Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
just read this in the paper, and well Floyd's here in Puerto Rico and is going to be meeting up with Miguel Cotto, but that he's not at liberty to discuss what the meeting is about, although it's pretty obvious
A la mesa Cotto y Mayweather Jr. - El Nuevo Día
(the article is in spanish)
i hope Cotto doesn't take the fight, i'd rather have him get used to working with Steward and see if he can sharpen up a bit

Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
Floyd flew down there just to see a couple of c0cks slash each other.

Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
It is too obvious and public so the fight will not happen, it must be negociation ploy to get Pac Man.
Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
Hhhhhmmmm do I smell a Mayweather vs Cotto initial conversations? Besides, lots of people in here have mentioned before how much they want this fight and how much they see Cotto giving Mayweather a total beating.

Yeah right!!!!
Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
I think its always been a neat fight because Cotto has good timing, and he is a good body puncher, I don't think he can win, but he does better than most people, and maybe even better than Manny or MOsley would. He's not great with dealing with volume of punches like PAcquiao and Margarito threw at him, but he adjusted well to Judah and MOsley's speed and in terms of fighitng speed was faster than them and quicker to the punch.

As soon as I heard Pacquiao was going to fight Margarito, I immediately thought about Mayweather looking for a fight with Cotto.
I actually think both these fights are worthy enough to be excited about. Pac vs Margarito is going to be an interesting fight, I don't think he deserves it but it will be interesting. Cotto and Mayweather fighting is something I, and many others here would like to see.
Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
JonesJrMayweather,
I don't see that either but lots of people here have said before how Floyd is terrified by Miguel and how he will totally be destroyed. An interesting match. Hope it happens.

Yes, it will be interesting. This time both Pac and Floyd will be fighting some interesting matches not like the last one where Pac faced Clottey while Floyd faced Shane, which seemed more competitive.
Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
Floyd will piss on him.
This is pretty much public sparring just to make sure he won't get ring rusty.
He won't be signing anything until roger's situation is sorted though.
Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
Is this why Cotto was fighting Foreman last time out ??? Just saying. Not keen on this one...hope he's just soaking up the sun.
Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
mayweather jr. will absolutely toy with cotto if this fight materializes. cotto can beat a yuri foreman but no way in hell he beats the sports #1 p4p fighter!
Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
This would have been a great fight about two years ago.
Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
Cotto has more chance of victory to win at light middle but still think he is damaged goods after his beating by Marg.

Exactly, right when Mayweather did his little retirement thing...
Also everyone is quoting how people here were saying Cotto would destroy Mayweather, that was also 2 or 3 years ago before Cotto faced Margarito.. Before we had really seen his serious limitations, when he really did seem incredibly strong, tough, and punishing opponent...
I havn't read once in the last 2 years though someone saying he would destroy Mayweather... And I think all those people who thought it back then will have changed their mind now, so it's irrelevant quoting them....
It's a fight i'd still like to see though if they can make it happen at 154. Simply because Cotto deserves it and I wanted to see the fight for so long that I would enjoy it regardless of whether Cotto can shine or not. Mayweather will be to strong at either 147 or 154, but at least put Mayweather out of his comfort zone in some form by making it at 154...
My theory on any boxer though, is you never know exactly how great they are, until you see how great someone has to be to beat them... It's only when Floyd's zero goes can we really judge his brilliance..
As said above, while Cotto was undefeated, and Hatton undefeated, it's easy to people to invision a way they could beat Mayweather.. But once someone gets the better of them, you can put their skills into perspective..
Purely as an appreciate of boxing, I just wish Mayweather would take some serious fights that took him all the way up to his limits.... A fight with Cotto isn't going to show us anything new about him except his ability to make otherwise A grade fighters like B grade.... If may mean going to 154 or even higher, but that's seriously what i'd like to see him do... I think he's special enough to do that.....
Pac is THE man at anything below 154.. If Mayweather's not fighting Pac, then he should settle for nothing less than serious 154 pound fighters.. Otherwise he's wasting his time... Period...

same can be said about Margarito against Pacquiao ;), he can beat up local tomato cans but no way is he going to beat the p4p #2 (or #1 depending on who's list) fighter in the world, hell the only reason he'll last longer than Hatton is cause he's physically bigger lol and Margarito at 154 is crap (as seen against Santos) the only reason he was effective at 147 (aside from illegal wraps) was due to his size, once you take that away he's a 2nd tier fighter, Pacquiao stops him in 10, and Mayweather schools Cotto to a lopsided UD
Re: Mayweather in Puerto Rico...
Mayweather in a UD, and manny in stoppage around 9-10. Then we get to talk about the negotiations all over again in December. It's like a broken record.
