I love music (except the X-factor kind obviously) so thought I would start a new music thread. Basically you name a band/artist and another poster must list their favourite albums by that artist (let's say a top 3-5 albums). The person who responds must then name a new band or artist. You can name a same artist again if you like as a different person will likley have different opinions.
I will start with The Rolling Stones....who has an opinion?

Having done a quick google search, I see that Fleetwood Mac released Fleetwood Mac, Tusk and Mirage which all went to number 1. I am going to nominate these as their best albums as the thread has stalled a bit with that nomination.
Now how about The Smiths?

I like The Smiths a lot and have all their albums. The Queen is dead is a great album and all their albums have their share of standout moments. I also like a lot of Morrissey's solo stuff too. I think he is an interesting person and some of his lyrics are very good. But yeah, it is very 'woe is me'. A lot of it is tongue in cheek though.
Fellas Fellas - Go and listent to the album 'Rumours' by Fleetwood Mac and tell me it aint a great album. You need to also know the story behind the album (basically there were 2 couples in the band, both going through messy break ups and righting songs about each other that the other had to sing) More to it than that, but that's the basic jist.
They only has one other good album in my opinion 'Tango in the night' I am not a huge fan but Rumours is without doubt an all time classic album. You won't find many credible all time album lists that this does not appear top 10 or at very least top 20.

If i'm getting the thread.... I name a band, and someone else says their 3 greatest albums,, but that was taken down to their 1 greatest album..
So to get this thread back on track after the Fleetwould Mac debacle mostly killed it off (mostly),,,,

Trouble is though Miles there's very few bands that make it past 3 albums, let alone bands who have produced enough albums for us to pick 3 of their best. I think the thread will run further if we're just picking the best of any particular artist.Quote:

I like Mick's list especiallly, very diverse. It's cool to see somebody who can list The Beatles in the same list as Tupac. I'd never consider downloading a Tupac album as it's personally not somethiing I'd be into, but now I might. If Mick can appreciate the merits of The Clash and Radiohead I'm sure I could do the same for Biggie Smalls....
On a personal level my favourite albums are, in no particular order:

I'm very diveresed when it comes to music.
One morning I can wake up listening to some Country music like Patsy Cline by mid afternoon I'm listening to Oldies like Earth Wind & Fire then late afternoon I'm on Alternative like The Strokes and by night time I'm playing Hip Hop or Rap like Eminem.
Smashup introduced me to Kasabian a few years back.
I actually like them along with The Strokes, The Killers, Kings of Leon and Muse are some of my fav. bands.
Artic Monkeys not really into.
