Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
This fight is ridiculous man. Where is Adameks ambition at all.... He fought Arreola 3 fights back, then fights Grant, Maddalone and now this. Why the hell is he now signed to fight Kevin McBride...... Is he trying to do things in reverse.

Nah, it's more Main Event trying to keep him busy before one of his bout with the K, they don't want him to fall back in the rankings so they are taking big dudes to practice him with not too much risk. Beside, he'll clock another 1.5 millions staying busy before the situation with the K and Haye unravel.
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
$1.5million stay busy fight? Dream on, he wont get much more than that against a Klit. Try $50,000. If he could make million+ purses fighting washed-up journeymen like McBride he'd never need go near a Klit. Fact.
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
If it is a joke, I ain't laughing.
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
theyre trying to keep him busy before fighting a kiltschko. And its also practice against a tall guy. Btw , Ive read Adamek will get 5 mil for the klitschko fight
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
Its April the first right ?
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
This is just a stay-busy fight before the Klitschko bout. I don't see the problem.

That's probably for fighting both of them. The Klits and Haye is the only way he makes million dollar paydays. He fought Arreola on HBO for a $100,000 just a few fights ago.
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
Stay busy fight, he's been fighting every 3 months on average lately so...As for the money I imagine he made a nice chunk of change fighting golota in poland but who knows I might be way off base
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
he had 500k against Golota from what I remember
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
have you seen who the hw champions are fighting?!
makes adamek look like a hero for taking on this bum!

would you rather him sit out until his title fight in Sept, and end up fighting once a year like some cowardly english fighter we all know.

He'll make at least 500K, I might be exagerating with 1.5 but Adamek is the second biggest tockets seller behind Manny Pacquiao for the past year, at least that's what I've heard from an interview with Gary Shaw I believe. So yeah, somewhere between 500K and let's say 750K per fight is quite a reasonable guess for what he does at the moment.

Hell no, not at all........ But Kevin McBride..... Ha. Imagine Haye signed to fight him..... After fighting Vinny Maddalone and Michael Grant..... And Andrew Golota.... Haha......

If Haye had a contracted fight with a Klitscko in the fall, no one (well, no one rational) would complain about him taking another gimme in the interim.

Quite reasonable but absolute fantasy (unless you can produce some figures of course?).
Adamek got $100,000 against Arreola. Against Grant he was on some minor PPV channel where his money was determined by what he sold. Kathy Duva, his promoter, said he would "PROBABLY" make more than he did against Arreola (I've never seen any after fight figures), so we can safely assume it wasn't much more than $100,000 at the very best.
His fight with Golota, the biggest in Polish history, had a 15,000 crowd and possible 10 million TV audience, yet his pay was supposedly $500,000 (according to gest12645). Which says it all, $500,000 for great numbers but no American interest/money.
Golden Boy, when trying to make Hopkins-Adamek, said Adamek was worth no more than $500,000, and HBO wouldn't up their wedge to stop the fight falling through.
He is a good ticket seller in New Jersey because of the Polish community. That's true. But cheap tickets doesn't equate to huge paydays. The big money comes from TV companies, which certainly do not pay huge sums for contests against journeymen/veterans, who he has currently been fighting. ;)

This is a reasonable warm up fight.

I'm pretty sure if Haye had moved up in the same manner that adamek did, that is withou t all the bullshit talk and claiming to be he heavyweight savior, people would go a lot easier on his choice of opponents. Also lets be honest who the hell has haye fought that's significantly better than adamek's list of opponents at heavy? Plus adamek's got a fight coming up with one of the klits

I can understand it though mate. Mcbride is a big guy and Adamek surely can't lose against him. If he did lose he would lose his big shot!!

I know that TV deals and PPV are the most significant money income but still, I would very surprise that a guy who can fill 16-17K at the Providence Center every fight he does can only cash 100K per fight, that sounds a bit low to me, even if it might be true. As for his fight with Golota in Poland, I am very shocked if he only made 500K, not that 500K is bad but for a HW fighting the fight of the "century" in a 40 millions people.... I will try to make some researches as the whole thing makes me very curious, haven't found any credible source as for the numbers and at the moment, if what you say is true, it's much lower than what I thought.

Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
Preparation is KEY......... I know he doesn't want to be going life and death with an opponent before Klitschko, but Kevin McBride is not good prep at all for a Klit.

There are not that many fighters that can prepare you for Klit and not be dangerous as well. This guy is tall and beatable. Good choice.

As was Audley Harrison ;D

Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
I don't see how McBride is going to help him prepare for a Klitschko? I mean he's a big guy but he's slower than global warming. This will be another beatdown ala Bobby Gunn. He'd learn more from fighting Michael Grant again or Kali Meehan. Or hell, throw him in with Ray Austin.
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
Guys, Adamek will get >35% of all income from Klitschko fight. At least that's what Adamek's promotor said in some interview. They've been also praising Klits for their generosity but at the same time they mentioned someting about "great deal of money being available at that time in Poland" (promotion of new soccer stadiums for Euro 2012), which I think is the key here.
As for Golota fight, I wouldn't be surprised if he earned less than 500K for that. The fight was available on open TV channel. September Klitschko fight will be the first PPV event in Poland.
As for McBride - it sucks, but it wouldn't have happened if he didn't sign with Klits. Still, what annoys me more is not the fight itself, but the fact that it will probably be the main event. Bouts like this should be an undercard.

see that would be valid if Haye went ahead and made the fight with either Wlad or Vitali, but he didn't
he'll probably end up fighting Holyfield or McCall who got a "big win" against Oquendo
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
It's a stay busy fight, I don't see the problem. Stay busy then fight a Klit. Something David "the mouth and watch me fight a bum a year" Haye could never accomplish. Adamek is good for the division, nobody who supports Haye should ever criticise someone like Adamek.

I doubt Haye would fight McCall, he's one of those guys that pulls off a win after looking like crap against a journeyman. You never know what your gonna get with him. Plus he's never been stopped(other than crying and not fighting against Lewis). :bawling:

You know what I mean. :p
I like a heavyweight who fights regularly and just gets the job done. Adamek is a solid, hard working professional. Haye is a big mouthed self publicist and who is actually going to fight the Klits first? Adamek has gone up to heavyweight, seen what he can handle and is now getting ready for the big one. Haye cancelled a bunch of fights, made off with the easiest belt and on the way never once shut up regarding the Klits who he refuses to fight. He has made himself a laughing stock because of it. I can't take him seriously as a fighter because he hasn't shown that he can handle a top HW. Even Evander Holyfield looked better against Valuev than Haye.
Haye pisses me off because he makes a mockery of the sport. Adamek is just staying busy against McBride in preparation for a fight that WILL come off. I can go easy on him for that. What has Haye got lined up to make up for Harrison? Diddley squat. :-\

completely agree, hell even Wlad was doing the same thing, taking up a tune up with Chisora then take on Haye, but well we know how that turned out

If thats aimed at me Miles then I am no Haye supporter, not in a million years. I just genuinely think that McBride is absolutely no prep for Klits. I'm amazed that everyone is for it. He isn't fighting Klit till september, so the only fight he's having in between is McBrdie. I say Adamek gets smashed by Klit anyhoooooo..............

in all honesty, who else is there to "help prep him" for either Klitchsko? and well he can't fare any worse than Haye would

Haha......
Who else for Preparation, who else??? Someone ranked inside the Top 200 Heavyweights on Boxrec would be a fuckin start............. Atleast when he fought Maddalone he was almost ranked inside the top 100........
If someone ranked in the top 10 of any division tried to sign a fight with a guy ranked outside the top 200 it would be labelled a JOKE on any planet........... IMO

There isn't really anyone. Sergei Lyakhovich is probably the best bet out there.
Size wise Tyson Fury is the answer but that just isn't going to happen.
The best prep for a Klitschko is quite simply the other one, but it wouldn't be a warm up would it?
-
Re: Adamek vs McBride..... Is this a joke?
Kevin McBride? Come on, why even fight why not just spar the guy?
