FNF 7/16/10 - Judah vs. Santa Cruz

Well here we go FNF in Newark, New Jersey. The main event should be interesting, while Judah is the favorite here, I feel that he is going to have a hard time in the late goings against the rugged Santa Cruz.
I think the story at the end of the night will be that Judah STILL should be fighting at light welter. On the undercard local Newarkian Alex Perez will be showcased against Edvan "Close but no cigar" dos Santos Barros. If one of the cards ends up getting stopped we may also see former US olympian Sadam Ali against no-hoper Julius Edmunds.

Combine this with the Showtime card and we should have a pretty entertaining night of fights.

Zab Judah on FNF lol what a novel idea...is this guy even a gatekeeper anymore? And why he isn't at 140 especially at this point in his....uhhh..career is beyond me. Pow bang bang boom sayd Noel :rolleyes:

Should be an interesting fight. I don't think I've ever seen Santa Cruz, he's the guy who got robbed against Casamayor, right?

You are correct. He's a tall lanky guy, so Judah's uppercut could look spectacular against him in the early rounds, he's pretty rugged and a pretty decent boxer but he can get rocked. It's actually a very good challenge for Judah at this point in his career.

Not much to discuss or predict here. Judah is both the great and crap during each of his fights. Since no one can predict what's in this guys head you really have no way to know what the hell is going to happen. Santa cruz beat casa so he's more than capable of beating judah. And that's what's sad, really anyone is capable of beating judah, and if not just sit around and let him beat himself. No prediction from me but i wouldn't be surprised to see judah loose.......again.

Furthermore, Santa Cruz has a pretty high work rate typically, so we get to see if Judah can handle the volume. I can't remember off the top of my head Judah ever facing a high volume opponent.

Down goes Judah...and the crowd goes wild.Well let's hope.Good for him taking on a decent opponent though.

He's going to avenge Edner Cherry who got robbed against Santa Cruz.

i was there at the fight the night santa cruz beat edner cherry. it was a close fight but santa cruz deserved the victory. no robbery there!

...some decent fights tonight. What the heck...as much as i'd hate too see how it would go to his head, i'd like to see judah win impressive for old times sake. I heard that kid ali has a nice gym he opened up back east.

Fun fact Flores hasn't fought in 11 months now.

Easy round for Perez, Santos is just sloppy with his footwork and looks like he's been sparring against guys that only throw one punch at a time

Santos has a moment at the end with Perez on the ropes, nothing damaging but a lot more effective than trying to jump in. It was not enough for me to give him the round.

About as good of a round as we can expect from these guys, Perez looking a little stronger even though the exchanges were pretty even. Perez round

Perez throws the ugliest punches I've seen in awhile, I guess he had no am exp. Slapping alot of shots, off balance alot. Alot to improve on....

Atlas is going to tear Grant fight apart...or Grant

Pretty slow round, I'd give it to Barros just on getting where he needs to be. Nice exchange at the end.

I thought Perez was gonna wilt there for a sec earlier on, but he looks like he's gonna make it.

Giving that one to Barros as well, I'm shocked Perez doesn't have this figured out yet.

Everytime I see Atlas discuss Grant he says hes in serious danger of taking damage...cant argue with him too much.Hope they find another guy

This fight seems to have gotten closer in a odd way

Barros should be pressing more here in the final round. He's got to know there is no way he is winning a close fight.

Closes with a Perez round, certainly not a convincing victory by any stretch
