EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
Marcos Maidana-Erik Morales is Music To Diaz's Ears - Boxing News
If any commission in the world allows this to happen it will be a black eye for boxing. If Morales experienced headaches after David Diaz, then I really fear for his health against Maidana. Please do not let this happen, for the sake of the sport.

Re: Morales wants Maidana for WBA Title (Khan will be Super Champion)
This is possibly one of the worst boxing ideas in the last decade. Apparently Schaefer says that Morales really really wants this fight. Unbelievable. SHIT IDEA. I think Golden Boy are seriously scraping the barrel.

Re: Morales wants Maidana for WBA Title (Khan will be Super Champion)
Did I miss something?
What happen to JMM vs Morales?
JMM vs MM would be better!!!

JMM vs Morales is dead and buried, just where it should be. From what I heard, Marquez eventually turned down the fight. Seems he saw sense and decided not to waste an entire fight camp on a fight that meant absolutely nothing what so ever.

Re: Morales wants Maidana for WBA Title (Khan will be Super Champion)
Morales will going to get mauled.
-
I thought it got called off and now it's back on? If he fights maidana he will get stopped.
-
Re: Morales wants Maidana for WBA Title (Khan will be Super Champion)
Hell, i'm gonna get it out there. Why don't GoldenBoy just wheel De La Hoya back in to the mix, Maybe Morales could fight him at 147 or 154 or somethin. Are GBP really short short of
#1 Cash
#2 Fighters
#3 Sense
that they need to try make a match-up like this.
GBP, slowly sinking, all aboard..........

I'll fight Morales. For my JBF (Joe Boxing Federation) title; he can pick the weight.

Re: Morales wants Maidana for WBA Title (Khan will be Super Champion)
Insane! Also why the hell is amir khan being made super champ, I mean I know the alphabet gangs are shit anyways but don't you have to have 2 titles to be super champ?
-
Re: Morales wants Maidana for WBA Title (Khan will be Super Champion)
Marquez decided against it because it would tei him into having more fights with Golden boy and he wants to be a free agent. His contract expires at the end of the month so he is going to see it out. Apparently he will follow Mosleys example as he is very unhappy with GBP.
Morales gets destroyed by Maidana but it will never happen anyway.
-

Breaking news: Marquez won't fight Morales | RingTV
Marquez don't want anyone else. He's just making noise while he sits out his contract expiration and then he try to follow Mosley's footsteps to go for Pacquiao on his own. He's pissed off that GBP couldn't seal the deal. He's got no business sense at all and listens to his mentor Nacho.

That makes sense. I guess he is following Mosley's example in that he can more easily land a fight with Pacquiao if he leaves GB.

Good God, this fight can't actually get santioned, can it?

Re: Morales wants Maidana for WBA Title (Khan will be Super Champion)
I don't get all this super champion bullshit and, to be honest, it pisses me off.

Just when you thought it had got even more complicated, with all this WBA Super Champion bullshit, the WBC went and upped the aunty, Erik Morales is now apparently ranked Number 1 by the WBC at 140............ Just when you thought things couldn't get any more ridiculous, or any more beyond a joke. These fukkas are killing boxing for real, someone needs to tell them.
I've been following boxing for quite a while, but I now officially have no idea whats goin on or what gives with rankings and belts anymore........ How on earth is anyone who has just joined, or looking to watch some or just looking out of interest at boxing even remotely gonna figure out this once simple puzzle of Who Is The The Champ" in each division......
EDIT: WBC, if your out there, Erik Morales ranked Number 1 at 140 is THE worst update to the sport I love I have seen in many a year.

Re: Morales wants Maidana for WBA Title (Khan will be Super Champion)
Morales over Maidana by UD. And I wouldn't even consider it much of an upset. The hype on Maidana has gone completely over board. Morales I think still has enough to deal with the wide punching Maidana. Maidana hits hard. But his power is some what overrated. It's not the devastating one-punch power it's made out to be. One look at Maidana's past fights and it shows he scores his stoppages by accumulation. Obviously it's not in Morales best interest to trade with Maidana. And I don't see him doing that. But if he were get caught, I think he'll take the punch. A faded Morales still takes a better punch than Con

Maidana-Morales Done, Says Erik: Chino Fires Miguel Diaz - Boxing News
It's a done deal. Seriously this fight should not be allowed to happen. Hopefully this doesn't end badly because I have nothing but respect for Morales.

Morales must be thinkin "if Khan survived Maidana, why can't I?" :)
Well mr Morales. Khan survived cuz he's agile and obviously he's in his prime.

Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
Golden boy seems like a pack of wide eyed ghouls with this...and I thought Ortiz vs a battered and shot Vivian harris was bad. Sick in the head.

Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
No wonders why boxing reputation is not the glamourous thing around...

I'd pick even a near-prime Morales to stop Maidana by the half-way point, but I don't think he has much left and I'm not sure about his punch-resistance at this point either.
-
Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
This is going to be bad. I don't think Maidana is an elite fighter but is way too dangerous for Morales to be fighting. Morales has a warrior's mentality and if he gets involved in a brawl, I don't think he'll shy away from it. I would be shocked if he pulls it off.
-
Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
Morales via UD or late stoppage.

I want what you are smoking.
Morales is so shot. He can't even erect himself on his spaghetti legs when he gets punched lightly. He is going to try to do a repeat performance like Khan, but it is not going to work. He sees blueprint, adn I just see roadkill.
Khan took huge shots from Maidana. And if you don't think Maidana has 1 punch power. watch round 1 of Maidana/Ortiz again, round 10 or Maidana/Khan or watch him pummel Cayo in 6 with powerful bodywork.
Khan was in the best shape of his life for the Maidana fight, and it showed. My hat goes off to him for a gutsy performance.

In the words of Clubber Lang-
Interviewer-"Whats your prediction for this fight champ"
Clubber Lang-"Pain"

It just seems so wrong doesn't it. Logic says maidana knocks morales silly. Or maybe just maybe morales and his team have seen something in madaina they can exploit. I hope the old warriors got at least one great performance left in him, because he's gonna need it in this fight. It's not impossible, but if was gonna put money on it, u no where it's going. WAR MORALES

Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
OA anyone?
The only times that Morales looks really 'terrible' were againts Pac who has freakish speed. The so so prepared version of Morales was even able to beat David Diaz.
Morales beat Alfaro who kayoed Corley the same Corley who gave a modest account againts Maidana. Yeah he doesnt look super elite in his last 3 W. But who is Maidana anyway? Yeah it looks like he has great power but will he just overwhelm Morales? He didnt even do it againts someone with a glass chin.
46 Yr. old Evander Holyfield was given a chance againts WBA Champion Valuev. Erik is 12 yrs younger than that.

I did. Ortiz got up. Con survived. Thank you for proving my point. I'm not saying he don't hit hard. Just saying he needs accumulation to get his stoppages. The rest has done Morales good. People gonna point to his recent fights and say he hasn't looked great. That's fine. Morales don't care. He don't do shit for others sake. He does shit for himself. He's always been like that. He knew he could beat Lorenzo, Alfaro and Limond just by going through the motions. So that's pretty much what he did. Damn the critics. He don't care. Morales ain't stupid. He knows he can't beat Maidana fighting the way he did the others. He's a proud man. He ain't going out there to lay down or make a fool of himself. He's going there to win.

Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
i do think erik is confident of winning this, i dont think this is just a money fight considering maidana is not a popular fighter anyway.

He didnt beat Diaz and thats the point that if he couldnt even beat Diaz back in the day when he still had abit of ability left then what chance does this older slower version have against a bigger better fighter in Maidana.
Maybe he has seen something he can exploit but if the Limond fight is anything to go by Erik doesnt have much left.

Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
Eric may box for a bit but will eventually get caught and stopped. I really hope I am wrong.

Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
He'll be alright. He may have warrior mentality. But he knows when to quit.
