I go with Groves to stop DeGale inside 7 rounds
Someone need to merge this, Tysonbruno got so excited he has started the thread twice.
oh ok, missed that, and i voted for degale when i think Groves will win. :)
I don't like DeGale i did at first but now he is laughable his stoppage wins over Horton who was ko'd in 2 by Renda and Dilks were rubbish especially the Dilks one hitting him on glove and elbow and ref stops it lol
I wouldn't say very good he has skills but he should have blown Sam Horton away if he beats Smith he will get praise from me hopefully it goes late or full 12 to see what he really has
I think he definatley has skills (talking about Degale) he is very slick and a genuine talent.
He definatley needs a few battles though to toughen him up.
I'd pick Degale in this one
I would want Groves to win , as i dislike DeGale he is a prick , he doesnt even deliver his punches correctly .
I want so much for Groves to win, I just think De Gale will be too good for him!
British boxing is very bright around these weights though. Both vs Clev would be great fights too IMO!
I think Groves would win.
This was an old poll I just found, and as I've just been watching Groves v Anderson and DeGale v Smith on Fights of 2010, but at the moment, I've had to vote for Degale.
Groves looked very vulnerable there, whilst Degale looks as though he's matured into the pro ranks better, and when faced with a guy who was tough, durable and came forward, showed up much better.
The fight could be on Warren has made an offer for his march show and Groves say he is going to sign and fax it back, wont hold my breathe but hopefully its on.
I hope so skel. I still think they'll leave it until later in both their careers, though.
Would have to fancy DeGale based on the past years progress of both, but with them having had so few pro fights who knows. I prefer Groves' personality, read his columns and he's a funny down to earth guy so I suppose based on that I'd want him to win. Much more humble than DeGale.
I actually think this fight should now be out of till the end of the year Groves v Anderson two or even Groves v Smith first for me.
When I saw Groves against Adamu, I was so sure hed smoke Degale. After the Smith and Anderson fights, I changed my mind. I've voted Degale because he looks to have matured quicker. I've seen both of them fight live and I think it's just too soon to do it. They should wait because both can be be stars and could make alot of money for this fight later on.
Agreed exactly what I thought BZKFN and think just wait but it would make a good domestic fight and it would favour Degale and his team to have it now.
I still want them to get it on soon, I know it'd be extremely damaging to the losers career, but I have confidence in both to achieve a lot too, so a second match up when they're higher up in the future to make them huge money would be appealing too.
Frank Warren definitely fancies it, not too sure about Booth now.
DeGale will destroy him.
Even Anderson nearly stopped him ffs.
Anderson was undefeated and a good enough fighter, no shame in Groves having problems but it is if he intends to be a world champion.
Not necessarily. The BBBofC pushed for Jon Thaxton (then British Champ) to fight Amir Khan (then Commonwealth Champ) ad Warren didn't want it and avoided it like the plague. It never happened despite fans cries for it to do so. Even if they are each others mandatories, it doesn't mean the fight will happen. This is boxing, and if one doesn't want it, the fight won't happen.
When the thread was first started in October, it was fairly even between Degale and Groves, but all the recent votes have gone to Degale after he battered Smith, so I think he's really going to be a big favourite if they do get it on, and I can absolutely see why Booth maybe isn't so keen on the bout!
Before the Smith-Degale fight Booth said Groves would be the winner's mandatory for the British title. If that's the case then its a pretty logical fight to have next, as you say the commonwealth is the next step for Degale and he'd get his mandatory for the British out the way too.
I'd fancy Degale to batter him atm, the Smith fight made me believe that he can go a long way while the Anderson fight exposed a lot of flaws in Groves that Degale would have no problem exploiting.
Either way it would be good to have the fight now. Benn and Watson fought for a domestic or commonwealth title and it did neither of them any harm in the long run.
