Most dominating performance with the jab
I have been looking at some fights at "work" and I saw two in which the winners put whippings on their opponents with the jab as their major weapon. This bring the question as to who has put on the most devestating performance with the jab that you have seen? Note that this is just for my info and a little fun, so be cool.

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Ike Quartey vs Jung-Oh Park, dear me was that a painful fight to watch. Ike Quartey hit him over and over again with his piston like left jab. One of the most brutal jabbing exhibitions i've ever seen.
Also Larry Holmes vs Earnie Shavers 1 was a great jabbing exhibition too.

Larry was the best jabber I've seen
But the most dominating was Vitali Klitschko v Herbie Hide - before you question it come on, he knocked Herbie into orbit with one stiff jab. Awesome !

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Felix Sturm vs Oscar de la Hoya...I think Sturm broke Oscars nose with his jab...

If you're going to mention a Wladimir fight featuring the jab then mention the Brewster rematch, the Austin fight was 2 rounds long and just punctuated by a series of left hooks, the jab was hardly the star of his arsenal in that fight.

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Cotto's jab is pretty decent. He knocked down Gomez and Clottey (not dominating though) with it.

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Larry Holmes vs Tex Cobb comes to mind. For 15 rounds he couldn't miss with the jab or the straight right

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Recently I'd say Sirhy Dzinzurik over Dawson. Real nice jab with pop. Why has this guy fell out of the rankings...someone give him a big name fight, he is ready as he ever will be.All time best jab is Easton Assassin.

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Up until Johnson sparked him out Jr. Jones was dominating him with the jab badly. I mean just stiffing him up with the jab constantly.

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Wright-Tito like somebody mentioned, but also W. Klitschko against Brewster, Rahman, Eddie Chambers, as his fight with Eddie Brock progressed that one as well.
Mayweather-Marquez comes to mind. De La Hoya-Mayorga.

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Cotto beat Mosley by using the jab

You sure you have the right fight there master, I think you mean Calzaghe v Evans when he beat him with one hand?
The Bika fight was an awful brawling performance by Calzaghe he hardly used the jab.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Ali vs. Patterson I.

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Buster Douglas vs Tyson was a pretty damn good showing of the jab
-
Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Lewis dominated Tua with 1 hanfd. The jab was in his face all night.
The 2nd time he fought Rahman his jab was powerful and totally shut the champ down.

I was watching that fight the other night and Buster was snapping Mikes head back at will with the jab. I don't remember anyone else doing it to such an extent until Lewis in 2002.
If only Buster had carried on fighting rather than giving up and getting fat:(

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Buster Douglas vs Tyson for sure.

I know it was when Joe injured his hand and jabbed to victory so you could be right.

Re: Most dominating performance with the jab
Roy Jones v Vinny Pazienza, Roy used it effectively for the first time and it was awesome to watch him obliterate Vinny.
