Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
Ricky Hatton interview from rehab on drugs and depression | News Of The World
Why the hell is he talking to the paper that ratted him out?
My interview would have been to tell the news of the world to get fucked, that I wouldn't use their shitty smut comic to wrap my chips and invite anyone who felt they had the right to sit in judgement of me and pontificate on how I should live my life to suck my dick.
But instead Ricky goes for the same 'I'm a wretched failure please still love me (or rather endorse me and keep the cash flowing in) pathetic self abuse that Tiger Woods went in for a few months back.
You didn't lose my respect when you took cocaine, but you have lost it now, you fat twat.

Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
No, he shouldn't be talking to them. In fact, I don't think he should be talking to any of the media right now. He should be keeping his head down and working out whatever it is he needs to work out.
You can't help but feel that the unpleasant aroma of Max Clifford is lingering all over this. Tiger Woods looks like a prick for good reason, but you don't need to go cap in hand to the media begging for forgiveness. It just isn't neccessary.
I still like Hatton and of course wish him well, but can understand where you are coming from on this.

What annoys me is the complete fakeness of it all on both sides. The News of the World just want some cheap and easy sensationalism to sell their crappy papers so pay people to rat out celebs for doing things that millions of ordinary people do.
They then become the moral voice of the nation and exhibit puritanical shock and disgust, as if the nation actually cares about morality and ethics.
The person who sells the celeb out is always a 'friend' doing it for their own good and only happened by chance to have hidden cameras already in place to record the behaviours that will soon occur and leave them feeling they must do something about them.
Then the celebrity who depends on a clean cut image to make money, sponsorship, endorsments etc will go completely over the top, checking themselves into rehab, publicly apologising for everything and chastisting themselves so as to to limit the damages to their reputation and allows their sponsors to renegotiate new contracts once their penance has been served.
Then the sponsors will drop them citing their transgression makes them no longer suitable role models, only to clamour to re-sign them once the allotted timeframe of a few months has expired and they are restored in the eyes of the public.
It's such a charade.
Have you noticed it's mostly sportspeople who apologise as their images seem to be more negatively affected by bad press?
How often do rock stars, or comedians apologise for taking drugs, or cheating on their spouse? Or film stars for that matter?
Those celebrities whose persona's are not damaged, or are even enhanced by such scandals NEVER apologise and in fact are just defiant. The only ones who ever do are those who are perceived as 'role model's' and thus are forced to humble themselves to remain marketable.
Fuck all of them, Hatton has completely sold out with his fake apology.
Did you watch the interview? He claims he couldn't remember taking cocaine as he blacks out conveniently just before. What a pathetic, cowardly fat prick.

Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
No, not watched it yet. Currently in the process of cooking up a madras from scratch!
Will give my proper thoughts a bit later on.

How else do you cook something if it isnt from scratch ?

"ashamed about tarnishing my career" "don't have a drug habbit"
Reading between his patter, the only thing he regrets is getting caught

From a jar with a bit of chicken thrown in? I don't really regard that as cooking. I spent 90 minutes making it and it tastes great. Will get a good 4 meals out of that! :D

Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
I've just watched it now and I have to say that there was nothing there that surprised me. He does seem to be making a few excuses for himself, but a lot of what he says seems plausible. Of course the loss to Pac destroyed his confidence and he has obviously taken it on himself in a very hard way. Then of course maybe a few other personal demons thrown on top. Some resort to the bottle and Hatton did just that. And in this instance the bottle was beginning to takeover. He does seem to be trying to say that the drugs only came because of heavy drinking and again this can be quite true. I would argue that you are more likely to do things you shouldn't after imbibing a certain quantity of alcohol. Hatton likely does blackout and is probably more inclined to use after a few beers, only he can know the truth to that really.
All in all Hatton gives a fair account of himself, but like a said before, I don't know why he is telling the NOTW all this. It must be his agent/team trying to put the redemption spin on it. Like Bilbo says, sportsman often have to play out the apology/redemption role whereas others like Noel Gallagher, for instance, are able to wear their drug abuse merrily on their sleeves. I think in the case of someone like Hatton it is different though as Noel has never tried to be a role model or present a somewhat wholesome image like Hatton has in the past. And let's be honest, liking a pie and a beer is relatively wholesome by British standards.
Like I've said before, I just want to see Hatton ease down on the abuse of food and booze and just get on with his life. At least he seems to be coming to terms with the fact that his career is over. He hasn't embarrassed himself and should move on. He isn't the first or last to get stopped early in a big fight. These things happen.
-
Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
And beef not chicken. Jolly tasty, might have some more. :-X
-
Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
Shit interview really, if he is not going to tell the truth like he says he is at the start of the interview why fucking bother?
He says he only started to dabble after the Pac fight BOLLOCKS!! He doesn't even think he has a booze problem ffs.
He doesn't even know how many times he has taken cocaine well that's cos he has taken it for years, all just one big publicity stunt this, shame Hatton has been advised to do this then tell lies in front of the camera.

Jar is a no no for sure.

Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
He says booze isn't a problem, but he admits it makes him black out and do stuff like cocaine. Serious case of denial.
People who have done cocaine "sparingly" don't cut it as profieciently as he did, and they sure as hell don't do 3 lines in one go.
Like the original poster said, I never lost any respect for him when I heard he got popped for coke. But this sorry display makes me lose a lot of respect for him.
-
Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
This guy needs alot of help. Without full acceptance, he really is in a heap of trouble, and right now for his sanity, a big brother in the midst is welcomed more than just a breath of fresh air.
What is sad though is that, with all the monies he had earned from previous spoils, the wrong kind of truth got an exclusive invite to his ears. The wrong kind of stuff if one is interested in staying in the right path, but what has now dominated his thoughts in this period of bitter reality. Power potion for depression if allowed at length.
Laying off the guy with harshness will probably be more constructive at this juncture... from all points with concern, despite the understanding that nowadays, they do come pricey.
Edwin and Arturo do so now rests, but surely they'd say aye!
-
Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
it was sadder watching that interview than watching him take coke.
ok so its dammage limitation, but at least he's not in the pub so its a step in the right direction whatever his motives.... still a sad sight.
-
Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
It's nothing more than a poor attempt at damage control. I agree that it is ridiculous, but it is a common occurrence these days.
-
Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
Same crap 90% of the "stars" are doing once caught, nothing new under the sun, come on, circulate, there is nothing to see there.

hatton has come out of this with a hell of a lot of respect, even more so than before this was outed to the press
the fact he has manned this out and taken it on the chin shows what a class act hatton is and always has been

Oh come on you can't be serious? It's been a farce. In a bid to save his reputation and marketability he hired Max Clifford, then got his parents to cry on national television for him.
Then he checks into rehab like a big fucking drama queen quoting his depression that has led him astray. To top it all off he says he can't even remember taking cocaine because he would black out just before because he was drunk.
What a phony.
I would have respected him so much more if he would have just been honest and said 'yeah I take a bit of coke, what of it'?
I fucking hate the Hattons, the whole family annoys me.
-
Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
What really annoys me is the dam dealer or dealers who have sold him that chang, they have just served him up a whole load of trouble, the gear must be total crap to be snorting it like he did, three fat lines on the spin tells me he has been at it for quite a while and his so called friends have not stopped him, they must of known how down he was after Floyd and Manny beat him up, the only saving grace is that he hadnt progressed to the rocks and smack to blot out the pain, get yourself clean Ricky and concentrate on the promoting, you cant be doing a bad job as old FW has been slagging you big time, he must see you as a threat, that must good news as that old fella needs some compitition here in the Uk.

the guy is very badly depressed, for anyone who has ever been in that boat you will know you arent of sound mind and you will do anything to relieve the personal pain. Rickys been down every since the manny fight but has just needed the push to get some help for it.
Nothing wrong with asking for help, ricky did just that and is now owning up to the fact that what he did was wrong

But still won't admit he has a drinking problem, he is not an alcoholic accodring to him because he doesn't drink shorts just the average ten pints a night :-\, he is in denial. He has been bang on the sniff for years known FACT round here, he has been on the beer everyday since the Pac fight I have been told this by one of his closest mates, but he still won't admit it?
Like Bilbo says this whole thing is one big publicity stunt to keep Brand Hatton keeping the boy next image as intact as possible, at first I really felt for Ricky, but after this stupid Interview with his same old shitty cliches and his denial he has any problems other than depression is a farce, the whole episode has been set up by king of the cock heads Max Clifford, Ricky if you are going to come on camera and the first thing you say Is I am here to tell the truth don't then try treat everyone like fucking fools.

massive difference between a heavy drinker and an actual alcoholic
if you feel the need to down 10pints every evening because it quells your thirst and boredom then you are a heavy drinker ala myself and hatton. If however you wake up in the morning and need a 2litre bottle of cider to get you through the day your an alcoholic

Ok ok The women who set him up have a little look at what he drank that night he was out with here something along the lines of 12 pints 8 sambukas another 10 shorts and 7 lines of the marching powder, mate your head is so far up his arse ( no offence ;D ) you wouldn't say he had a problem if he was having vodka on his cornflakes for brekky, if he carries on the way he is he will end up like GAZZA FACT.

Tried to keep out of this best i could, but after watching the charade on breakfast TV this morning, then im totally ashamed for him
Im on the Bilbo - Skel bandwagon here. It really pissed me off when he claims he only started doin it after the Manny fight, i shouted at the TV F'in Liar !!
It does sadden me to see where he has gone after the defeat, but unfortunately this has been on the cards for a long while, and it was only a matter of time till something like this came out.

Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
Hammer you are right he is not an alchy this moment in time, he doesn't physically need the stuff to function, but he has a problem, he even said in the inteview he has been crossing the line many times recently where he gets in such a state he can't remember what he has been upto the night before.
My point is it will only get worst especailly for a guy with a massive void to fill he needs to nip this in the bud now all his family is worried look at his dads interview they all know he is on a very slippery slope but he still doesn't think he has a drinking problem? Baffles me. :-\
-
Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
Yeah, Hatton does appear to be in denial somewhat. Drinking 10 beers every day, or even even every other day, surely makes you an alcoholic. Being an alcoholic isn't only about needing the shot at 7am when you wake up, but it is when it is a prevalent and abused part of your everyday life. It appears to have got to that stage with Hatton, so why not just come out and tell it for what it is. I sympathise with Hatton to a degree, but Skel makes some good points. Hatton still seems to be trying to shimmy and shake his way out of it with excuses and denial. Probably not the best way to go about dealing with problems and reminiscent of the excuses after the two losses.

completely agree, hence why i think him coming out and taking these interviews if for anything should be commended. He could quite easily of floated under the radar and by next week of been back doing what he had been doing.
hatton has and still doesnt strike me as an alcoholic of any kind, he enjoys a drink...so does 50 million other odd brits. Yes he is a heavy drinker but the worst crime for that is gluttony
you know an alcoholic when you see one, ive come across tons in my time and hatton aint one of them

Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
I think hammer is right about Hatton's drinking. He's more greedy pisshead than serious alchy. Luckily for rich fuckers like him they can swan off to the ivy for a month to get healthy.

Re: Rather pitiful interview from Hatton
The most important thing for a celebrity is to maintain celebrity status (as far as career goes)
That's why celebrities call the media to let them know they are out partying and stuff. Furthermore, it's why they do these half ass apologies.

There is no doubt that Bilbo is into shock tactics, but you are raving here.
Hatton is what he is and he has made his own choices. Bilbo the shameful, didn't force him to snort coke and drink himself blind. Hatton thought it was a good idea and got found out. Oops!
It's his own fault, you can't blame a thread starter for that.
