Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
Sergio Martinez: "Pacquiao is Too Small, It's a Mismatch" - Boxing News
The lineal MW champ thinks he's too big for Pac and that's a mismatch because of the size, he thinks fighting Floyd is perfect and a good matchup.

Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
I think he said he can do 156 for pac or floyd, but he may be right. Pac doesn't even make the 147 limit.
If pac and floyd doesnt get it on, I would rather have pac go for all the marbles and fight Sergio at 156 and win or lose retire.

Yep, me too.

Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
I don't see 156,too high and too close to Martinez's comfort zone. Mayweather and Pacquiao are both faster, more versatile and better balanced than Martinez. Pavlik and Williams are not the same caliber is either of the top 2.
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
Williams got careless. He didn't adjust after the first round. He fought Sergio's fight.
I say Team Pac should fight Martinez at 154 asap.
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
Middle weight is 160 pounds. No more. No less.
If you can't fight at 160 pounds then it's not a middleweight fight and titles shouldn't be on the line.
If you want to fight a middleweight fight one without trying to drain them. Fight them at their optimum weight otherwise it's a bullshit handicap match.
If you want to fight at 154 that's light middleweight so fight someone in the light middleweight division AT 154 POUNDS!
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
martinez is right, it would be a mismatch. remember that martinez is in his physical prime, is bigger than pacquiao and has impressive handspeed. this wouldn't bode well for team pacquiao. this fight will never happen!
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
They are both too small...enough of these catchweights. Every good fighter in every division doesn't have to fight floyd or pac geeeezuussss.

Berto or Alexander/Bradley winner are also potential candidates. Unless you're telling me that they don't have speed or past their prime? Oh right, the excuse will be they were too green.

Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
bulldog,
of course alexander, berto or bradley would be great matchups for pacquiao!!! at least pacquiao would be fighting opponents who can almost match his handspeed. i never said they weren't! and FYI, i was commenting that martinez would be too big for pacquiao and it would be a mismatch. no way in hell pacquiao beats him.

i'd much racher see Alexander/Bradley at 140 than some handicap match.

Of course Pacquiao wouldn't beat Martinez, the size and skills would be too much. Hell I don't think Pacquiao even weighed more than 145 on the scales ever. But Floyd can actually make weight for 150+ on the scales like he did against De La Hoya. Now that would be an interesting matchup.

Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
I'd agree that a martinez/mayweather jr. match would be excellent but that's if mayweather would take that challenge which i seriously doubt he would, especially of what transpired last night!

senior was especially concern about martinez being a lefty. i doubt mayweather's camp would consider fighting him.

yeah, this fight (martinez/mayweather) will never happen!

Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
Martinez should not be suckered into conceeding a thing weight wise for a Manny fight but we all know money talks. he's to big and he's just as fast and a smart boxer with what you can only call one punch power ?! Pac dont want none of that. Floyd is really being surpassed by some shining stars...again.

You do know that Williams got a catchweight (158) for this fight too, right?
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
i agree though, enough with the catchweight bullshit, and not only for Manny, if you wanna fight a bigger guy for a challenge well then fight the bigger guy where he can be a challenge which is his actual weight, if Pacquiao wants to fight Martinez for HIS Middleweight title, well let it be at 160
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
This fight shouldn't happen, Martinez is too big for Manny. He's a middleweight ffs, Manny can just about get up around 147. I'd rather him fight Berto or Bradley if a Mayweather fight doesn't happen
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
Martinez is huge around the shoulders, he is too big for Manny. It's Mayweather or a Marquez rematch for Pacman.
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
This is stupid! Martinez just destroyed Williams at 158 and is a former 154 champ PAC is supposedly the 154 champ this is an ideal fight while Mr holiday is on vacation assaulting security officers. if PAc is to small he should not have fought for the 154 title.

Why is this stupid? Martinez is right Pac is too small for him he could barely reach 145. Mayweather on the other hand was 150+ on the scales against De La Hoya and no catchweight. Not to mentioned Martinez a while back said that Mayweather is the true no. 1 p4p king. There you have it, the MW champ wants the no. 1 p4p fighter. I mean a lot of Floyd fans said that Martinez would be an easy fight for Floyd like Taeth said and on other forums there are a lot of Taeth posters thinking that way.

Absurd that some people think that IMO. Mayweather may win that fight, but it wouldn't be easy against a prime, fast, bigger southpaw he could be in heaps of trouble. It'd be an incredibly risky fight and if either of them were to take him on they'd deserve huge credit for it. I don't think either guy fights him though. Personally I'd like Martinez to unify at MW.
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
Pac isn't even a lmw, let alone a mw, there would be a 20, 25 pound weight difference come fight night. Pacquiao is fast but hell if marg was able to hit him as much as he was able to I'm pretty sure martinez would be able to as well. Martinez has a pretty dam good chin himself with speed to go along with it, hell he took pavliks punches before battering him into submission, so not sure pac would be able to keep him off. I think pac would be knocked out if this fight was to happen, granted we've said this before about pac fights. Let pac stay at 147, 160 is a mountain to high and honestly isn't even an appealing fight for me. As for pbf fighting him doubt that ever comes off, to high a risk for pbf. As cresa said have martinez unify,a fight a year down the road with pirog would be extremely appealing in the meantime he can fight sturm, or who knows a lmw coming up.
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
Pac never weigh more than 145 in a fight and never more than 149 fight night.
Martinez was 158 at the weigh in. add another 10 lbs for re hydration and he has 20lbs over Pacquiao that wont be a fair fight.
Pac should fight 1 or 2 more times within 147 and then retire. Martinez should go for Bute.
Will Pascal talk about Floyd and pac too if he beat Hopkins? :p;)
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
well apparently, many pactards are saying martinez is overrated and not very good because he lost to margarito earlier in his career. they seem to think that just because margarito knocked out martinez and pacquiao easily beat margarito, that martinez would be an easy fight. WTF?
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
This whole 'I'm gonna call out Floyd & Manny' thing is getting ridiculous.
Granted both have won titles at LMW, but only when being drastically outweighed by much bigger opponents. Hell, on the night, they were both only about 148-150lbs at the weight, why would they fight a guy like Martinez who could feasibly coming in at anything up to 170+?
Seriously, I would like to see Martinez take on a tough guy like Pirog or a more green Lemieux for big money, let Williams have a comeback fight & focus on being a MW rather than having one eye on the Welterweight division & then have a trilogy.
Seriously, I'm half expecting Wlad to say he wants to meet PBF or Pac at a catchweight of 203lbs after he murders Chisora
-
Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
If the fight were to be made at 154 then I would have no issues with it. I would imagine Martinez would need to boil down a lot to make that weight now, so one fighter is going up and the other coming back down. They would be meeting half way. But if it's a catchweight north or south of 154, then to hell with the whole thing. I'm sick to death of these ridiculous catchweights.
I think Martinez is too big for the both of them though and not a whole lot slower. He would definitely bulk up after the weigh in a whole lot more though.
I'm fine with a Floyd or Pac fight, Martinez deserves a good payday and he is in the twilight of his career, but I'm not so sure Floyd or Manny would want to fight him. But I am equally satisfied to see him stay at MW and finish with another 3 fights.

I agree. But as a big fan of both Martinez and Lemieux, feel it is still too early to even consider that match. He needs a few more years under his belt before being ready for the likes of Sergio imo. As a handler I just wouldn't do it. Too young to risk it. And sadly, that might not fit well into Sergio's time line.
Pirog would like to see, and agree too to Paul getting what he needs, retooling his style, some confidence builders in against a punching bag or 2...and then let the trilogy happen.

He is only too small for certain light middleweights apparantly

You can't be picking and choosing who is too big. If your gonna play with fire with a Light Middle title, then you simply have to expect to get burnt. Fight Light Middleweights or give back the title. Manny should stick to 147 | 140. I say Martinez stops probably stops Floyd and definitely Manny at 154.

Re: Sergio Martinez: Pac is too small that's a mismatch, Floyd is perfect for a fight
Pacman has to see that he is not the big fish in the water. If he were a few inches taller and ten ponds heavier, Martinez would be wrong in his assessment of Pacman. Floyd would be a better candidate and Martinez would be too big but the again didn't Margarito knock him out? Weight or no weight styles make fights. One more thing, No one should have to concede weight and be something he is not, a lesser fighter. Henry Armstrong of yesteryear fought the champions at their weight and won.
