Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Anyone else really looking forward to this one tonight?? First time in a while i'm looking forward to the Prizefighter, thought they had gone to shit a bit to be honest, but tonight should be a great contest IMO. Sykes, Tseenpurev and McArthur good domestic fighters, and even Buckland and Bell can scrap. Should be some right good scraps IMO. Just been down to the bookies and stuck a fiver on Choi to win. Who knows, he's tough and can bang although he's gettin on.... Sykes is the fav naturally, prob the most talented, but he still only really gets to the finish line on workrate and desire.
Come on Choi..........

Me too. Had £30 on Sykes at 2/1.

I'm seriously not rich enough to put on 30 quid. Ha..... I actually do like Sykes to win outright, I just want Choi to win. Plus, Sykes has never had his chin properly tested yet, and if he gets the chance, Choi will test it for sure.

Without doubt. If Choi was a bit younger I'd fancy him but at 39 (i think that what he is) and at superfeather I think Sykes just may be too much for him. Can they meet in the final??
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Yeah, they can meet in the final man. I'd say from this that Choi beats Murphy and McArthur beats Matthews. Sykes batters Lawton, Bell and Buckland I don't know. I would prob say logic Sykes and McArthur in the final but who knows.....
Quarter-Final 1 – Choi Tseveenpurev v Ben Murphy
Quarter-Final 2 – Gary McArthur v Derry Mathews
-------------------------------------------------------------
Quarter Final 3 – Gary Sykes v Scott Lawton
Quarter-Final 4 – Steve Bell v Gary Buckland

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Didn't know a great deal about Gary McArthur, but after looking, he's never fought at Super Featherweight before, with lightweight being his lightest and mostly at Light Welter, and at 28, would you think that might be a tough little task just making the weight??

Yeah thats my thoughts too, if he does make weight comfortably he may be a threat with his natural size though.
I really see a Sykes vs Choi final!

Right on. If McArthur makes weight and fights good on it then he'll prob not be bothered by Choi's punches at all, thats my thing. We'll see......

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
I'm really rooting for Choi as well tonight. After he pummelled Derry Matthews so effectively a few years, nobody has wanted to fight him and he's just found himself out in the cold.
Hope that he's still got it, and can batter his way through Prizefighter so he can make the same sort of progress as Fraudley did, except with more talent.
-
Don't rule our Macurther, he's a good little fighter.
Sykes should clean up with ease though.
However if Choi can get two KO's, he'll be nice and fresh for the final

Skel will be your man if you need one PM him. I'm off out so I'm having to record it and watch it later. hopefully Sykes will win and then i'll put my winnings on Machida in the UFC. Already got a bit on Williams tonight too.

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
I think McArthur might be worth a couple of quid around 6/1. He was doing well in Prizefighter before until a terrible cut stopped him. TheMacMagician could be right about the weight, but if he's OK with it he has the size to go well.
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
I don't think current champions should be allowed to fight in prizefighter. I think it should only be for fighters looking to revive their career. Sykes is a quality boxer, but i don't think prizefighter is suited for his style. This could be a big big mistake by sykes entering prizefighter.

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Just shows what a shit job Maloney is doing with Sykes he has to risk it all for this sort of money. I would of thought a British Title fight would pay 32k or there abouts
I think Choi might be a bit long in the tooth especially in a format like this, but my money is on Sykes he is a slow starter but when he doies get ging he is hard to stop ask Crolla and Morris.
Quite surprised that Johannasen is not in this?? Thatwould of made it a mean line up.
Links Just pm I have links.

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Stuck £20 on Choi at 5/2 and got a free 10 bet so stuck it on a Sykes/Paul Williams double.
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
What a great opening to a Prizefighter. Murphy and Choi both throwing big punches, Choi not really defensive, but both throwing bombs. Choi edged that one for me. Exciting start.

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Choi has now left the big bright lights of Oldham for London whatis he thinking :p

No wonder after he won his way to the scrapheap after the Matthews fight. Couldn't make progress for love nor money.
Choi's taken over now, much more work, but Murphy still dangerous.

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Worried how much that fight will have taken out of him for the rest of the tournament.
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Choi looked a bit vulnerable in that third round, but he made it through. Hope he recovers well. Nice knockdown by Derry Matthews in this one, McArthur looking far too open. McArthur going to need a big turnaround here.

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Matthews v Choi rematch, , Matthews must of had nightmares for months after that one, wonder how he reacts be interesting to see.
Matthews was on a roll remember he has a good win over current Euro Champ Foster jnr.

Makes for an exciting addition to the tournament no doubt but your absolutely right on Sykes, he should be way better than taking on the prizefighter by this stage. Maloney hey................

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Think I called the weight of McArthur there tonight. He didn't have any strength at all.....
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
What the fuck was McArthur doing in that fight? What a tool. ;D
Choi vs Matthews gonna be very interesting.

You would think that Matthews is well placed, so much time on, to take Choi, but we'll see...... McArthur ddn't land anything of significance, i bet Choi will. Derry has an interesting chin for sure.

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
I'm assuming Sykes keeps his belt whatever happens?
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
I would take Crolla in a rematch with Sykes, he has improved alot under Gallagher.
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Not keen on Sykes me......... Couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag...... Just volume and endurance........
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Really can't see anyone beating Sykes, even Choi.
Whoever put money on him should be counting their winnings already...

I wouldn't be so sure mate, I think Sykes' chin still has some questions to answer.
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Sykes v Buckland could be a great fight.
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
Sykes vs Buckland is gonna be a barnstormer.......

Counting chickens and hatching and all that.
I reckon Buckland, Choi and Matthews can test Sykes chin.

Great fight, Matthews threw the higher quality of punches, Choi just waded in looking for the knockout shot. Matthews is definitely going to be there for the taking in the final, that'll have taken a lot out of him

Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....
I do think we need to see that figh again over 10/12 rounds!!
Matthews v Choi 3!!!
-
Re: Really lookin forward to Prizefighter Super Featherweights tonight....

With how badly he was wobbled in the second round there, I think it'd have to be a choice between a rematch and fighting a pack of rabid dogs for Matthews, and that would be a 50/50 choice for him. I'd love to see it happen, but there's no chance Matthews would want to face his demons a third time.
