BBC Sport - Audley Harrison camp says David Haye talks have opened
ive just read this on fightnews too, he needs to realise that if he got in the ring with Haye or either Klit, Harrison would end up brutally knocked out! I cant believe some of the shit that comes out of the guys mouth, he knows that if he fought Dimitrenko he would get KO'd too so instead of fighting him he vactated the belt. Hes a coward Audley and not in a millions years does he deserve a fight against a champion.
We're getting back to 2007 here, the best are going to stop fighting each other. Time to get back to watching prospects and upcoming fighters, they'll fight whoever are put in front of them, and I don't have to watch the negotiations soap operas. ;D
I'm sure this fight will sell in the UK, but it's hard to imagine it getting play in the US or even Germany for that matter. Not sure what Haye is doing here, just waiting out the Wlad until he's 38? maybe waiting for Vitali to turn 40?
At this rate if he fights Wlad next year, Wlad will be 35 and still be the youngest heavyweight on his resume.
Tomaz Bonin - 36 years old
Monte Barret - 37 years old
Nicolay Valuev - 36 years old (only 10 in Yeti years)
John Ruiz - 38 years old
Audley Harrison? - 38 years old (39 if the fights after October)
I hope he fights him and i hope A-Train lays the smack down.
Wow, just wow.
Haye 3rd round KO.
If that chump gets a world title shot from winning Prizefighter and losing 11 rounds out of 12 to Sprott it's unreal!
I would love to see Harrison knock out David "All Talk No Action" Haye.
Haye has to be doing it solely for the money. Sky would hype it up like you wouldn't believe and the majority of the clueless public would be taking in by it. Harrison has absolutely no chance whatsoever and I just hope that Haye's people sign up with one of the five fighters they are in talks with. Haye would lose a lot of respect by taking this fight imo. Will be taking the easy option, thats for sure.
Looks can be decieving.
If you were Hayes manager and someone said to you "Iv got the perfect opponent for your man, hes 6,5", 18 stone, can punch and is a southpaw"
The last thing youd think is "thats an easy fight"
I reckon Harrison is pretty confident to be coming out with teh shit already and to be serious about the fight too. Maybe he did a bit better in the sparring than we heard?
Everyone SAYS they want to fight the Klitschko's but when it comes to actually fighting them it's a different story. For example a certain person has been calling Wladimir out for about 3 solid years and now things have become a little more quiet, especially since a tv station went bankrupt, the fighter got injured shaddow boxing, and perhaps had a hang nail we really haven't heard much from that guy recently for such a loquacious person things have been silent.
Audley Harrison is worthless.....maybe Dominick Guinn will get a title shot soon
Harrison and Chicken Little deserve each other
I'm gonna keep it short and sweet. Haye takes this fight, and he drops way down in my estimations. Total balls if you ask me.
I do wonder how many of our British forum members have lost respect for this guy....has anyone just stopped being a fan of his on account of his actions?
Boxing - Bönte: No Klitschko-Audley talks
Apparently Audley was told by the Klitschko's that on the world stage he's still a nobody....I wonder if the Britain Chicken will tell him that?
I thought James Toney, Hasim Rahman, and Shannon Briggs were also on the radar of one certain vociferous title holder
Thats a pretty damning statement. Great stuff. Everything Bonte said was spot on to be fair.
If Harrison hadn't got lucky with that punch in the 12th round agains Sprott, he'd be retired by now. There would be none of this nonsense. He is, literally, hanging on to his career by the skin of his teeth. His fight with Haye, god forbid, will be his last and can't wait to see him get a beating - a beating which I hope one of the Klits dish out to Haye IF they ever meet in the ring. I know he is British etc but just because he is British doesn't mean we all have to support him. Hell, I got more respect for Danny Williams than I have for David Haye. ;D
Haye will beat the crap out of audley, and the sad part is haye will be the one that looks worse for going from stalking the klit's to braggin about beating harrison. Props though to audley for making a living and suckering people to even consider this fight as remotely important.
Utterly laughable!
If Haye hadn't been banging on about beating the Klitchsko's for so long I would be happy to see this fight, but as it is, if it happens, it will clearly be a stall to try and squeeze more PPV buys from fans and to pad out his record.
So far I've respected Haye for the people he has fought, Valuev although shit, still hadn't been beat for a long time and he still had to get that decision. Ruiz is a solid and respected heavyweight so I can see why he took that one.
If he fights Harrison I hope he gets beat and I hope that Audrey goes on to fight and beat a Klitscho.
Despite the fact I can't stand him, I actualy want him to win a world title, would make me laugh my ass off if he did manage to achieve what we all think is impossible for him.
One thing you cannot knock him for is is self belief (out of the ring) and the way he makes himself an attraction.
Let's say this fight happens....
#1 What would Chicken Little have to do vs Audley to impress you (if it's possible)?
#2 Let's say Harrison gives a good account of himself ends up maybe hurting, dropping, or even winning this fight. Where in the top 10 heavyweights does Audley go to and where does Motor Mouth go from there?
#3 Do any of you rate Chagaev's chances vs either fighter? Given the fact that he's the #1 WBA challenger.
Chagaev has NOOOOOOO problem whatsoever against Harrison, and is 50-50 against Haye IMO. Haye has power speed and skills over limited Ruslan, but ANY durable fighter has a shot at Haye in the later rounds.
Audlei isn't a top 30 heavy, flippin ludicrous fight for a beltholder to consider.
I told you this fight was happening over two weeks ago. :)
This is sad that Haye is even considering this, there are far better opponents for Haye to fight and get ready for the Klits, but the truth is he is running scared. Smart business move but the lies of him wanting to fight the kilts are embarrassing.
can see where you all coming from but I'm all for this one
i) great domestic showdown the likes of which we not seen for years
ii) will sell
iii) if haye records an impressive blowout win we will be rid of audley who just won't fuck off from the scene AND it will generate much more interest in a Klitschko fight over here
iv) if audley wins it will be hilarious (and I'm a big Haye fan !) and he will get a shot at the Klits which will again generate much more interest
I know true boxing fans want Haye in with Klits now but financially long term this makes more sense for Haye and for boxing in the UK for the 'man on the street' type fan.
If we were in Haye's shoes and didn't want to be fighting for many more years then we would all take this option - it guarantees a few more million.
it simple...............
GREAT MONEY FOR AUDLEY.!
EASY FIGHT FOR HAYMAKER TO MAKE.!
2 FACT
AUDLE HAS NEVER DELIVERD AND WONT THIS TIME, HE LOST 11 ROUNDS IN HIS LAST FIGHT "NUFF SAID"
HAYE IF U EVER READ THESE PAGES " BE A MAN OF UR WORD DONT TAKE THE EASY FIGHT GIV US WHAT WE REALLY WANT" DONT TAKE A STEP BACKWARDS ITS ABOUT GOIN 4WARD GEEZA................
" I BELIVE "
Honest question, mostly for the UK guys. Would you pay for PPV or buy a ticket to see this fight (don't consider the undercard for the sake of argument). How do you feel your friends perceive this and would they pay for it?
Most of my mates don't know the next thing about boxing. I remember when the Hatton-Pacman fight came around, Sky were hyping it so much, it was on the sports news every half hour, the public really got into it. I told my mates that Hatton had on chance and two of my friends laughed at me. "Hatton is awesome, he'll kill him...". Told them to put their money where their mouth is, bet them both £50, easy money for me.
The fact of the matter is, bar quite a small number, the majority of UK boxing fans don't really know too much about the sport. All they see is David Haye gobbing off in the press, calling out 'the nasty brothers', they see 'David beating Goliath' and all this crap and they actually believe he is a world beater. I'm actually having a row on twitter at the moment with someone who believes that Haye isn't scared of the Klits, he is just 'getting more interest in the fight'. Two years of interest is more than enough imo.
Sky tv will, undoubtedly, put the fight on Sky Box Office, they'll charge £15 a pop, and a lot of people will buy it unfortunately. Again, due to Sky, they will promote it as a British boxing event of the decade or some crap like that, will probably show Audley's Prizefighter win, show his ko of Michael Sprott (not showing how he lost EVERY other round of the fight, and definitely won't mention how piss poor he has been for years.
Apologise for the long anti British rant but I just get wound up as I can see just how much publicity this fight is going to get and it is a joke. Audley Harrison ffs.
Oh, and I won't be paying for it. ;D
I'd absolutely love to see Audley get sparked and could you imagine how you'd feel if Audley sparked Haye and you hadn't watched it live? Either way it'd be a must see fight for me. A few people round, big barbeque session, few beers and an almost guaranteed fantastic sparking to watch. What's not to like?
....but in the end what is the point? It's not like Harrison has that ever so popular "British Title" and as you Brits are so keen to remind everyone Chicken Little has a world title belt and so what the fuck is the point for a "world class boxer" to fight a bum like Harrison when the "world class boxer" is getting very big, very serious offers to fight for THE titles?
This fight make the WBA title look like a trinket even more so than when Valuev had it.....how does that make you guys feel? Your boy is a WORSE title holder than Valuev!!!
There is no way in hell David Haye is scared of either Klitchsko. Its all about the money.
Harrison-Haye would make a bomb in this country and Haye would make a few million while waiting around for either Bitchsko to put a half worthy contract on the table.
I'm not defending Haye, Audley is garbage and was dominated by a journeyman Sprott in every round bar the last not so long ago. But Haye-Audley is where the money is at this point.
And how David Haye is "Scared" I do not know with the fighters he's last fought.
5/7 were ex world champions and 3 were current.
Ruiz
Valuev (Went to Germany to win HW championship of the world)
Barrett
Maccarinelli
Mormeck (Went to France to win CW championship of the world)
Bonin
Fragomeni
In today's Daily Star:

“David is a big puncher, there’s no doubt about that. But he is open to getting knocked out and that’s something I will exploit. There are massive world title fights out there for me. Obviously, one that I would want is that ‘Battle of Britain’ bout with Haye.”
#1 Wladimir put 50/50 on the table and there has yet to be a contract signed....not that signing a contract means much to the person in question (as history has shown)
#2 A fight vs Harrison may boost British views of him but on the World scale it's a huge step down and with the record of heavyweights this guy has fought that's saying a lot
#3 Ruiz is the only one I give any credit for him beating everyone else is crap. Valuev is a freak show and really he lost to an ancient Evander Holyfield right before Chicken Little got to him. Barrett although serviceable during his "prime" he was NEVER World Class. Mormeck (past his prime) actually floored Chicken Little. Bonin is shit, and Fragomeni was not an easy fight at all for Chicken Little...but being world class as a cruiserweight doesn't mean anything at heavyweight.
And as far as money is concerned let's take a quick peak at attendance for their last couple of fights....Wladimir had 61,000 at the fight vs Chagaev (which also pulled in big TV ratings in Germany) and 50,000 at the fight vs Chambers. The only thing keeping Wladimir off of HBO is that he's not American. Lennox Lewis has shown that a British heavyweight champ can get more than a fair shake from HBO, but oddly HBO hasn't shown much of the current WBA title holder's fights....I'd be hard pressed to name 1 HBO fight where he's been featured let alone on the undercard.....so let's not pretend that the money is all in the corner of the WBA title holder....the money is with Wlad
The problem with Haye fighting Harrison now in my opinion less has to do with the particular match-up and more has to do with Haye making a name for himself talking crap to the Klitschko's, and then after having been given the chance, not once, not twice, but THREE times, chooses not to fight them. If he had fought Vlad and won and then chose to to fight Harrison, I wouldn't put down the choice. Sure, from a financial viewpoint, I can see how fighting Harrison is sensible, but it's not like fighting him after a Klitschko would make any less sense and he has unfinished business with the Klitschko's. Deciding to fight Harrison now looks like he dodging the Klitschko's.
OK cleaned this thread up abit... lets stick to boxing chat and lose all the negative crap please.
