Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
Wlads manager seems to think so, if this is true sky can go fuck themselves. Apparently they had a date for April 30th set but Sky didnt want two ppv's in April and wouldnt put the Khan fight back till may??
WTF?
So Sky have sided with the Khan fight who to date has been a ppv flop against a unknown opponent likely to be Peterson instead of possibly the biggest ppv fight or one them in Sky's history
Just does not add up to me, and surely this fight is not going to happen on the new date of July 2nd 8 weeks after the Chisora fight?? I would like to no the last time an elite fighter fought two world title fights within 8 weeks.
This is what Wlads manager had to say..
"We wanted to do the fight April 30 with Haye. We had two stadiums available in Germany, and coming to Germany was not a problem for Haye," Boente said.
"They only wanted neutral officials, judges, referee, all that. That is no problem. We agreed on all the points, but the major issue was Sky was not willing to do a second pay-per-view in April."
Junior welterweight titlist Amir Khan is slated to fight April 16 in England on Sky Box Office, even though he does not have a set opponent.
"We asked them to change the Khan date, maybe move it back to May, but they didn't want to do that,
-
I saw this, absolute joke if Sky have stopped such a massive fight going through because they want to charge people to see Khan fight Lamont Peterson of someone of that type.
I saw an interview with Wlad where he said Sky didn't want it to clash with the royal wedding. Seriously. I don't know what they're on if either of these stopped this fight happening in April.
I can't see Wlad wanting 2 defences that close together, maybe it'll be pushed back to the end of July? Even then he'll pretty much be going straight into a training camp after the Chisora fight. It'll be really disappointing if both sides finally agreed on everything only for Sky to stop it happening
-
Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
This is nonsense. Khan, as Skel said, has done toilet PPV so far and his April fight is a "gimme." So Sky are not prepared to change Khan's date over the possible record breaking Haye-Wlad PPV? Yeah right...
-
Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
The ONLY issue I see coming from the WBA title holder's camp is that Wlad is choosing to have a tune up before the July 2nd date....that's the only thing their camp is bitching about.
Wlad is honoring the agreement he had with Chisora and then this fight can happen...it's not like Wlad can't swing a 2 month turn around especially when he's fighting Chisora first.

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
All I can say is Wlad and his team NEED to stop blaming everyone else. The date was there for the biggest payday of his career and he shit himself. Plain and simple.
Ever since that freak Boente was on Ringside and Booth run rings around him saying that they should have the negotiations in public I have not been 100% sure it was Haye making the negotiations so difficult as the Bitschkos team were trying to have us all believe. You saw the fear come over his stupid fucking face. I'm so fucking angry right now that I could kill that fucking little bastard, the sisters need to get someone else behind them if they have any intentions of fighting anyone that might cause a threat.
Well I hope they are happy with themselves now. The biggest fight in the division for nearly 10 years has gone and thats the end of that story. Thank you very much you china chinned fuck and your gay little freak of a manager. All I can say now is where does Haye go from here? Chagaev as soon as possible would be my choice, but now I don't think Haye and Wladimir Bitschko will ever fight because Wlad is a pussy.
Boxing - Haye: I’m done with Klitschkos

Jesus christ man. It's just sports. And sport is entertainment. It ain't that serious.
And if I'm not mistaken it's because of the conflict with Khan fighting in April. Since everything is agreed upon.
This post is almost as bad as when Lefty Lee threatened some members wife and kids over Haye.

Lyle mate that is pathetic, imagine Haye decided to have a fight against someone on Chisora's level instead of fighting Wlad, Wlad and his team are looking like jokes right now. This fight will never happen.
Like Haye said Wlad has fought three times in the last two years but he reckons he is fighting twice within 8 weeks and the second one the biggest fight of his career? Not a fucking hope.
I have blamed Haye in the past but the blame is solely with Wlad and his team for this one, how the hell they can fight Chisora when Haye as agreed to everything is beyond me.
It is like Haye saying Wlad lets hold the biggest fight off in the division for best past of ten years I fancy fighting Tyson Fury. :-\

Also Lyle while we wait for Klit to fight the world renowned Chisora what does Haye do? Just wait around till july 8 months after his last fight which was not really a fight so in truth his last fight would of been april 2010 a full 15 months prior?
So say Haye fights in April aswell you telling me things will run smoothly in both fights and they will both be fine to go 8 weeks later in the biggest fight in both there careers?? Bullshit Wlad is a cock. This fight if it happens cant see it, will be much later in the year if Wlad is fighting Del Boy in April.

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
This is just a massive disappointment. I still can't get over that Sky is choosing Khan's fight over Haye. Whoever's in charge of making that decision needs to get fired. The Haye-Wlad fight would do at least 1million minimum on British PPV whereas Khan and whoever he fights would be lucky to even reach a quarter of that.

Agreed!!! Lyle that is verging on verbal wank and you know it..
"The fight with Haye is not off, the fight is on," Klitschko told examiner.com. "We had to get clearance on a date with Sky TV for pay per view in the UK and they we were concerned about conflicting with the upcoming royal wedding.
"So the wedding is set for the end of April and we got clearance on a fight date of July 2, for sure. I will fight Chisora on an April date, in Germany. Then we will move forward with Haye."
How the fuck can anyone use the Royal Wedding as any sort of excuse when it's over a month before?
Do Royal Weddings usually start at 10pm?
Even if the fight/wedding were on the same fucking day.... Someone tell me how a early afternoon wedding ceremony would affect the viewing of a 9/10pm fight?
Klitschko is basically shitting it and wants out imo, he knows full well Haye is a a Huge threat, faster and more hungry than anyone out there and is trying to milk his belt one more time before he gets sparked out and loses the title.

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
Boxrec already have this pencilled in for (obviously subject to change)
Pretty ironic that Both Haye and Wlad got TKO'd by Carl Thompson in 5 rounds in previous fights.

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
like Pacquiao vs Mayweather, this fight will go down in the history books as another great looking match up that never happened.
People will take sides and choose to believe what they want and bitch about it was this persons fault or that person and blah blah blah.....
At the end of the day. It ain't happening. Simple.

Don't agree with that!
This will be forced to happen one way or another..same as Pac v PBF
Too bigger fights for them both not to happen.
All i see is yet more delays and anyone with half a brain can see Wlad is clearly the one who making it difficult

That's a fair point. And you do have the arguement that its too much money for both sides to turn down.
But
I'm of the opinion neither fight will happen. would LOVE to be proved wrong, but I don't think I will be.

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
I was on the fence about who was to blame and though I blamed Haye last time I could see why he pulled out when Setanta wa son verge of collapse - he couldn't risk not getting paid.
But this is Klitschko big time now for me - and I make him an overwhelming favourite so whats he playing at ??
I was just about to say I can see why they dont want to clash with royla wedding though - thousands of potential viewers will be pissed up and fall asleep (not after celebrating wedding but just spending the day in the oub) without pressing the ppv pay button (and a few gay sad ones who will want to watch wedding highlights - but isn't the wedding a Friday not Saturday ??
Khan should come out and say he doesn't want to prevent the fight and miss his April date - might gain him a few more UK fans and lets face it he needs them ;D

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
One would think since Golden Boy Promotions has both Khan and the WBA titleholder that they would see that a heavyweight unification bout was a bit bigger deal than Khan vs TBA and they would have helped the deal get made.
Seems to me that July 2nd was a do-able date why object to that? On 1 hand if Wlad didn't fight until July 2nd he could be a little rusty on the other hand if he fought April 30th and then on July 2nd he could be over trained....so I fail to see what the other camp is complaining about.
I'm getting a good laugh from all of you who think Wlad is scared....the styles don't match it's an EASY win for Wlad, easy

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
He does want to fight, they couldn't get the TV and venues set up correctly because apparently Amir Khan is a bigger deal to Sky than the WBA titleholder

that is a slight posibility, but only very slight
its highly more likely that he doesnt want to fight

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
Wlad is scared to fight haye plain and simple...They have let the boxing world down and i now hope del boy goes and sparks he lights out...I think the brother's our one big farce and i would be glad to see the back of em.;D

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
This is bullshit, as surely Frank Warren is going to make the Chisora Wlad fight a PPV... it's inevitable.

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
To be fair, Khan has a HBO date in April aswell, as he has a deal with them, not just Sky. Can't really blame Sky for not wanting to piss Khan off in order to screen a fight that will most likely fall through anyway. ;D

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
Anyone who thinks Wlad is 'scared' is ridiculous and doesn't really understand boxing or how fighters think. Fear is natural, yes but these guys aren't scared so bad that they don't want to step in the ring with each other.

Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
Sky are short sighted prats who have there head up Amir Khans ass.
-
Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
To be honest Sky could afford to not show a Khan PPV. I don't think he's ever done well on box office, the sales are low especially compared to Haye's, and they didn't show the Malignaggi fight after all. Sky are by far the main network in the UK, so they could do what they want in regards to pissing Khan off by not showing it, he'll still come back because that's the network that he'll get the most money from over here. I understand Khan has a date with HBO so Sky can't move it, so the only benefit to Sky saying no to April 30th is that they get a Haye-Chagaev PPV, and then Haye-Wlad.That makes sense I guess, but its frustrating as fans when a fight gets so close to being made only for a network to stop it.
Chisora-Wlad can't be PPV surely as that's April 30th, the date Sky were supposedly unwilling to schedule another box office show, and even if it were what kind of numbers would it do? I can't imagine it doing many. If it is on PPV then we'll know it wasn't Sky that stopped the fight happening though
-
Re: Sky to blame for the Wlad/Haye fight not happening?
why on gods earth would sky throw away there biggest money maker in years for an amir khan fight.
They happily showed pacquiao-margarito the same night as haye-harrison, this smells of b-s to me
