Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?
Probably bollocks but interesting if true.
Harrison, who is to fight WBA heavyweight champion David Haye on November 13, claimed that his opponent was floored in training by his 38-year-old sparring partner.
"I heard David Haye's brought in Tony Thompson and they're making a big thing of it," Harrison told Sky Sports. "I want Haye to tell me and the rest of the world what Tony Thompson did to him a couple of weeks ago, because I hear Tony Thompson knocked him down in training. "
Thompson, a 38-year-old southpaw, was drafted in by Haye to prepare for the fight with Harrison, another left-hander, because Haye has little experience fighting southpaws.
Thompson has a good competitive record, having lost only twice in 36 games - but Harrison picked up on what he saw as a sign of his opponent's weakness: "Tony Thompson is not a puncher, David Haye - I am. If Tony Thompson's putting you down, what the hell am I going to do to you? It's so beautiful. He brought in this guy trying to get publicity for him, but he's knocked him down already."
"I'm not a guy that's going in there with a puncher's chance, I'm going in there believing I can win and I'm going to put everything on the line," Harrison said.
"That'll be too much for David Haye. He is vulnerable. All that work I've seen him doing in the gym - doing push-ups - you ain't going to put no muscles on your chin. I'm going to hit you on your chin, and then let's see what happens.
"I'm going to close David Haye down and he's going to be in the fight of his life. Every second, every minute, every round, I'm going to be in his face. He's going to have to break my spirit, break my heart, and he can't do that."
Despite Harrison's fighting talk, Haye remains the bookmakers' odds-on favourite to win the fight.

Re: Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?
Even if it is true, Thompson fights nothing like Harrison, he's a horrible choice of sparring partner regardless. However, Thompson is a very smart fighter and could easily catch Haye off balance, it's what he does best. If this is true Tony could have two big claims to fame:
1. He's landed the most punches against Wlad of any fighter.
2. He knocked down Haye in sparring.
That's if it's true.
I don't expect any confirmation to come out for this, and either way it doesn't really effect my opinion of the outcome of this fight in the slightest. Running with bears is the decided difference here.

I really think Harrison is gonna go right hand happy in this fight ala Reid - Calzaghe.

That left uppercut will tear hayes head off!!
I got 100 to 1 special double from Ladbrokes on Harrison beating Haye then winning sports personality. They limited me to £100 bet though.
Nice £10,000 coming my way for Christmas:cool:
Oh, they also give 150 to 1 on Harrison winning in the first 60 seconds!! Thats worth a quid at least!

Dunno.....Williams I reckon is a bigger puncher than Haye and Harrison started quite strong in the rematch. Id also go as far as say that Williams has a better chin than Haye too! At least he fought a Klitschko!

LMAO jesus mate you really Hate Haye dont you. :-\
The two week notice fat Danny Williams that fought Audley would of been smoked in a round by Haye, Haye would also destroy any version of Williams, Williams in truth got a good deal with his Tyson win in reality he was average domestic fighter and all top european fringe world class fighters would of smashed him when he was in his prime.

No way would Haye get Williams any quicker (if he didnt get sparked himself). Fuuck me! Haye couldnt put away Barrett as quick as Solis and Couser!!!;D and got knocked down for his troubles;D;D
Haye will now be shiiting himself at what a cuunt hes about to look!

Re: Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?
Even in beating Williams Audley still fought like a bitch, clinging on for dear life whenever Williams got within two feet.
He makes me sick with the bile he spits out, every minute of every round, who the fuck is he kidding?
david Hate, in the words of Apollo Creed give everybody a present and drop this chump, lay the boot in when he's on the way down too.
Cunt!
;D

Re: Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?
Never thought I'd say this but November 13th can't come soon enough.

Re: Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?
over the years audley has said alot of things, most of them rubbish....but on this occation it can go either way

Re: Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?
Ladbrokes are currently 100/1 about Harrison winning Sports Personality, you didn't need the double Ross
I'll give you 1000/1 (£10 limit ;D)

-
Re: Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?

Re: Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?
I do find it funny how Harrison is drawing lots of attention to Hayes chin , this from a guy who got 1 punch KOED by moderate punching Sprott. LMAO ;D

But on the other hand Haye has gone over a few times to lighter men than Audley and shots to the top of the head at that and according to Audley he was knocked out against sprott and dropped once by williams and once in amatuers so his chin cant be that bad and that punch Sprott landed was one flush shot with Audley coming in as well.

Re: Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?
If its true all I can think about is when Haye confronted Wlad and all he could do was bash tony Thompson saying he was a bum and "what has tony thompson ever done" if he was floored in sparring it makes those comments all the more hilarious if anyone can post up the video.
-
Re: Harrison says Thompson knocked Haye down in sparring?
Tony Thompson has come out saying Haye looks superb in sparring (surprised how good he is) and Audley has no chance. No mention of him flooring Haye plus Haye himself said it was bollocks.
Audley's camp also said he sparked THREE sparrring partners in the same day.
Think they're having fun.

lol
i thought the very same thing when i first heard about this. If haye was indeed knocked down in training it would have absolutely no implication as to his level of performance in this fight and if anything could well show that haye is really going hard in training
People love to draw conclusions on these things and refer to past instances like tyson being dropped for the first time in his life just before the douglas fight. But it will have little or no effect on either fighter come the big night

It depends how hard he was hit, I know at least in amature if you take a big enough shot, you arent allowed to box for a certain period. Cant remember how long.
Thompson is being paid by Haye remember so he will say that Haye is looking good but also notice he didnt deny knocking him down;)
I heard the rumour about Harrison was that he dropped 4 different sparring partners at Spencer Fearons gym.

From what I read he wasn't asked about knocking Haye down so had nothing to deny. Wouldn't surprise me though as there's normally a smidgen of truth to most sparring tales.
So Harrison either SPARKED three sparring partners or DECKED four. Impressive. ;D

We are both wrong! He neither sparked 3 nor decked 4.
"Big fights always generate rumours and, according to Spencer Fearon, the former London light-middleweight making his way as a promoter, Harrison "sparked" four sparring partners at his Real Fight Club gym in Liverpool Street on Thursday night."
