I think Wlad-Peter II is a huge fight. Sam has gotten in shape he looked really good vs Aguillera and Wlad is completely on top of his game right now, this should be a great fight. Peter knows what is on the line and Wlad is still looking to make an example out of someone, this will end in a KO!
Wlad KO's a game Sam Peter in 6
I cant get the sight of a bloated and lethargic Peter simply phoning it in vs Eddie chambers outta my mind.I dont think hes earned it but hey,it could be worse. At least Wlad is going on with a fight?!
Much worse replacement opponents out there. Teddy is right povetkin needs more time, not sure if he will ever be ready for wlad, probably won't, but he's definitely not ready at the moment, let him fight 2 or 3 more contenders. I also think wlad will be looking for the ko, but won't go to risk crazy and probably will look to get petter out around the 9th or 10th.
I think we can all agree Atlas is doing right by his fighter and I think Povetkin has plenty of top notch fights out there he can test himself with and develop himself.
Povetkin vs the following would be nice: Dimitrenko, Boytsov, Arreola, Solis, Adamek, Austin (not good but, tall and decent enough), Valuev, Chagaev, Chicken Little. Povetkin has serious upside and part of me is happy that he'll live to fight another day.
I personally think that anyone that can break through Tony Thompson's defense and mess him up good would have a better shot at beating Wladimir.
The Peter that McCline dropped three times was it? And that Eddie Chambers in worse shape then he was for Wladimer was still able to outbox. Peter isn't gonna catch Wladimer and drop him three times. Wladimer will knock him out in 12 as always after 11 rounds of jab and grab.
He doesn't grab as much as he did when he first fought Peter. Wlad has evolved and he's so much more comfortable in the ring that he had been (after the Sanders fight at least, he was too comfortable with him). Wlad fights smart, his jab is better than ever and I think this fight will be Sam Peter adding pressure and Wlad brushing him off with jabs, hooks off the jab, and when he's set he'll drop in the right cross and this time Wlad will throw for effect(which means he'll be gunning for the KO instead of just to keep Sam off him) and if Sam can stand it he could wear Wlad down if he's in proper shape and uses good defense.
I really like this fight and I will buy it on PPV if that's where it ends up.
I enjoyed the last fight, so I think it'll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
Lost all respect to Povetkin. There is no one in the world who can convince me that he is not scared.
Why Peter?
David haye's schedule isn't exactly looking packed ()... for Wlad's sake I hope as soon as Povetkin was out he was on the phone to haye and Haye turned it down? ???
I thought he really wanted to fight Haye? perfect chance to make it happen. what happened?
Povetkin has not fought the best opponents recently, he needs to step up his game a bit before tangling with Wlad.
I think with Wlad-Peter II we'll see what we should have seen the first time two dangerous fighters in their primes and at the top of their games. Remember Wlad knows he can hurt Peter (look for the left hook to be used more) but Wlad also knows Sam Peter can hurt him. I really enjoyed the first fight they had, very dramatic from start to finish.
Haye turned down Wlad's 50/50 deal with no rematch clause involved, and that's why the Povetkin fight was going through to begin with, don't try to turn the facts around and make Wlad seem like he's the one avoiding the fight when it's clearly the other way around, if Haye thinks he deserves the lion share of the purse against the actual Heavyweight Champion of the world well the guy should seriously get over himself
What "Come on Lyle"?!? I think this is a very solid fight and as Dan Rafael said "Both fighters are better than they were in 2005", it should be a heck of a fight.
Teddy Atlas just basically admitted that he didn't want his boy to fight Wlad. Smart move by Teddy, but they do look like little punks for ducking like this. Blatantly ducking, and at such a high level...its a shame
It is without a doubt not a huge fight. Its absurdly far away from being a huge fight.
And Rafael's a moron if he thinks Peter's better than he was in 2005. His chin has been cracked somewhat and he's at best still the same guy other than that.
#1 When has Peter been in beter shape than his last fighy?
#2 Yes he's been hurt recently but Wlad was the first to hurt him and he's never been "KO'd" only TKO'd and McCline was no slouch.
I think its a great fight, Wlad and Sam have history, both know about the strengths and weaknesses of each other and I think both are desperate to prove themselves given past performances and news
Wlad cracked his chin if anyone did, I totally agree with that, but its been cracked, it hasn't looked the same since.
I thought he looked pretty awful last time out. He's going to get hammered. There's no need for any hype. HBO hopefully won't waste the money on televising it.
#1 Peter looked fantastic vs Aguillera
#2 Bernd Boente said Wlad said "he will never fight on HBO again" he said he would rather take less money and fight on Showtime or PPV or whatever because he feels HBO disrespected him in not carrying the Povetkin fight.
#3 Sam Peter is the last guy to hurt Wlad, its a big fight
Sam peter is a big fat joke bum.
Povetkin is now a bum too.
theres only one heavy weight fight people want to see.
and Peter is also the Last Dangerous BANGER Wlad faced, (not trying to say that his competition was weak, he fought the best there was, but style-wise, all of Wlad's opponents were Boxers Think-ers, none of them was a DO-er like Peter)
not sure if it is a big fight, but if Peter comes in at around 225, then it can be an EXCITING fight...
Perhaps Haye & Povetkin will fight each other?
That's great! Even better. Peters exposing Wlad's glass jaw again. Can't wait.
I think Haye does want to fight wlad. Haye has stated that the reason why the fight didn't happen is because Wlad wanted a cut of the brit PPV sales, where as haye wanted them for him self and let wlad have the money generated from PPV sales in his neck of the woods and everything else 50/50 and personally I think that was fair. Wlad wanted a cut or brit PPV though.
As long as no one beats haye or wlad anytime soon i'm confident the fight will happen.
No they were going to pool the PPV (British and other) money and split it in half, that's what we call 50/50.
sorry but you are mis informed
And i don't think you have your facts straight. But then if wlad said it would be a good idea for fat americans to throw themselves off a cliff you'd be first in line.
Did my comments irk you?
Well I for one hope you enjoy the media circus that will lead up to that marvelous Audley Harrison fight that EVERYONE is just drooling for. We only have about 2-3 months to wait through the smoke screen of "possible opponents" and then another couple of months of hyping the fight....ooooh that's going to be fun.
No you haven't irked me. Maybe if you were stating facts......
For those of us who are completely nauseated by the Mayweather-Pacquiao posturing, we hate to see this happening in any other division. Challenger A wants to fight Champion B... he goes about the business of getting the fight. The onus is on him. If Haye REALLY wants to fight Wlad, he needs to shut his damn mouth about regional PPV splits (new one on me), and show the public he really wants to fight. And after all the shet he's talked, it would be a real downer if now he decides to back out due to PPV splits.
Smells like chickenshet to me.
Greetings everyone,
I back Teddy's opinion 100% about the readiness of Povetkin. If anybodys knows, Teddy knows. No sense in dereailing a promising career this early.
The Sam Peter rematch IS exciting. Wlad had his hands very full the first fight. I think Wlad has gone on to improve greatly while Sam has dipped and rebounded and ultimately may be where he was during the first encounter. This time, however, I think Wlad deals with Sam more aggressively and with the proper caution. I think he makes Sam quit on his stool ala Vitali during his comeback fight.
David Haye. Ah the irony. What's perplexing is that David actually HAS the speed and crispness to bother Wlad. I dont think he would beat little brother, but I think it would be a good fight until late. I dont think David KNOWS he'll be beaten by Wlad, but he strongly SUSPECTS it, and knows it will be the end of the hype. I'd say no a little longer too if i was him. His window is closing fast enough already.
1. Challenger calls out Champion, Champion accepts the challenge and then Challenger refuses 1st fight due to back injury, refuses 2nd fight due to Sentanta bankruptcy, refuses fight vs Champion's brother due to "issues with contract" which was the same/similar contract as fights 1 and 2, Challenger wins TRINKET title but Champion digresses and offers 50/50 contract which the Challenger refuses yet again and Challenger decides on pot luck his management leaning heavily towards a local fighter with a mere tomato can to any other top tier heavyweight....tell me you side with the Challenger.
2. With attacks like that you show how weak your argument is. I suggest you refrain from that kind of posting for the sake of your reputation on this forum, I have tried my best to treat you with respect, won't you oblige me and do the same in return?
But you don't have an argument.
Seems to me that you are the one with no argument...or no solid one at that. You try to make me angry and distract me from the argument by calling me a "fat American" (which honestly is a remark that is beneath you).
OK, I'll ask you this, given that neither Alexander Povetkin nor the WBA title holder (for whatever reason, contracts, health, experience, etc) who should Wladimir Klitschko fight? Who is valid in the division, who is worthy of THE title shot?
I think you need to go back and re reead the conversation then. Especially the bt where I point out your contradicting oppinions on the IBF ranking.
David Haye. He's the only fight any one wants to see.... BUT while that fight isn't happening we shouldn't be trying to convince ourselves that peter or whoever are going to make for a good competetive fight.
i'm not exactly filling the forum with posts saying how great an opponant Audley is for Haye.
