Rocky Martinez-Ricky Burns - Saturday 9pm Sky Sports 1 - Who Wins?

Burns has struggled with pressure exerted by British level fighters - Carl Johanneson, a faded Michael Gomez and Kevin O'Hara. Quite simply he can't punch for toffee. He can't keep good fighters off.

This fight will be a carbon copy of Martinez-Cook, no? Burns will look good for a few rounds boxing and moving until the Puerto Rican catches up to him.

7/4 for the stoppage is a decent-ish bet - yes or no?

Deffo good bet Matinez will stop him imo.

I read earlier the Martinez KO opened up at 5/2!!! What a bet that would have been, I need to get back on the ball.

How do you see Smith-Simpson going? Seems a lot of confidence behind the underdog Smith

I don't know mate I have been super impressed with Simpson recently and Smith with all this talent like I said in another thread alot of fellow pro's say he is the best prospect in the country, all the money is for Simpson they opened up more or less 5/6, I fancy Simpson I think it has come a little to early for Smith. But deffo tough one to call.

Martinez should beat him handily. Can't quite believe Burns has landed a shot. Good luck to him though.

That KO is into 6/4 now. I've gone for Smith in a few doubles and trebles too.

Rocky Martinez by mid round TKO

Had £20 double on Martinez stoppage and Simpson win pays just under £90.

Wow big money for Smith 4/6 he was 11/10 this morning.

Very early doors but might of got this badly wrong, haha Smith so far only first round looks a class above.

Anyone else watching this??

Simpson coming into it a bit now making it a rough fight his only chance as Smith is much better fluid boxer.

4-2 Smith but Simpson is finding his shots now and is looking like he has made this his fight.

BOOM nice body shot from Smith Simpson rocked looked hurt, warming up nicely this.

5-3 Smith for me.

Fairly tight so far, Simpson nudging ahead probably in my view, but it's all up for grabs still.

As for Martinez v Burns, I've only got one clear winner in Martinez, Burns will try hard for the early rounds with the home support right behind him, but class will out in the middle rounds in my view.

Simpson is taking over think he has times this to perfection.

Wow 116=112 was a bit wide I would say. I had Simpson winning. Smith looked a million dollers first three rounds then was an ugly fight with Smith holding alot.

Shush with your moaning Skel! Some of us have cheesecake to eat.... priorities y'know. Was also surprised with the 116-112 score, thought Simpson had scraped it. Smith was very respectful in winning though, his fight with Martin Lindsay might be too much too soon.

I suppose it would be good to see Burns pull off the miraculous, but the odds say it all really. If you're the home fighter and at 3/1, the chances are slim to none.

Burns is doing ok here, Martinez I think has got a bit exicited with that knockdown, just love to know a guy with Ricky Burns record has got to number 1 at the WBO? Oh forgot his promoter is Warren. ;D

Burns getting some good shots off and rattling Martinez, but once Martinez comes forward, Burns looks in a world of trouble. Got to say that Burns has probably tied it up on my card after that knockdown.

Fuck me this is a class fight Burns in control in that round then BOOM Martinez has him badly hurt, great fight.

Martinez reminds me of Prescott the way he fights. The commentary make me laugh. Martinez has Burns hanging on for dear life and they say Martinez is the guy in trouble.

Wow have I got this wrong Martinez is sloppy as fuck he makes Carlos Maussa look textbook. If Burns had power he could stop him, very surprised with Burns here very impressed so far.

Martinez seems to just have his right hand as his plan. Burns is the more vulnerable, but is outworking Martinez at the moment.

This has to be performance of the year so far from a brit Hats off to Burns.

Exactly Skel, when he's throwing he looks very good, landing big punches, but when he sat on them ropes, I thought he was going to get hit to his arse again. If he wants to rest his arms, he has to use his legs.

Martinez looks to have underestimated Burns perhaps.

That sixth round with Burns looking slightly gassed for periods didn't fill me with confidence, and as you mentioned Martinez has equalizer power. Come on Burnsy.

I thought that was a better round for Burns...gave him that one after two to Martinez. Burns boxes in bursts from behind a tight guard, doesn't sit on the ropes, and he will have me eating my words.

If Burns can hold it together for 3 more rounds he is the world champ but he gets hurt in every round . . . . .
