I actually think Hopkins is still capable of turning Pascal over. Only problem is he'll make it a horrible fight to watch in the process.
could this be the fight where hopkins turns into an oldman in the ring and get's KO'ed
I got a soft spot for hopkins. He shook my hand in vegas a few years back. :cool:
Pascal wins this for me comfortably.
This is going to be one hell of a borring fight imo. I think b hop has enough tricks in the bag to beat pascal tho. If pascal fights at the pace he fought dawson it will be perfect for hop and play right into his hands. Anyways not a fight I want to see and really hop should retire just because his skills definitely are diminishing and his workrate is crap.
I think people are taking too much away from Hopkins for the Roy Jones Jr fight not realizing that while a lot of what Roy may not be effective against guys with high outputs anymore, that he was still a wiley old fuck with a lot of tricky moves, and Bernard for a lot of it matched that trickery. It's something that most of these new guys can't replicate except maybe Andre Ward. It's totally different because of these other guys haven't learned the core principles to make them highly effective in any situation. I think its largely due to the amateur system in boxing, but also guys who are highly athletic are forgetting that it doesn't hurt to be creative and innovative. They tend to fall into the pragmatized aspect of the sport.
Hopkins by UD. Pascal is a rugged fighter. Dawson somehow exposed Pascal's weakness in last couple of rounds and Bhop will use that blueprint.
OK, if Hopkins can muster at least 3 4 minute breaks in the action then I actually think he is going to beat Pascal. Unreal, I wonder what the odds on this will be.
Key to beat Hopkins: Win the early rounds by throwing a lot of shots and avoid the grab or it'll be the freakiest acting show ever.
Not sure i want to watch this. Pascal is on a roll. Hopkins will do anything he can to spoil the fight.
P ascal is a moron for even taking this fight!!!! A fight with Bute could have been made for sure if they worked at it!!! A fight with Bute would have been BIG BIG money and possibly the biggest fight in the history of Canada!!!!
A loss to Hopkins will crush that fight...It can still happen but the money won't be there
Hopkins will use his patented fouling, spoiling, counter-butting style to take away Pascal's workrate and bore his way to a disputed decision. I'm not sure who will win, but I'm sure it will be boring and ugly and I will once against be praying for Hopkins retirement.

I think this is one fight to far for Hopkins I hope there is good odds on Pascal he will be to active for Hopkins with it in Canada as well looks good to me.

I can see the reasoning in taking the fight. Nice earner against a faded Bhop who still a good profile.
After a big win against someone like Chad Dawson most fighters would have gone for a nice easy defence rather than an awkward customer like Hopkins.

I would be extremely hard-pressed to find anyone who knows who either guy is. Regarding Bute, I think his career has really been badly effected by the Super 6, the controversial first Andrade fight, and his contract with HBO. I don't know how feasible it would have been business-wise, but I really think he would have been a part of the Super 6 had he not had to rematch Andrade. Hopefully with Kessler and Green dropping out, he'll be able to land a big-ish fight after he pummels Brinkley, but he's not getting any younger. It's too bad, because I feel he's arguably the second best SMW on the planet and he just hasn't had the opportunity to prove it. I see him beating almost everyone in the Super 6 and I could even seen him beating Ward (though I would heavily favor Ward).

As far as who is better opinions vary and I guess my Avatar speaks for who I would back BUT if you read my post correct and did not jump on the who is better issue so quickly you would see that my point was financial AND of worth in the eyes of boxing fans....They are the 2 biggest Canadian fighters going right now perhaps in the last 2 decades.....They are also considered the 2 best in each of thier perspective divisions....Quote:

It would be a great fight no matter who won but it would be a big fight in terms of Quality, in terms of money to be made and in terms of what the fans want....A win win win all around

As for the Brinkley fight we all know why that is taking place so lets not pretend Bute is cherry picking
I don't mind this fight actually. I never tire of seeing Hopkins lose close, ugly and tedious decisions. Pascal will try and outwork Hopkins like Calzaghe and get mugged somewhat along the way. Won't be a fun fight, but maybe the end of Hopkins and a chance to put to rest that silly talk about going up to HW.
