Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
-
Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
I don't see why not.....getting smoked by prescott, and beating all time power punchers paulie and dmity salita, looks like a star in the making if you ask me.
-
Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
maybe khan can be a legend IN HIS OWN MIND! until he fights the other champions at jr. welter and beats them, then goes up to welterweight and wins a title there and defends that title against strong opposition, then maybe, just maybe he can be considered a "legend". until then, the dude seems to like to feast on smaller, older, out of their prime fighters.
-
Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
Its going to take alot of good KOs by Khan to erase the image of him getting sparked by prescott in round 1 of that fight. How many legends can you think of that were sparked in 1 round in brutal fashion while they were in their prime?
-
Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
And Fantana strikes again.

Yes beat Kotelnik the guy who was just robbed by the IBF and WBC Champ at 140.
Yes beat Mallinaggi just coming off the back after the win of his career against Juan Diaz did just a good a job on him as JMM did to him last time yes deffo another gimme.

Didn't that Pugilist Specialist guy from the comments used to post here? He literally seems 13 years old. Us Americans look kinda terrible.
Brilliant resurrection of the 'He was winning on the scorecards' argument he used to use for Tua-Ruiz.

Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
Amir Kah is not even the best in his division let alone on his way to becoming a legend yet,,,,,I can not belioeve those idiots actually have Fantana on their staff...He is funny for Forums and all but to put on your front page?

FWIW - Fantana is back in full training and will be announcing his up and coming opponent in due course
he knows who he wants, i know who he wants, all will be revealed once negotiations have concluded and the battle to end all battles will commence

Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?

Nah probably not. ICB has great abs and even he isn't quite in the top 10 yet.

Funny answer :)
Well at the moment he defo isn't a King of any variant description. But who knows?
-
Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
A legend?
I don't know about that. He still hasn't really beaten anybody who can punch yet, but Maidana is a step in the right direction.
King Khan just sounds silly though. It makes him sound like a character from 'The Jungle Book'.

Well i have to give Amir Khan a chance, i can't show him up.
But on a serious note no Amir Khan can't, he's not even the best in his division IMO. And again im not even sold on him, being able to fight a smart/defensive fight against a fighter who can bang.
I know you say Ono what is the point of him facing a puncher, because Amir Khan will always have a bad chin.
But what it actually proves is that he has improved mentally aswell as physically, i mean Terry Norris suffered a KO loss to Julian Jackson.
But he comeback and improved facing good puncher like John Mugabi, and beat him which proved alot. Amir Khan has to do the same. Beating Malignaggi, Kotelnik, isn't proving alot to me. Sure there decent wins, but i already know Amir Khan has speed and can box.
But what i want to know, is that if he feels the power of a big banger. Will he mentally crumble or can he keep it together and fight a smart fight for 12 rounds.
-
Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
Exactly ICB....can he fight a smart tatical fight against someone who has the power to take him out any time? That for me is proving something. Wins over relatively powderpuff fighters like Kotelnik and Malignaggi are all well and nice, but they are skirting around the weaknesses that we know Khan has. A so called champion should be willing to fight all comers and not stick to only fighting guys with a certain style or have low KO percentages. Like I say, Maidana is a start.
-
Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
He has the skills, tools and corner to become a great boxer, now let's see if he has the mental strength and just enough chin to live past these expectations. It's still too early to say anything about it but the fight against Maidana should be a step into that direction.

Why don't you take your stupid childish insults, and take em to eastside.
-
Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
I don't like him - that's no secret
But a disciplined Khan beats any of his main rivals at moment if you ask me. If he loses focus though and gets reckless someone like Maidana could take him out no question. Just think he has learned his lesson and will be too gun shy - especially now he is going in with a known puncher.
I think Maidana has a better chance of beating him than Bradley just based on the punch power factor.
And I would have thought much more of him if he had taken a Prescott rematch - especially just before the summer when he was looking for a quick opponent before Ramadan. That matchup would have been ideal

I never understand this argument. Surely a fighter who has slightly less power, but who has the ability to land much more frequently has the best chance of knocking him out? I say this, because even somebody as light punching as Limond, almost stopped him.

limond put him down but i think almost stopping him is a bit of a exaggeration
Kahn is a completely different fighter now
-
Re: Is Amir Khan ready to become a legend?
Amir won't be able to outrun Maidana's tomahawks for 12 rounds 6 rounds.

Im calling you a keyboard warrior, because your giving it the big i am. About how i should fight back when your behind a computer screen. I can assure you right now joking aside, and i don't care who takes the piss personally.
That i am in very good shape, im not some hard-nut. Never made out i was, but i keep myself in good shape. And ever since i was little i've always been a workout freak.
Personally i just think your wind-up merchant like HTH. There's no way HTH believes everything he is saying, a person isn't that deluded surely.
But people know what he is, and people like that come and go all the time.

I think he will
roach will have khan on his toes for 12rounds and telling him to fight in short bursts with those fast combinations he can land. I see maidana trying to chase khan down and getting hit at will.
Khan UD win

Perhaps, but I would like to see Khan try. Maybe Khan eludes everything and dances to a decision, but likewise, maybe Maidana spikes him and doesn't allow him to get back in.
If Khan can get knocked out by a bum like Prescott and we still have the improved Khan with Paulie landing straight leads, do we think Maidana won't at least challenge that chin?
I'm intrigued as to how Khan responds because though Khan has improved, I think Maidana is a little bit better than Prescott too.

thats exactly the way I see it - he may even get a late stoppage win as Maidana has to go for it late on and tires

cos i think he's a prick.
The way he thought he was a big deal from day one and the shite he comes out with. Will never forget his 'let's compare bank accounts and see who the bigger superstar is' Tweet when talking about Maidana.
He joins my list of domestic stars I couldn't stand eg Steve Davis (not now though !) , Stephen Hendry, Audley Harrison, early Eubank, Andy Murray etc....
was on the fence with Hamed
Unlike Steve Davis and Eubank though Khan won't come off that list i don't think.
