Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
Shane Mosley fights for a shot at Manny Pacquiao - Los Angeles Times
His comment about Mosley pretty much assures that the fight will be made. Arum will gain easy money, and it will give the pactards more room to say he's better than floyd after he beats up a clear over-the-hill mosley "worse" than Floyd beat an over-the-hill Mosley.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
Mosley does need to retire. Yet watch Roach and Pacquiao still take the fight against him

And his comment about Mosley will be completely disregarded when asked "why is pac fighting a man that you said needed to retire?"

He'll probably spout some rubbish like "Mosley is a skilled and crafty veteran, we just want to make sure".
Well, why not face a young, fast, unbeaten fighter for once then? Tim Bradley is only a weight division below.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
I think he would definately put up a better fight than Margarito did, but I also think Mosley should retire soon.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
Aside from financial reason, I think Mosely wants to go out as a proud warrior win or lose. He aint gonna retire with that mediocre performance against Mora.

Roach will just say that Manny is going to speed up his retirement. Look what happened to ODH.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
I'm with everyone else..... No way can Pac realistically fight Mosley now and put any hype to it after Roach was quoted saying Mosley should retire...
Now hopefully that is all we'll speak of it again..
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
Mosley is going on the Roy Jones Jr. late career path. He needs to give up boxing and just help promote fights with Oscar.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
for once, i will freddie roach would just shut hit twitchy big mouth. he should be more worried about his parkinson's instead of commenting what a future hall of famer should do. idiot!

That fight sucked hard, but I dont blame Mosley for it. he tried to engage at times. Mora just ran.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
I will go to Vegas and bet Mosley. They can take Mosley for granted if they want to!!!
BTW, I thought Mosley got off the GBP team? If he did, and I believe he did, the fight is on!!!
I'll rather see Pacman fight Berto or Martinez, but what do I know. I'm picking Mosley!!!

Personally I would pick Mosley to land a few decent shots... Maybe the hardest Pac has taken in the last couple of years... And might even pick Mosley to look good for a round or two.. But unless Shane got a KO before the end of round 4, I really feel it would be another mercy job by Pac down the straight, not wanting to completely ruin Mosley's brain for his retirement...
Anyway, welcome to the forum buddy!! Hope you stick around...
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
Just thought I'd dig this up, with the not so big fight happening tomorrow.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
November 5, 1994 Became the oldest undisputed Heavyweight and Linear Champion.
George Foreman 46
Michael Moorer 27
Big George went on to fight 4 more times earning 10 of Millions.
As long as Mosley believes in himself and can be competitive in the ring, who the hell is Freddie Roach to tell him he needs to retire?
BTW: I agree Mosley needs to retire.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
A timely time to raise this thread. I have been highly critical of Mosley for a good while now and it has been deserved. It is hard to praise an ageing fighter who has stopped looking good. However, if you like a fighter then you have to support them when the big fight arrives. You can be critical, but when the fight comes around sentimentality does creep back in. Mosley is the sentimental favourite for this one and that's because of who he is and his past achievements rather than what he has been producing recently.
Maybe this is the point where Roach gets his wish, after saying that Mosley is past it and then fighting him regardless. It would be a dream scenario to see those words rammed back down the throat of Freddie Roach though. He pisses me off with his blatant contradictions and deception. There is nothing wrong with having strong views, but if you are going to contradict yourself all the time, you might as well keep your mouth shut.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
Yha they are already trying to convince us Shane is legit....
"He's not old — he moves like 31, 32 years old," Pacquiao said of Mosley
LOL
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
Some times Freddie talks shit, although been acknowledged himself as trashtalker, also after the Hopkins - Calzaghe fight Freddie was the lead trainer of Nard on that time i guess after the fight told everybody that Hopkins should retire after that. Fastforward an aging Hopkins shows good with a younger Pascal.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
Mosley said it best "My last two fights were a blessing in disguise. If those two fights hadn't happened, I wouldn't be here today."
Idle jab at Pacquiao Shane saying if he didn't lose and look like crap for two fights he wouldn't be fighting pacquiao now.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
He looked like a young man against Tony and was begging for pac after... They wanted nothing to do with it.
Re: Freddie Roach "Mosley Needs to Retire"
I'm sure he'll stick around after tonights inevitable loss. He hopefully just for a couple of end on a high wins over lesser guys then calling it a day, I'd hate to see him dragging on for years like Roy Jones losing to guys way beneath him. He might have to tbhough his ex-wife gets about 5 grand a month off him just for clothes
