Re: Best things that you have bought
To this day I still get upset, when i was like 14 I got the N64. Now this was the dogs bollocks back in the day and if I remember rightly it was like 3 ton :o That was like 1997 aswell!!!!!!!!!
My pride and joy got it on the day it came out proper show off I was all my mates would come round and the rumble pack back then was like WOOOOOWWWWWWWW proper Hi Tech shit. :p
Then my house got robbed about 4 months later and it was gone never replaced, that day ruined my life and I think was the major contributor to my now drug addiction.

@Skel, I also had an N64 that got nicked. But a 'friend' stole mine. I lent it to him and then he rung he up to claim it had been nicked from his room. I later found he had sold it to buy some weed. :(
As for my own favourite purchase, damn I have a few, most really geeky.
My pda, an Ipaq 4700 which I bought for over £400 when they first come out in 2004 and still serves me to this day. I love this device and even now would take it over an iphone any day of the week.
Of course my rowing machine that dominates my lounge and has prolonged the lifespan of my feeble lungs was a great buy too.

Re: Best things that you have bought
I take great pride in my book and CD collections. I've been a bit slow because I have been studying for the past 2 years or so, but I am back on track with a fair few new things which have been keeping me busy.
I've bought other things such as my PS3, but is that the best thing ever? No, not really. I like to play games, but they really aren't a patch on a good book or a good new piece of music. Films are alright, I guess. But it depends.

Re: Best things that you have bought
The best thing would have to be contraceptives, particularly for Bilbo.

That,s a nice little playground indeed.
As for me, a 1994 Ford Tempo that had 5000 km for 2000 bucks, lasted me around 10 years and was absolutelty unexpensive on every damn levels, almost no repairs (and super cheap when it was), insurances were almost as ludicrous as its performances and I would have had it for a few more years if my Dad wasn,t such a prick and decided to let it rust under 5 meters of snow while I was in Europe. 2000 10 years without any problems and the cheapest insurances, a damn good bargain.
My Alpha gear bomber jacket, have it for aroud 10 years now and it doesn't look that old at all, that combined with a good hoodie have been my main winter gear for years and never let me down on a cold day, I,ve beaten it a lot and still, he lives on.
Jean Hyppolite book about Hegel's spirit phenomenology, found it in a used book store for a ludicrous price when that book is out of print now and many people are willing to pay a load more than its initial price to find it, one of the best bargains I made on a book.

Re: Best things that you have bought
Well the best ever wine I bought was an 01 Chateau Talbot St. Julien it was a little over $90...best wine I've ever had and not just because it was expensive, I've deffo had some high priced wine that I wasn't really impressed with.
I just bought a new suit, I haven't had it tailored yet, but it's one fine suit. 2 button, black suit, with pinstripes alternating from white to black...very classy.

In terms of recent purchases I would have to say my new suits have been good investments. I bought a gray one, a dark pinstriped one and a dark cashmere one. I also bought a number of shirts and ties which really match up well. And not too expensive at all. My trip home was a disaster, but the suits kind of made up for it.
I was also really impressed with the variety of beers in the supermarket yesterday. Today I am going to drink some krombacher and pilsner urquell and then I am going back on the wagon again. :p

3. Real Estate
4. Cars
5. Contacts
6. Cell phone
7. I-Pod
8. Camera
9. External HD
10. A pair of gloves that cost me about $25 dlls. now I've been offered $1,000 for 1 of the gloves. ;D

Is this some sort of Michael Jackson reference?
As for mine, I'd go for a big snuggly hoodie. Lord of the Rings books, bought when I was 9 with about 2 months' pocket money, still being read almost every year. Trip to the Himalayas.

Re: Best things that you have bought
I just bought a new pair of dress shoes....expensive but should last for ages and should look very nice with my new suit.
I think I am going to look into getting a fine hat, perhaps a strawboater or a nice fedora :toff:
Eventually I want to get a Brooks Brother's hand crafted suit....I also would like to get a 3 piece suit as well....eventually, but now my focus is on a good top coat

We'll see about that...as soon as I can afford a Brooks Brothers' custom tailored suit I'll post a picture of it he other stuff is nothing terribly special though it seems mighty expensive now. In truth, my most treasured article of clothing is an authentic Smoking Jacket that my Great Uncle had but never wore (as when I found it the price tag was still on it...and it fit me perfectly and my Great Uncle was a lot smaller than me) the cost on the price tage was $30 which was a ton of money back in the day I'm guessing 1930's or 1940's. That along with my Grandfather's cigarette case/lighter has almost made me want to start smoking cigarettes on the regular....I usually will have the occassional cigar, but those times are few and far between.

I will avoid the obvious comment about those two things essentially meaning the same thing... ;)... but if he's a boxing fan that dapper may mean to look like Ian 'Dapper' Napa. Short, black and permanently wearing sunglasses.
