So now that Dirrell pulled out it looks like Andre Ward will possibly be facing Bika. They are not sure yet if it's gonna be a SS bout or not. I say they just scrap the whole Super Six, and have Ward fight Bute, and Froch-Abraham, then let the rest of the guys fight it out when they get healthy.

This tournament has failed. Why are we even bothering with this charade now? Hardly any of the original fighters are left.
Pointless.
Contractual obligations. Plus they probably want to milk it for every penny possible. It would have been much better as a single elimination tournament - the round robin style is just too much of a logistical nightmare. That way if you're injured and can't compete, you're out of the tournament by default.Quote:

As is Andre Ward with either of Froch/Abraham, a match we will see in the next round. And maybe you don't think they belong in the tournament, but Johnson/Green verse Froch/Abraham are going to be fun fights to watch. At the end of the day, the main upsetting part about the tournament is that Kessler is out and we have to wait a few months to see Ward fight Froch or Abraham.
Who would you rather see Ward/Abraham/Froch fight other than Bute?
I hae heard that Bute will move to 175 after Brinkley if he does he is a joke, the guy has fought nobody at 168, and will bow out against fucking Jessie Brinkley :rolleyes:.
This event is a farce now.
Looking forward to seeing Bika's fine ass wife on the telly again. ;D

I've heard quite the opposite from french medias in Montreal, the only person he would fight in a middle time period at 175 is Jean Pascal because that fight in Montreal would just be h-u-g-e but Bute said recently that he won't go to 175 yet because there is a lot of work to do at 168. Pavilk's name is in the air so is Froch and Jean Bedard, the money keeper of Interbox stated that he's in discussion for a major fight in march concerning Bute on HBO and likely at 168 again. My opinion is most of Bute's good opponents at 168 were tied up in the tournament. He has outboxed everyone put in front of him on the b-level otherwise.
Danny Green said he wouldn't go below 185 so that fight isn't happening. Plus he needs to get by BJ Flores first. Pavlik has indicated that wants to remain at 160. Dirrell is out indefinitely as is Kessler. Pascal is fighting Bhop and then Dawson.
He needs an A-opponent badly. Problem is - who?

No I didn't miss that but there has been new information that got yesterday and two days ago; Calzaghe is an option IF he returns but Pascal won't be before a long long time: Hopkins and a revenge clause with Dawson are first, so you can't forget that fight for at least a year now. Beside Bute, they effectively talked Danny Green but this has been dismissed recently as Green won't move down (apparently) and the other options mentioned are Pavlik (if he wins his next match as HBO are high on that one apparently) and either winner or loser of the Froch-Abraham fight depending of how the fight goes and of the interest afterward. Ward by easy decison.
Bika has been beat every time he stepped up in class - Calzaghe, Bute etc. I have to think that this will happen once again with Ward as well. On the other hand, Bika is a strong, dirty fighter. He'll force the issue with Ward. I just think Ward will probably box circles around him.Quote:

Also, you can bet on it that it is a very viable option because Froch did beat Jean Pascal and there is a huge rivalry Bute-Pascal in Montreal, seeing how Bute would do against Froch would definitely boost the interest for the fight. Before Dirrell was out, I thought that Johnson advanced to the next round with any sort of win and Green was out unless he knocked Johnson out, otherwise if Green won without a knockout, Dirrell made it through. Since Dirrell isn't in and the Ward/Bika fight is not part of the tournament, aren't Ward, Froch and Abraham in to the next round as is the winner of the Johnson/Green fight. Which means that the only available option for Bute is Pavlik assuming Calzaghe doesn't come out of retirement.Quote:

Froch is in regardless because Dirrell is out. Right now Ward, Abraham, and Froch make it to the semi's. Ward v. Bika isn't a sanctioned super six match. Johnson and Green are fighting for the last spot. Think about it what you are saying is that Green and Johnson are in regardless of who wins over Froch, that wouldn't make sense. Green has no points right now and either does Johnson. The loser of their match will still have no points. Froch has two even if he loses.Quote:

And my money is that Pavlik stays at 160 and fights Sergio in a rematch if he wins because that is a fight that HBO would buy and an easier fight than Bute. So, who does Bute fight next? It's a tough call.
