JMM proves he is equally as great as Manny Pacquiao, he fought a young hungry challenger. He was knocked down and hurt multiple times, but yet he showed unbelievable heart again. And fought an unbelievable fight in the FOTY, JMM is as good as Morales, MAB. He truly is one of the best of this era.
I love Marquez, but he's clearly second to Manny Pacquiao in terms of accomplishments. I would agree that he's on par with fighters like Barrera and Morales though.
My hats to Marquez for winning. I guess he doesnt either needs Katsidis hes beaten before by the aging Casa who beaten by Marquez he should go up for 140 he should face Alexander/Bradley than Katsidis fact seems 135 has no threat at him right now.

JMM is a great true and worthy champion fought from the floor up and dismantled a worthy opponent yet again.
Humberto Soto is a good opponent for JMM at 135, i don't want to see JMM move up personally. Although he might do just that, to become the first Mexican fighter to win 4 world titles in 4 weight classes.Quote:

Marquez looked great and not at all a man of 37. Hats off to both fighters for giving us a wonderful show. These guys are great for boxing and I hope we see more of them in the future.
I thought Katsidis had it in him to put JMM down, but I guess I underestimated JMM's bouncebackability after being knocked down.
Credit to Kat though, I think he was much better than people expected. Most had predicted a fully one sided beatdown.
JMM has been down again, just like in his other fights but he can never be stopped. Good fight and another excellent performance from a Mexican fighter, and he's 37!!!
I agree that he should be regarded in the same level as Morales and Barrera.
i haven't seen the fight yet, gonna watch it in a bit, but IMO Soto is looking more faded than Marquez in his last few outings, and IMO he'd beat Soto easily
I haven't been so emotionally invested in a fight in a very long time.
When Marquez went down I felt sick.

I've always liked and admired JMM... a gentleman and a true champion. He showed a lot of grit, heart, and showed why he's an ATG. And my hat's off to Katsidis also. I knew he'd bring it, and he certainly did. No shame in losing to JMM, tho. What a frikking good fight!
On a side note, both Jason Litzau (who won me over last night with his showing vs. Caballero) and Caballero himself should stay away from JuanMa. He'll have them both for lunch.
gotta love katsidis' heart. but he is what he is, and that's a somewhat limited, poor defensive fighter. his heart reminds me of the late arturo gatti in that he also was limited as a boxer but his heart was bigger than his talent.
Huge respect to both fighters. Marquez was brilliant (52% power shots landed?!), Katsidis fought the fight of his life.
I was emotionally torn throughout - if there was ever a fight I wished there wasn't a loser that was it.
Only just watched it as I was pissed to fuck and fell asleep last night during the Bika fight. Good fight, loved every minute of it. JMM is no doubt an amazing fighter but he's not quite as great as Pac.
Props to Katsidis too, sorry to hear about his brother I never knew that.

Katsidis seems to be to be a fighter that one day will win the title with a shot out of nowhere and become the story of the year because of it. It would be a shame if he went throughout his career without a title. Considering thw two lightweight champions he lost to, Casamayor and Marquez, that's got to be hard to be a lightweight coming up at those times and have to fight goes guys. He never fought the paper champ he fought the guy of the division both times and came up just short. Gotta feel for the guy.
Majesty I agree I think he will win the title some day, he fought the champ both times and came up slightly short, especially in the Casa fight where he was ahead and just got careless. I think once jmm is done the door will be open for him to take it and that will be his best shot.
i'd love to someday see brandon rios vs. michael katsidis fight it out for a vacant title. it would be an absolute war.
