Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
I am not sold on JCC being the next version of his father yet...He is young and has a long long time to improve and is getting better each time out...
I like Duddy because he makes fights exciting...Anyone who uses their head as defense usually does but it is his downfall not too mention his questionable chin....
Any thoughts on how this one plays out....TBH I am on the fence for this one

Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
In any normal situation, I would day Duddy gets him. However, JCC has Roach in his corner and Roach performs miracles on his fighters, which makes me doubt now but Roach factor aside, I say Irish John gets the nod and knock down the JCC jr down at least once.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
both suck, just Duddy sucks a bit more, IMO Jr beats him by UD
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
This is actually a really good matchup IMO. It's all about pairing guys at the same skill level. I can honestly say this is the first jcc2 match I've been interested in. It has the potential to be similar to duddy/yori boy which was a very entertaining shootout.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
I don't see why duddy shouldn't win. Jcc lost to matt vanda for crying out loud (although not in the record books which is what really matters) that in itself makes me say he at the very least has a really good shot.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
Duddy really needs to win this and put on a good show. I blame the Lyell loss on a bad training camp, if thats Duddy's fault or the trainer who knows, I wasnt watching. He needs to go back to old Duddy and start using that left hook more. This could be a good one because they both like to mix it up, and if Duddy challenges JCC Jr. to slug it out I'm sure he will oblige. Looking forward to a brawl hopefully Roach hasn't taught JCC Jr. too much.;D

Quite what I think, I see Duddy as being better in a normal situation (i.e minus the Roach factor) and somehow, I don't think JCC has what it takes if ever Duddy makes of it a brawl.

This.

Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
I agree this is a good match-up an exciting one at that.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
Yes the WBC does it again, this is for their newly crafted Silver belt.
Thank god for that

Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
I think the winner should fight Manfredo Jr. He's gone on the record saying he's wanted to fight both in the past but Duddy's stock has dropped since then. Just a tidbit I had on my mind in regards to this subject...
Now, back to the subject...
Duddy's been boxing more lately and become less of a crowd pleasing fighter. Boxing would play into JCCjr's hands. If Duddy boxes with him he loses... If he can turn it into a street fight, it'll be a good match and give him a better shot.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
should be a good fight but both are short of been at world level imo.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
They can call this fight "Who's The Least Shit?"
It's in Texas so Duddy needs a knockout to win. Duddy's team are trying to reinvent him as a boxer and not have him get involved in brawls. Judging by the evidence of his last fight this is a total waste of time, I've seen statues with better mobility and head movement. Duddy just needs to forget all about boxing and try and blow Chavez away, if it goes to points he's got less than zero chance

A fight in which poor ancient Yori Boy was robbed of his just win. Duddy by all rights should have 3 losses already. He's just not that good. Especially now that he's all of a sudden a boxer.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
it'll be interesting how much jcc jr. has improved since joining roach's stable! i think he will improve alot but i also think john duddy is somewhat of an underrated fighter himself. he isn't a great fighter but he does show some very good boxing skills. only time will tell if duddy improves significantly to become a future world champion. right now if i had to make a prediction without seeing the (the new and improved jcc jr.), i've got to go with duddy by close decision.

An entertaining fight regardless though. It's not like the winner gains anything as far as moving farther on the world stage.

In the mind of there clueless fans it does.

Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
Arum is threatening to put the winner in with Cotto or Margarito. I'm not sure though, I have a feeling they're trying to get Junior up to 100 wins unbeaten before they put him in with anybody good. His 100th fight will probably be a Matt Vanda trilogy fight. :)
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
if jcc jr. happens to defeat john duddy, i think bob arum is crazy to even think of pitting him against either cotto or margarito, or any of the elite middleweights. jcc jr. is NOT ready for the big time and most every boxing fan knows this!
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
Seeing as Arum likes to keep things within the Top-Rank family, the winner could make a good come-back fight for Foreman, depending on how long he's sidelined after the surgery.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
Duddy dropped his trainer that was trying to turn him into a technique boxer. He's a brawler, he's back with his old trainer. I doubt he's gonna go the box first route seeing as Lyell outboxed him. It's pretty funny that some people hate Duddy so much. If Duddy wins, I wouldn't call a Cotto or Margarito fight out of the question, Duddy would have the size, and definately could take the punches. Whoever called Duddys chin questionable, obviously hasnt seen him fight. He's been rocked many times never been stopped.

Ain't nobody hating on Duddy. He's just ain't that good. That's pretty much a fact.

Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
I don't know whether to root for Duddy because I can't stand the way JCC Jr. has been coddled by his dad and has built his record on stiffs, or....... to root for JCC Jr. so that he DOES get a fight with Cotto. The resulting beatdown would take care of that fake "0", and surely get Junior thinking about a career in sales.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
I don't really care who wins that much, but will side with Duddy as JCC Jr is a hack and has been ripping people off with meaningless fights on PPV.

Khan lost to a puncher, but Roach worked wonders for him we'll see how JCC does with Duddy, neither has impressed me really, at least one will be gone when this is over with. But Duddy for being hyped semi at the start of his career has been in limbo forever and JCC has the name but not the power of his dad maybe he is more of a boxer now.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
Mar,
when did jcc jr. lose to matt vanda? if you're talking about their first bout, you're mistaken. he did beat vanda but it was closer than the judges scores indicated. hence, the disapproval of the boxing crowd in mexico. besides, he was sick for that fight and in their rematch, he beat vanda more thoroughly.

I'd love to see Manfredo get the winner of this. To be honest whoever wins this fight, it will likely mark the highpoint of their career. I wouldn't pick either Duddy or Chavez Jr to beat any of the first season contenders in all honesty. I think Ishe Smith, Alfonso Gomez, Sergio Mora, Peter Manfredo, Jesse Brinkley if he could make weight would comfortably beat these guys. Hell even Anthony Bonsante of a few years ago and Joey Gilbert would likely be too much.
I think Duddy will win, but I'm not convinced he will get the decision. Chavez is likely to win if it goes to the cards unless Duddy can make it utterly beyond doubt.
That bias wouldn't effect Manfredo though as he'd knock Chavez out inside 8 rounds imo.

"Duddys questionable chin"? He hasnt been knocked down, not even once in his Career. He will K.O Chavez in the 4th Round, showing the Mexicans how the Irish can put on a Show. Good Luck John, Not that you need it. Derry and Ireland have your back. (Look forward to your reply).
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
I see this as a 50/50 fight.
If Duddy can fight with the same heart he fought vs. Campas I give him the nod on a close but hard fought decision. Especially considering that JCC gases out late in fights.
But Duddy has to make JCC fight inside and make JCC give up his height and reach.
Now there is a big factor in the JCC that will present itself to fight Duddy. He will be guided by none other then Freddie Roach.
I've got a feeling that Roach has set up a mold for JCC to come out fighting using his height and reach if he sticks to the game plan he outboxes Duddy.
With that being said I'm gonna go with JCC by decision.

I agree. I would like to watch this fight but won't be able to since it's a PPV.
For the record, I think Chavez Jr. is the winner.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
Duddy couldn't box to save his life, he is a brawler through and through.
Chavez jr. to me is just a leech with no talent. If it wasn't for his daddy, he wouldn't be getting a fraction of the exposure he is getting at the moment.
Both guys are massively overrated, but evenly matched. I feel Duddy will wear him down though... stoppage in round 8 after a good war.
Cotto beats both of them at the same time. ;D

Not sure if we can really say he rips people off with PPVs. Nobody twists people's arms to pay for his fights and they still pay to see watch him. I guess business is doing good for him to keep charging PPV for his fights:confused:.

Miles case is different. Chavez Jr actually went into his house. Twisted both his arms and made him order his PPV's.

Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
I've watched Duddy since he turned pro and have been to 2 of his fights, and he's just 100% heart. Hasn't got the skills, but he does have the heart and has a great chin. I honestly would think Duddy would brawl his way to victory against JCC but for one factor...freddie roach. I think roach is just going to tell him to stay on the outside and box the head of duddy and he can mark and cut duddy fast if he does that. With the fact that roach is in his camp, my head says JCC on points, however only if JCC is motivated and disciplined enough to listen to roach. I would love to see Duddy win. Johns a nice guy, passionate warrior, and went over to america to fufill his dream to box on nights like this. COME ON DUDDY!!
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
Whats the PPV for this cost? I hope its not the same $40. since the Arce V Morel fight got dropped. I hate when they do that shit. Ads are still saying Arce v Morel is happening on my cable.
-
Re: Duddy Vs JCC Jr thoughts?
Duddys only loss was to a boxer with a very misleading record. That said his last opponents record had more padding than a DFS sofa.
I think Chavez wins by eight rounds to four to win a completely worthless trinket from the WBC pawn shop.

Heart definitely hope Duddy, the mind says it's very possible and my only concern is Roach. Duddy wears the kid's down and gets the nudge.

Yes, that Chavez Jr has really pissed me off.
I'm most looking forward to the Barrera fight really. I will watch the Duddy fight, but it has no meaning for me.
