David Haye's Best Win To Date?
David Haye has a lot of potential. What was his best win to date as a professional?
* Mistakenly, picked Ruiz, meant Valuev.
-
Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
Nikolay Valuev without a doubt.
-
Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
Before fighting Haye:
Ruiz - recently lost to Valuev and Chagaev, beat McCline.
Valuev - only lost to Haye, disputed win over Holyfield
Barrett - recently beat Tye Fields, Cliff Couser, lost to Rahman, Couser, Valuev
Enzo Mac - beat Braithwaite and Azzoui.
Mormeck - beat Virgil and Bell, lost to Bell.
Bonin - beat really no one, lost to Audley Harrison
Fragommeni - undefeated, beat no one of note,
-
Valuev definatley. It was his defining fight.
-
Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
Valeuv was his defining fight and impressive visually because of the size difference, but it was in reality a nothing win imo.
Having seen most of Valuev's fights, the only time he ever looked impressive was in beatin Sergiei Lyakovich, a top 20 heavyweight.
Ruiz hands down beat Valuev the first time they fought, Evander Holyfield beat him in the opinion of most. Larry Donald beat him in the opinion of many, Ruslan Chagaev beat him and got the decision.
So in reality beating a guy who lost to Larry Donald, John Ruiz, Ruslan Chagaev and an ancient Evander Holyfield is not much of a defining in imo.
I Don't believe Valuev has ever been a legitimate top 10 heavyweight. There are a bunch of guys out there who could beat, some of them at cruiser and even light heavy.
I guess Mormeck was his most credible win, it got him the undisputed cruiserweight crown and title of ring champ at the weight.
But I don't think Haye has beaten anybody that Solis, Adamek, Chambers, Povetkin or even Carl Thompson would have failed to beat.

Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
Mormeck. Valuev was and is shit, and the way Haye fought him bordered on embarrassing.

Agreed. Valuev is utter crap, I have no idea why Haye didn't open up more against him, it's not like the freakshow can punch. I seriously am not positive he could beat Manny Pacquiao in a 12 round fight. How would Valuev actually win? I might be stretching this a liiiitle but have no doubt there are all kinds of fighters who could have beaten him weighing well under 200 lbs.

I have posted this many times. I can't see anything other than a 12 round UD with Manny sweeping every round. It would be a case of Valuev standing in the centre of the ring reaching left then right like a giant school kid whilst some bullies throw his schoolbag over his head to each other, or more accurately in this analogy under his legs.

Lol. Valuev/Pacquiao would look like a dad slapping his son. ;D
I know Manny can run around Valuev for some rounds, but WTF if it was for running then put Usain Bolt not Pacquiao. ;D;D;D

Haye could have stopped him within a couple of rounds if he had actually opened up. The one time he connected solidly he hurt Valuev badly. That would have made a fucking real statement.
Manny Pacquiao would ruin Valuev.

Haha, glad someone actually agrees with me. I can't think of a more useless fighter to ever achieve notoriety like Valuev had. He's the only fighter in history I would actually make an underdog against men literally half his size. It's sad.

Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
Going into Mormeck's back yard and stopping him is Haye's best win for me. Can't think of many others
-
You guys do realize that Chagaev beat Valuev before the WBA title holder fought him right?
Maccarinelli was his biggest win ;D
-
Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
Mormeck, in Paris on a Don King show, he needed the knock out and got it to unify the decision.

Third that ;D
Mormeck was a fantastic peformance.
Got off the floor to get the stoppage.
Even the Fragommeni fight was better than the Valuev one.
Haye had a bad cut and it was pretty level till he battered him.
Cracking atmosphere that night in London too.
-
Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
I picked Valuev because of the size difference and how he rocked him. Mormeck is just as crap as Valuev if you ask me. Look at him now... should have lost to Oquendo, and SD with Ibragimov, not exactly setting the world on fire.
-
Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
I say Ruiz. He went into that fight without much sparring because of the cut he received in training from Flores and though he was past his best Ruiz was still pretty active but boring to watch and IMO he beat Valuev at least once.
Haye just pummelled him from round one until the fight was stopped and I still have to give credit to Ruiz for getting up from that one two Haye hit him with in the first round. I was sat about 10 rows back and the noise that the right hand made when it landed on Ruiz's head was sickening. I said to my girlfriend there and then bloody hell it's over.

Also Ruiz hurt him back didn't he? ;)
Why did no one mention the great fight vs Audley Harrison? That was just amazing, I'm sure a certain British boxing pundit was foaming at the mouth over that fight :vd:

Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
Def. beating The Marksman has been his best work and also one of his more exciting fights.

Once again a fight where he was hurt, but don't listen to me when I say he's got no chance vs Wlad.

Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
cant believe so many have picked the mormeck fight
yes he did it in the other guys backyard, but mormeck is nothing special, extremely clumsy when coming in and managed to drop haye out of nowhere
valuevs record speaks volumes over everyone elses, for that reason ive gone with him
-
Were he to stop Valuev I think more people would have picked that fight. I think he could have, but the way he chose to fight him prevented him from stopping Valuev.
Valuev had been hurt by several fighters with far less power than the WBA title holder, guys like Taras Bidenko and Monte Barrett rocked Valuev.

A Wlad fanboy calling someone out for not being agrressive enough? If Haye was from the US or for some reason the Ukraine??? you'd be jizzing into your belly button over him Lyle.
At least Bilbo's honest about why he dislikes him.

Turn about is fair play.....are you telling me that was his best, most exciting, most meaningful fight? I mean be consistent. You can mark my words, if Valuev had the balls to fight Wlad, Wlad WOULD stop him...FACT, I'd put a sig bet on Wlad STOPPING Valuev not just beating him.
Floyd Mayweather, Cris Arreola, Kelly Pavlik, etc are American, I don't like them...so you can fuck off with your assumptions

No Im not telling you it was his most exciting most meaningfull blah blah, if I was I would have said so.
Lyle Im affraid I dont believe you, sorry, you spend way too much time posting about the WBA title holder for it to be a coincidence. You are a closet mini Haymaker, bet you got a T-Shirt and everything huh?
Its Ok, admit it.
Oh and you have got to be shitting me. You telling me where to go with my assumtions? Thats the blackest of all pots calling the kettle black, Im talking Wesley Snipes Black here.

If you're not saying it was his best/most meaningful/exciting fight then what are you getting at princess? All I'm saying is the dude never planned to finish Valuev, he never even attempted to, you can tell when he "wobbled" Valuev that the WBA title holder was just as shocked as anyone else....I don't know about you but to me that signals that he's a mentally weak fighter which is probably why he talks so much trash, he's got to massage his ego to get prepared for a fight otherwise he won't think he can win.
I'm no fan of the WBA title holder, I wouldn't mind him as much if he backed his words up, but he doesn't he's the heavyweight version of Obama, sound and fury signifying nothing...a massive hype job.
-
Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
It's super WBA champion you lazy bastard! ;D I think his best fight to date was Carl Thompson.
-
Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
Big round of applause for Carl Thompson shit stopming /eubank 2 times then losing to Johnny Nelson via TKO... Consistency that will be his legacy!
-
Re: David Haye's Best Win To Date?
His best win isn't on the poll. It was Audley Harrison. I've said this many times, but did nobody see that jab Audley threw at Haye? C'mon guys, I ask you, has there ever been a better, more skillful or more meaningful punch thrown in a boxing ring? I was working that weekend so I didn't get to see the fight live, but if I ever see Audley on the street, I my just hand him the 15 hard earned pounds I would have given to Sky.
