore, they must reserve the option that all days are a testing day. If someone is cheating and they know they can be tested on call on any given day that bluff by itself is a call most cheaters won't challenge and this makes for a huge and necessary hinderance to the cheaters.

Exactly, I find the whole need for a window to be fishy in itself. Random testing should be just that. Random.

I want the fight and actually want Pac to win, but he should take random tests. There is no good reason not to.

Stimulants are only effectove during the fight so should be detected in the agreed upon post fight test. Not sure if steroids and HGH can be detected using urine tests alone, either way am scepitical about the gains a boxer could make in the winding down period of training. Much more effective during off season which is tested by olympic athletes, yet curiously isn't tested or promoted by PBF (who seems to get bigger every fight) who apparently wants to clean up the sport, and whose followers have not demanded the likes of Marquez-Vazquez-Williams-Cintron-adamek-arreola-pavlik-martinez etc to do so in recent weeks.

14 days was good enough for Mayweather in January, and is sure as hell more than good enough for me (a fan) who wants to the most meaningful fight in recent years actually take fucking place.

Perhaps I should post the 50+ links that held all these same arguments before.
I can't wait for the two divas Pac and Mayweather to retire, I don't watch boxing to hear a couple of queens hash out details for months on end squabbling over the finer details of morality and the obligations of private parties vs. professional athletes. The last round of negotiations really soured me to this fight at all. I used to really want this fight, now I will only care when (if) that opening bell sounds. In the mean time I'm gonna focus on fighters that do their fighting in the ring, not the soap opera that this has become.

Sad thing is all this can be avoided if Pacquiao just says "Alright, i'll take the random blood test let's fight."


PACQUIAO is the one trying to make it fit to the mold he wants saying "I'll do it weeks out, ill do it right after the fight, ill do it these many days, I don't want it this time i want it that time" he apparently doesn't get the meaning of 'random'.


So if you want to blame anyone for all this stalling blame Pacquiao. All he has to do is give a simple "sure, drug test me, lets fight" and all this ends.

This is what I was wondering about, can Manny actually make any gains within that 14 day window? I mean he won't be training that much in the week leading up to the fight so I can't imagine cheating will be of any benefit to him.
