Do you have a coach or anyone who can show you?
If not, recognize that anything someone can quickly write here will likely be inferior to the good books and videos that are out there already...
Try MyBoxingCoach.com for a video -- the owner (Fran) visits here and will usually answer question in addition.
Read the Dempsey book, and others you will find in the "Important Post" sub-forum.
That said: Get your feet and stance right. Weight slightly rearward and throw the back hand while maintaining that good stance/balance by turning your hips/waist/shoulders and sending the arm STRAIGHT out to the target, using the turn of the rear foot (from tow out to heal in line straight at the target) to delivery power all the way from the back foot through that chain of your body to the hand.
As to the "haymaker" it is so easy to block that teaching you to "do that" would likely not be in your best interest. It has one advantage, if you do manage to land it then it has a lot of momentum/power, but there are other (and better) ways to get that advantage without (most of) the disadvantages.

but i would still like to learn the haymaker because of its massive power
The Bolo Punch is the most vicious punching style technic imo.
you want to learn this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Saqhy...eature=related ?
ya i got one for you. tie a rope that is about eye level from one end of a wall to the next. In your stance go straight down the rope bobbing and weaving from each side of the rope. it might sound dumb but it works great.
Pay careful attention to exactly what Gramm wrote, "go STRAIGHT down". When squatting to duck avoid dropping your head and shoulders forward or even bending forward at the waist -- go down with a straight AND VERTICAL back when practicing.
There will be times when you lean or whatever but most of your squats should keep your shoulders directly over your hips.
Most people can do this easily for a few inches or more, but as the squat deepens then lean further and further forward -- sit down in the butt and say vertical.
RELAX to go down (you cannot pull yourself the floor) and Power Up.
Throughout all of this you must maintain foot placement and good balance.

I need help throwing the hook punch does anyone know a good video i can look at about how to throw the hook punch
do you have a trainer? are u boxing or mma or neither?
Hey Kimbo
This guy with a funny accent explains how you might throw 3 types of hook:
Short range left hook
Mid Range Left Hook
Long Range Left Hook
Another contributor to this site has worked out 11 ways of throwing the hook (HerbM), but I'm not sure that Herb's accent is quite as peculiar as this guy's (although he is a Texan....)
Hope it helps mate

Lots of great information can be found in the following thread:
http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...dowboxing.html
This video also has some good advice and tips on shadow boxing:

... my only advice is to make sure you spend a lot of time focusing on shadow boxing. It's a great tool and will greatly help your overall skill. Have a look around the forum there's tons of great information on shadow boxing and the benefits of doing it.

:confused::confused::confused:
Hi Kimbo
I think it would be eaisier to give some reccomendations if you were more specific.
What do you want to achieve by doing the workout? a boxer's fitness level? more confidence? knowledge of how to throw punches correctly? lists of combos? weight loss?
Cheers
Lol, thats pretty funny .
But if you are serious the whole point of a haymaker is that there is no technique just swing your arm as hard as possible and hope for the best. Unless the guy you are boxing knows less about boxing than you though its probbably not the best way to go. In fact even if the guy knows less than you I still wouldnt go that route. Its the equivalent of asking a soccer player how to do a 'toe bunger'
try kneeling infrot of your partner(he is also kneeling) then starting off light practice slipping and avoiding his punches - the kneeling takes footwork eliment away forcing you to focus more on headmovement - hope it helps
what makes snapping your wrist while punching make you punch harder
To put it blunt drop your ass.
Not 100% sure that it does, although that is what many believe. Maybe I even believe it, but haven't seen the actual proof so far.
If it offers any power help the it is because it makes your arm a VERY slight bit longer, it adds the rotation as another force, and/or it gives you a better mechanical position of the shoulder.
We do know that it helps get the shoulder up so your chin is better protected.
Yes, he does post some odd questions.
Best bet is to go view some Muay Thai videos (on YouTube or Google Video) searching for something like:
muay thai kick round | round-house
i would like too know how to knock someone out like where should i hit them and how do i train for knockout power
Use a bat.
Aim for the head, big swing. No need to train.
That should do the job! ;)
