Like watching USA-Spain all over again (Swiss coach even said the game film he watched the most, over and over, was the Confederations Cup game.) You can bunker them. Push everything out wide, encourage them to cross the ball. Its not that easy but the gameplan is fairly straightforward.
And I think Reina is their best keeper at the moment but Casillas is the captain.
Chile-Spain is must see TV for soccer fans though. Chile would be offended by the idea of bunkering.
That was a fine result. Agreed about Chile/Spain, should be a quality game.
Torres slightly resembled a man yeserday. I was quite confused by it.
switzerland win against honduras would all but seal brazil vs spain in the 2nd round
:o:o:o
Argies looking the biz there attacking options are insane!!!
This is a rubbish World Cup so far. When the most exciting team is Germany things are pretty bad. Having said that I'm basing this opinion on reading a few bits in the papers, I've only watched the England game and little bits of a few others.
Spain have a habit of bottling it at World Cups. I really can't see them winning it. Should be quality if we do get Spain-Brazil in the last 16. But wouldn't it be great if Switzerland and Chile get through?
Bloody Germans are looking good I'd pick them for the win if I wasn't English!
I did say that far before the cup was starting but peoples were laughing at me: German have more chance to go further in the competition than most team: Most player are in the German leagues and their chemistry is damn good, plus they are tough physically and they play a style that normally traps and nullify the best elements of the other teams. I am surprised they did hit 4 goals though as I was expecting them to often win 2-1 or 1-0 with low scores. Thus far, it goes more or less as I anticipated:)
That groups going to be interesting, I could easily see Spain, Chile and Switzerland all with 6 points. Chile really should have beat Honduras 3-0 or so instead of 1-0, could hurt them in the end.
Oh for fuck's sake, France is awful.
England are lucky if they can make three passes before they give the ball away. Our technique is wanting at international level. From five years old the kids are put on a full size pitch, the two biggest kids are the centre halfs and they're told to lump it up to the strikers when they get the ball. This kick and rush style is what every single school level team does all the way through their teens up to the point where they sign for clubs. Meanwhile abroad a pitch gets split into five across and five five-a-side games get played, the kids get dozens of times more touches than the English kids watching the ball soar over their heads all game. Consequently they can pass, control the ball, dribble etc. infinitely better than English kids. Just watch any international and watch our centre halfs hoof it up, then watch teams pass us off the park. And in summer tournaments constantly giving the ball away means we're knacked by the second half. Luckily it's night games in their winter out there but our technique is still worse than everybody else, we'll go out on penalties or a straight defeat in the quarters.
I'll only say this where is the team from who has won the most CL? ;)
Chile the dark horses. I think they look fucking shit hot. Play some nice football.
Paraguay are looking pretty nifty as well, Lucas Barrios is a great finisher.
