Haye will he retire in October?
Just read he is deffo retiring he says he doesn't want to go on like other champions too long and get beat up by a fresher hungrier fighter WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF?
This will surely be the most bizarre retirement ever even more so he will not be fighting any of the Klits, he is going on as if he is the main man in the division who has cleaned it out and is in his late thirties and accomplished all he needs to??
The guy is only 18 months in from being a heavyweight prospect and has beat a bunch of no marks or old fucking men, he is going to be 31 when most heavyweights haven't even hit there prime?
He surely can't retire? What a joke if he does.
Re: Haye will he retire in October?
RETIRE ?!?!? WTF...
....I mean... of course... retire. The man is already 30 years of age. He's fought a "who's who" of boxing through a long and illustrious career. He has fought the best the HW division has to offer. His heartfelt challenges to the Klitschkos have fallen on deaf ears. He's been through the wars and classics that define the career of every great fighter. Can you say "Hall of Fame"?
Re: Haye will he retire in October?
Well he kept his promise of bringing excitement back to the heavies by taking longer to ko really old past their prime fighters than it took other fighters to ko them when they were in their prime...mission not accomplished.
Re: Haye will he retire in October?
He may well do but it wont last long. Hayes ego is huge, i don't think he realises how he is being judged by hardcore boxing fans at the moment. When the criticism from the boxing world truly gets to him he'll be back to make amends but it might be too late by then, he might be too old or the damage to his rep may be unreversable.
Haye is very popular now, he loves being a celebrity and the attention he gets. He must have been on every celebrity tv programme at christmas. All the attention he gets probably convinces him he is already considered a legend.
He will respected as a cruiserweight when people look back but as a heavyweight he is nowhere near to realising his potential.
We all know the HW division is in a bad place at the moment but if he fights the best available it will be recognised.
I actually don't think the division is as bad as we are led to believe, the skill levels of some fighters are there its there desire and discipline that seems to be lacking. How many fighters have gone in against the klitschkos and been fucked after a few rounds and hardly able to provide a challenge? If they were in better condition and the respect for a HW title shot that it deserves the fights would be better.

Re: Haye will he retire in October?
Yeah I saw this the other day. He said if he was going to retire at the end of October knowing that he had done everything he could to get the Klitschko's in the ring and he could retire proud of his acomplishments.
I'm not actually sure what he has even acheived, I mean Mormeck, Enzo, Ruiz and Valuev are not exactly big wins. I think you'd consider a fighter to be a bit of a joke were he to lose to any of them.
He's beaten nobody that Thomas Adamek wouldn't have beat, maybe even a 40 year old Antonio Tarver or B Hop....

His win over Enzo alone puts him among the elites
Re: Haye will he retire in October?
He regularly lies, why expect any difference here?
Re: Haye will he retire in October?
26 pro fights. Wow, just wow.
For the record, I think it is just attention seeking. Not a chance in hell he doesn't return to the ring after October this year.
Liar.

If he wants to retire with his head intact and be there to give a good life too his wife and kids then that's fine by me.
I agree to a certain extent Paddy but he has not proved a lot at heavyweight in truth.

Good riddance I say and leave the door cracked when you leave... Hopefully Holyfield , valuev, tarver , and some others leave with you
I don't even mind what Haye has said, he's done an incredible job of selling himself and has literally made tens of millions of dollars as a result. It's the people who parrot his every word and actually believe he's some kind of boxing messiah that drive me insane.
I think he has a decent shot of beating Vitali, but at this point he's all talk.
Re: Haye will he retire in October?
Well I dont wanna see him get a shot over Adamek then, if he's just gonna turn around and retire after the fight. Let someone get a shot who wants to reign over the division for a few years at least. Kind of sounds like he just wants that paycheck now, not necessarily the titles. Stupid manuever if he is bullshitting.
Re: Haye will he retire in October?
*sigh* why are so many so called boxing fans acting like members of the general public and buying this?
Its the old cliche... Hint that this may be your last fight and all of a sudden a mediocre fight is a big fight. Double the interest... How long has hopkins been doing it? Even Pacman does it every other fight... Failing that you 'retire' and then surprisingly comeback and again - you up the hype and sell more tickets.
Its been done to death and frankly I'm amazed so many of the switched on guys here have bought it...
Don't let an intense dislike of david haye make you dumb enough to actually buy this shit...
Re: Haye will he retire in October?
Every boxer I know who has said they would retire at a certain age, never does, ODH, Benn, Hopkins etc Amir and Haye will not either.

I agree I don't buy it at all...IMO it is a lame attempt to draw a fight with Wlad...Almost as if he will come to fight now because if he doesn't he knows there will always be a question mark on his resume....Haye needs to do more fighting less talking...It is great to be a trash talker but lets get some REAL names on the resume before acting as if we matter as much as the media makes him think he does....I mean lets be honest lets pretend Sultan or Chagaev still held belts a Haye was caling them out and playing games with them like the ones that have been goiong on with the Klitschkos back and forth....Would anyone really care? NO it would have been swept under the carpet if neither man faced him....

Erm, who are these younger, fresher guys in the heavyweight division?
Tyson Fury?
Get a grip ffs.
He'll be 31, not 35.
What a class A bellend.

This forum must look like a good place solicit.
The problem for me is, i'd never pay a penny to watch a fight that David Haye is part of, fortunately it's on free HBO here in the States.
BTW, Haye will retire July 2nd after being severely abused and battered by the HW champion, what would be the point of getting crushed again, this time by Vitali.
