Wladimir Klitschko-Sam Peter II

The first time Wlad was at a low point in his career, 4-2 in his last 6 fights suffering 2 KO's to Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster he was uncomfortable in the ring and just getting used to Manny Steward in his corner. Sam Peter was quite the opposite, he was undefeated, showed huge power and was seemingly invincible.

Flash forward 5 years and now Sam Peter is at the crossroads of his career, he's 4-2 in his last 6, been stopped (for the first time) by Vitali Klitschko and lost a decision vs Eddie Chambers. Since then he has rebounded quite nicely. Wladimir is now the one looking invincible, he hasn't been down since the last time he fought Sam Peter and he has just pitched shut outs vs damn near everyone.

How do you see this one going? I think the first fight was exciting and had some drama in it...I think the rematch may have a little more action and a little less drama. I think Wlad's jab has improved greatly and since he hooks off the jab more often now he'll set up lots of big right crosses but I think the left hook is what finishes Sam Peter off around 5-7 and it'll be that early because Sam (being in shape and gunning for a KO himself) will press Wlad and just eat too many punches in return

Peter has shown absolutely nothing recently that makes me think he is any threat to Wlad and I am almost totally devoid of any interest in this fight. The only question for me is how long the fight will last, and that all depends on how cautious Wlad will be.

I'm with ya lyle I think it goes about 8 or 9 though because wlad will still be cautious and jab peter down till he's nice and soft and then finish him thereabouts.

Honestly I'm not that interested in this fight.

As CFH said Peter has shown nothing in recent fights to indicate he has improved enough to beat Wlad.

It was just pathetic when he had no game plan against Vitali and wound up quitting.

Hopefully I'm wrong and Peter somehow KO's the big pu$$y.

Sam Peter doesn't look in shape to me. I saw him in training last week and he is still carrying too much fat. Fair enough he is in better shape than the likes of "Fat" Eddie Chambers and Chris "the Fat Bastard" Arreola, but good shape?? Give me a break.

Wlad will fight cautiously throughout as he will be frightened of Peters power after it floored him 3 times before, but he will eventually wear Peter down and stop him around 10-11 in a fight that will be nominated for the most boring fight of all time.

I've seen Sam's workout pics I figure he'll be around 237 just like for the Nagy Aguilera bout and that's very good shape for him considering the last time he fought Wladimir he weighed in at 243 and at his highest he was 265. I think Sam Peter has worked a bit better in the ring recently he's moved his head a bit more, moved his feet a bit better, but he's still too wide with his punches.

As for Wlad, he's in a different place than where he was 5 years ago...I don't think Wlad will be cautious with Sam and I think Sam will press forward early and often (because the 2 known ways to beat Wlad 1. Catch him and follow up 2. Get him to wear himself down) and in doing so he'll run into Wlad's punches...Chris Byrd tried to pressure Wlad in their rematch, it didn't go too well for him.

I doubt it'll be a slugfest but it'll be an interesting fight

Gotta disagree Lyle, I think Wlad will still be very cautious. Although I have a bit more interest in this fight than I have in recent Wlad ones. Due mainly to the fact he was down 3 times last time they fought. I think Sky will play on that too.

If Wladimir doesn't knock this guy out inside 6 rounds then... I dunno.

I'll think of something.

Shit fight in reality but Peter looks in decent shape.

Where did peter get abs from. I give peter an ok shot....as much as anyone else at least.

I think that's right on the money. Problem is that Wlad is fighting smarter with Manny in the corner. If Wlad continues to use his jab and movement - which is almost certain - then Peter's only hope is really to catch him with a lucky shot. It could happen, but I was really impressed with the way Wlad came back from the KDs in the previous fight. At this stage, I'd go with Wlad via late stoppage or wide UD.

The reason I doubt Wlad will be cautious is because Sam is going to come right at him and Wlad is at his best these days when his opponents are dead set on attacking him. Sure expect 10 Billion jabs, but also expect hooks off the jab and right crosses there will be a TON of punches thrown between these two. I believe Wlad knows that Sam Peter did damage to the back of the head last time and I expect they'll plan for that scenario so I highly doutb we'll see Wlad in trouble or down.

The outcome seems predetermined right now because we expect Wlad to continue his dominance, but hell Sam Peter can punch a bit and he's in shape this time too.

The fact that Peter held a major belt is about as relevant as the fact that Harrison slapped the shit out of Peter in the amateurs. It was a long time ago and it matters very little. Peter is, and always has been shit.

The only appeal Peter used to hold was the fact that he was deemed dangerous as he was undefeated and he was a bit of an unknown quantity. Fast forward a few years and he's no longer unbeaten and everyone now knows he's shit.

Well although it will probably ring hollow for the majority of you in a recent interview Wladimir said "This time I will try to win as quickly as possible. I will dominate" ....would be very nice if he does

What makes you think Wlad's fights are any more boring than any other dominant performance? His jab is basically a power punch that takes guys heads off. I don't see how people don't find it fascinating to watch the physical freak in action. He's fast, coordinated, and powerful.

nah David Haye already won that title in his fight against Valuev, at least we'll have a clear winner when Wlad KO's Peter

In the last press conference Wlad said "Each round, I will try to knock him out"....this is stronger talk from Wlad, but as a fan I am enthusiastic about the possibility of Wlad being more aggressive, I also worry about him gassing out again, and I also wonder if he's promising something he won't deliver on....sometimes in the past he has said he'll go for the KO but it never falls in to place.

I would be mighty pleased if Wlad was able to drop Sam Peter and stop him within 4 rounds, that would be outstanding....Chicken Little would shit himself if he saw that, and I'm sure Povetkin would get on his knees and kiss Teddy Atlas' ass for saving him from that beat down.

Perhaps Wlad will finally throw a bit more leather this time

I'm gonna be brutally honest here. I respect Wlad more now than I used to (when he exhibited the glass chin syndrome). But a part of me would still like to see Wlad involved in a memorable, give-and-take war. Something that will cement his status as one of the great HW's of our generation. I realize the lack of credible opposition out there is not his or Vitali's fault. But I can't help yearning for the Tyson-Holyfield wars, the Lennox years, even the Ali-Frazier-Foreman golden years of HW boxing. The vision of Wlad sickeningly pawing at Sultan Ibragimov (did I get his name right?) so as to not get tagged, throughout the whole, incredibly boring affair, is still fairly fresh in my mind. So is the Ray Austin fiasco. For that matter, so is every piece of HW trash that has marched up into the ring against a Klitschko, only to wilt like a flower in the middle of the Sahara Desert. Is there no one out there that is up to the task? I'm not rooting for Wlad to lose, only to earn his place among the greats.

I think Wlad has looked a lot more comfortable in the ring (oddly enough it started that way in 2005 in the last round when he hurt Sam Peter) he looked at ease and he's looked better and better since then (bar the Ibragimov and Rahman matches...those are the only ones I fault him on). VS Ray Austin he did his job quick, vs Ruslan Chagaev he kept throwing punches and he didn't wait to set anything up (plus that was a short notice fight for both guys).

VS Sam Peter there are no excuses, Wlad knows who he is, knows what he does best, and should attack from the get go and look to find a home not for the jab but for the LEFT HOOK. I think Wlad will put Sam down several times and early too...I have a feeling after the Chambers fight Manny is wanting Wlad to step up his bad intentions a bit more.
