Why not Cotto vs Margarito II
I know many dont want to see Tony earn another big payday but IMO a rematch should be demanded because of the question marks surrounding the result of the first fight.
They can have the fight in Puerto Rico or Mexico. I think that could be huge. I personally believe Cotto avenges his lost in a very brutal fashion.
Re: Why not Cotto vs Margarito II
It would be a huge match, but would Cotto take it on?
I don't think Margarito should be in any fights, let alone all of these massive ones he's being banded around for.
But I would like to see Cotto avenge that loss.
Re: Why not Cotto vs Margarito II
If they make it at 154, Cotto gets the lion share of the purse big time, then I'll be ok with it.

I find it a bit ridiculous for Pac and his team to be looking for Cotto II just to score another easy weight title. Even worse, to see Pac fans totally rooting for that fight. It's not so much because "Oh my gawd, that will be such a great fight" but more like "There's an easy opportunity to win another weight title, go go go".
I thought boxing fans enjoyed seeing challenging fights not just easy fights.

I believe that was arum's plan if pacman maywhehter was made.
Re: Why not Cotto vs Margarito II
would much prefer to see Cotto v Pac man 2 with no restrictions on weight, I believe Cotto stands a good chance.

Before reading the the entire post I got as far as the bold part and thought (only the cotto supporters have questions) then continued to read came to your last statement and it was confirmed.
The fight would be the exact same except Marga would finish him earlier because he'd be out to prove that he didn't need bricks to beat Cotto, and after Cotto realizes that he cant hurt Margarito he'll quit or his corner will....

No there's question marks because Antonio Margarito in his last fight, showed none of the thudding power he did in fights against Golden Johnson or ETC. Infact his punches looked quite weak IMO, and he never came close to stopping his opponent who was mediocre at best.
And this was the same guy who almost tore off Sebastian Andres Lujan's ear, destroyed Golden Johnson in 1 round with a terrfic show of power. And busted Miguel Cotto's face up totally.
Yet in the 2 fights we knew he was actually legit in, his thudding power seemed to disappear. Coincidence ? i think not.

He didnt get land anything on Mosley and mosley smothered the shit out of him.
He was legit in the cotto fight as well. Go watch the tape, see for yourself as kenny bayless grabs him by the hand with his wraps still on, watch cotto shake his hand with the wraps on. Now if they were supposedly hard as cement wouldn't they have noticed? Did he have bricks in his face that allowed him to walk cotto down? WAs manny and judah roided out because they busted him too. Hell even Paulie gave Cotto swelling....
Re: Why not Cotto vs Margarito II
Now that Cotto is training with Emanuel I see him a lot more focused, I would say a new Cotto. If he had this type of focus earlier in his career I guess he could be another Tito in Puerto Rico, and probably would not have those brutal losses (could loose, but probably in a different way). Now Cotto is more open in interviews, he is studying the fighters before the fight, watching tapes after the fight to study his mistakes, which is something that he would never do before. A totally different Cotto (thanks Emanuel). My question is how much he could be affected psycologically after those loses. Other than that, I think Cotto can score a big win with Margarito, but to be honest I don't mind if Margarito never fight again after that cheeting. But by the way, Cotto has opened the doors for that re-match.
With Pacman... still a tough one, but I guess it could be a lot more competitive making a different fight style. I think Cotto believe that with one big punch he could finish Pacman and he and his team were totally wrong. If Cotto had box better in the early rounds he could probably hurt Pacman late in the fight. With that said, I wish Cotto has a second chance with Pacman and see what happens (no restrictions in weight, training with Emanuel ;)).

Nah, didnt see it. I'll watch it now though. But let's no forget he'd been away for year and I heard he won every round...but I'll go DL it now...
Re: Why not Cotto vs Margarito II
I figure that Margarito fighting again is okay with me. I've gotten over the incident. Still, I'd rather seem him face new opponents then hear all the speculation that would come with Cotto Vs. Margarito II.
Besides if Cotto would lose again then Margarito's blemish would be lifted in a sense. I'd puke.

Just make Pacquiao fight @ 140..
Re: Why not Cotto vs Margarito II
IMO...
Because Margarito should never be allowed to fight again.
Less we forget Resto-Collins?
Thank god it didn't end that way but it could have...

I'll be honest, I wasn't aware of what happened during that fight. Just checked up on it on wikipedia. Bloody hell, tragic. :-\

A horrible tragic story...
You should do more research on it. I could easily paste links and stuff but it's more exciting when you do the search yourself... ;)
There's a doc. film on the event, the fight is on YouTube if your interested in seeing it. I haven't and there's loads of pictures of what Collins face looked like after the fight.

Done a bit of research on it this moring. Jesus wept, his face at the end of the fight. :o What I found hard to believe was when his father realised he had padding out of his gloves, he called in the commissioner but then didn't seem to do much else. Then Resto was all smiles and dancing around the ring. I am surpised his father didn't try to throttle him after seeing the damage it had done to his face. What annoys me is, Resto got two years in prison along with his trainer, that is what should have happened to Margarito. Fair enough he didn't fight with the plaster but the intent was there and he would've worn them into the bout had they not been discovered by Nazim Richardson. He could've done the same, if not worse, damage to Mosley. Even Cotto's face was reminiscent of Collin's face after the Resto fight.

Spot on koppas...
and to think that trainer Panama has gotten involved with boxing again just kills me.
He and Resto deserved to be jailed for life.
Re: Why not Cotto vs Margarito II
Margarito dominated Cotto and gave him a beating. That would have boosted his ego and self-confidence.
His next fight was against Mosley who had been beaten by the boxer he just busted. Why would he then use loaded gloves in that fight when he didn't need it before? It just doesn't make sense.
Conclusion: He was already 'dirty' in the Cotto fight.
Cotto vs Margarito II will put them in an even playing field.

Perhaps because mosley had never been stopped before, had a solid chin, only been hurt once in his entire career...
Get over it!!! Margarito kicked the shit out of Cotto fair and square, anyone who watched Cotto run from mosley the last three rounds knew he wasn't going to get away from Margarito. In fact that's why some people on here changed their pick from Cotto to Margarito after seeing Miquel run from Mosley.

You mean Margarito loaded his gloves to stop Mosley. He did not need to stop Mosley in order to beat him. Sugar Shane had already 4 lost prior to that fight. It isn't like he is unbeatable.
Besides, any boxer whose face is being pummeled by bricks will be running the last three rounds, probably even earlier.

Cotto ran from mosley were his gloves loaded?, then ran from pac too were his gloves loaded?...
