should dirrell be removed from the super 6?

I remember the opening night of the tournament, being a boxing fan i had been excited about it for some time

watching the first fight between taylor and abraham i wasnt disapointed, both men looking to land punches and both trying to win

then the fight was over and i hoped for more of the same

in step dirrell, his unwillingness to engage was a disgrace, he ran and he ran and made it one of the worst fights i have seen and carl froch hadnt ever been in a bad fight before

not long before i had seen one of froch's old foes matthew barney disqualified early in a fight by richie davies for too much holding, if richie had been the ref that night it wouldnt have lasted 3 rounds

then dirrells 2nd fight, admittedly it was a little more entertaining (he couldnt have made it any worse) probably because abraham didnt hunt as much as froch did dirrell dint run as much, but the performance at the end? I have actually read in places people believing he wasnt play acting

my my, the crying as well when the result was being read out

I have heard many people, specially on this forum, say that MMA is taking fans from boxing, well if anything is going to do that andre dirrell is your man

this is suppose to be boxings premier tournament

No doubt about it in my eyes he play acted. I honestly can't see how anybody else can say it was genuine. It was ridiculous.

That aside, he shouldn't be removed.

I personally think that the Abraham one deserved a DQ though, he had quite a bit of time to stop/not throw the punch. Also I wouldn't be suprised if Dirrell beat Ward!

you could argue that abraham deserved it, i think he probably did

but like has already been said it happens so regular, even now, it would never stop

i think both the play acting and the performance against froch deserve at least some public torture

I totally agree that his performance vs Froch was a shambles but I was super impressed by him upto the end against Abraham. I thought he boxed the perfect fight and beforehand I expected Arthur to catch him around the middle rounds and then destroy him. I was wrong. Very wrong. Dirrell showed me he has got real quality in that fight.

I try to think past his acting and try and appreciate what he did beforehand and then look forward to his next fight. When all is said and done he HAS to win and I see him impressing again.

He was very good up until the last few rounds, he looked like he was in complete control until he got hit with that one big shot, then he looked a little shaken and seemed like he was going to go into his shell again.

I was suprised by how one sided most the fight was in his favour.

Will Froch learn from that and outbox Abraham? I doubt it.

You could even argue that it wasn't the knockdown shot that KO'd him, it was the one the uppercut when he was sat on his ass that put him to sleep.

It's hijacking this thread a little, but there are loads of Tyson on floor shots we could put up. I'd be curious to see how many we could find!

It's just something that comes with a fight where you get to wear gloves, fight defensively almost every round, and clinch without warning. (Dirrel)

Dirrel should not be removed, but I think he is my least favorite part about this tournament.

And your boy Froch is not all that great either. He needs to take a note from Margarito or Maidana, by learning how to effectively cut off the ring against skilled defensive fighters. If he was effective against fighters who could move, it would make the tournament a little more interesting.

im not saying froch is the most gifted boxer, and im not siding with him in particular

all the other boxers in the tournament have given us entertainment including Taylor

dirrell did everything to make the froch fight a dull fight, and yes he was on the way to redeeming (spelling) himself in the abraham fight, but then he did what he did

I agree that the Froch fight was horrible, he held and ran for most of the fight. It looked like he dodn't really want to fight. Should he be removed? No , he fought a great fight against Abraham, he has great boxing ability and i'm really looking forward to him and Ward going at it. Regadless of what happened at the end of the AA fight he still outboxed him for 11 rounds.

then again i watched a commonwealth light-middleweight fight not that long ago between john odonnell and craig watson and i felt watson walked it, i thought you could have argued 1 round for odonnell, but the judges and barry mcguigan disagreed

Abraham does have the one punch power, but nothing in the previous 11 rounds showed me that he was able to do it that night.

Dirrell is talented and should stay in for sure. Anyone interested in the act of being hit while on the way down or down simply has to download the Sakio Bika vs Jean paul mendy fight I added to the file sharing area. Truly unreal, makes Abrahams swing at Dirrell look like a joke.....

I thought Dirrell took it by a few rounds, but I haven't re-watched so I can't say whether I'd see it the same way if I saw it again. Awful fight though. No way he should be removed, the fight with Abraham was a great performance, the controversy over the end shouldn't detract from what was a very dominant display.

Dirrel shouldnt be removed. He is no worse than Ward who wrestles and headbutts his way through fights. Dirrell may be abit of a coward but for pure skill he is up there.

if you remove direll for acting, then remove abraham for giving direll the open door to do it. Amazing to see the guy catching the illegal blow catching shit. Abraham supposidly is this huge puncher and strong beast yet he was getting his ass kicked by this guy who supposidly is crap..c'mon. Oh yea direll is to blame for fans leaving, not b.s. promoters, crappy match up's, worthless belts and ranking systems , stupid catchweights etc.....Direll's acting is horrible yet margarito acting like he didn't know he was cheating is ok ??? Speaking of acting abraham's acting wasn't so great either, as all of the sudden his comprehention of the english language was gone and he had no idea it was wrong to hit a guy even if you had to bend damn near halfway over and hit a guy down so far his shoelaces even tried to duck. Acting like he didn't know where the next fight was when they already agreed and then threatned to take his ball and go home if he didn't get his way. Exactly. Abraham fucked up bottom line. Whether or not Dirrell was acting, the bottom line was Abraham was getting outboxed for the majority of rounds and then whether or not he intended to hit Dirrel while he was down, he still hit him. It's a justifiable DQ. Sort of like Jones-Griffin 1, Jones fucked up while hitting the guy while he was down.

Nobody disputes Abraham messed up by hitting Dirrell but Andre had a choice and he took the easy way out. not what you wana see from a young fighter

The only thing that was more ridiculous than the leg twitching was listening to Showtime's WWE/Jim Ross style commentary. Abraham should have been dq'd either way for hitting after the guy is down. It shouldn't have mattered whether Dirrell was out or not. In my opinion, he wasn't acting either. He was hurt.

This is a stupid post. Is Dirrell the most fun to watch? No. Was his fight versus Froch a disgrace? Yes. Does he need to redeem himself against Ward? Yes. But, he is in it at this point as much as the next guy.

I don't like Andre Dirrell but he did beat Carl Froch, and it was Arthur Abraham's fault whether Andre Dirrell acted or not.

I ran out of the house crying. I actually thought he was dead. I only cheered up when the Ice Cream man came round.

Yeah agreed on Abraham. It was still his fault, and the decision was the correct one.
