Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Apparently, there is a clause in the contract that allows them to cancel a ppv if they deem it 'not value for money' and they have, therefore, cancelled the £14.99 to watch this fight and moved it to Sky Sports 3.
Most sense Sky have had in a long time. It is possibly one of the worst cards they have ever broadcast with one of the weakest main events I have ever seen. (with the exception of Haye/Harrison).
Good work Sky.

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
That's great news. It's a poor card and and definitely not a PPV-worthy main event. I've become more interested in it as its got closer, but still PPV for Khan-McCloskey was a joke from the beginning. Good to see Sky show some sense for once

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
where you read this - just been on skysports and can't see anything ??
can't see sky doing this at all
-
Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
That's like $25 USD to watch Khan beat up McCloskey? This should be on free broadcast/terrestrial television.
-
Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
I am truly over the god damn moon that I never parted with cash for a ticket for this card.

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
I will believe it when I see it.
-
Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
This was going to be the first ppv I hadn't paid for in years.
though I would have bought a prescott rematch
but neither Freddie or Amir would ;)

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Fuck me common sense prevails?? What a great move from Sky!!

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
I'm not feeling it being on SkySports 3, I'll still have to go to my dads
I have to admit I would have bought it, I've been really won over by Khan & I'd have rather paid for this (particularly had they added in Berto-Ortiz) than some of the other dirge put out.

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3

Furys team are still trying to get Rahman over here his trainer doesnt want him to take the fight and has said if he does he wont be in his corner.Rahman must be really out of shape to turn the fight down.

Wait a minute, wasn't this PPV the reason the Haye v Klit talks broke down in January???
Go figure!

You are right but looks like Wlad would not have been fit anyway so maybe Haye would have fought Vitali first, and we did not have to see the Solis fiasco.

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Khan will lose around a 1million by sky moving it to sky sports3, thats what i read in paper today.

He should fight on ITV then for free and get more commercial deal like Brute aftershave.
-
Im kinda pleased by this as it will maybe bring him down a peg or two, smug, arrogant c*nt!
-
The Fury vs Rapman fight is off, the big R won't travel from the states.
Khan's purse has also now dropped from over £1m to just £250k!
Say what you want about Haye, he sure knows how to promote a fight. Compare the coverage he gets to how often you've seen Khan on the TV recently. The average casual fan probably doesn't even know this fight is on.
Bad timing taking Mckloskey now too, undefeated, but unheard of. I think it will be a tricky points win for Khan.

All fighters that think that there fight should be automatically PPV no matter what the opposition should take a not of this. Haye v Audley was a joke, Sky should never have made that PPV.

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Anyone heard about this card moving onto Primetime?

It's off Sky completely, they said Khan's team rejected the move to SkySports 3. I read they're trying to do a deal with primetime. Not great timing to lose your tv deal a week before the fight
-
Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
What a mess. Bad move by Khan for not accepting the step down (and publicity) to be on Sky Sports 3. With an impressive performance it'd have reeled in so many casual fans.
With it on Primetime only fanatics will watch, especially with there being such little time to hype and advertise the fact it'll be on there.
Even if they're offering more to broadcoast it, better to get the exposure and the offer with Sky next time.
I won't be paying for this one. Wouldn't have on Sky either, mind.

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
SKY PPV to regular SKY to Primetime...
Babestation will be next.
-
Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Primetime ?? Is that the one Froch fights on. Well looks like I won't get to see this one at all. Farcical
Bad move all round. As I said from the start he should have fought Prescott to sell it !!
For those interested this is a key point discussed (twice due to techology failuere) on Fantana's first Radio Show that came out yesterday ;)
-
Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
If the fight goes to prime time only a very few hard core Khan fans are going to watch this fight as most pubs dont get primetime event in my experience.

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
ill get it, what else have i to do on a saturday night?
bet sky are a bit disapointed with all the work they have done with khan recently
fury isnt fighting at all is he? surely they could have found someone with a relatively high profile considering it is on a khan card

They offered him 40k to uppercut himself for 4 rounds, but he turned it down.

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Khan's team are idiots. They got greedy and got what they deserved. They offered the fight to ITV but they turned it down so they've whored themselves off to Primetime. This is the stupidest thing his team could've down. Burning bridges with Sky, as they may well have done with the nonsense, is going to cost them millions in the future and I think they're going to regret it. They should fuck off Amir Khan and replace him with Carl Froch.
-
Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Here's one of Khan's team talking about the split. I understand their gripe with being on skysports 3 and not skysports 1, because you don't get all the skysports channels in one package, some only have 1 and 4 or something. It does seem daft to not just suck it up and get on with it, sky is where the money's at in this country so if that affects future fights it might not be too good a move. Still I can't imagine it doing too well on Primetime. If sky aren't interested in showing Khan-Bradley that's stupidity on their part and I'd be disappointed, but as long as some broadcaster over here picks it up I'll pay for that one.

I just don't get the move to Primetime. You hardly ever see their advertisements anywhere, unless people are following it closely they'll not know what's happened with it, it's hardly mainstream. Surely skysports 3, even it it has less viewers than skysports 1 would get better ratings than Primetime.
I hope they at least show Froch if they're cutting Khan off. It looks like they're interested in showing him, but they haven't announced whether they'll be showing the Johnson fight yet.
Speaking of Froch, he's got an autobiography coming out in a few weeks. I'd rather see him bring one out when he's retired cos he's going to be missing the end to the Super Six, sort of like Calzaghe's where it ends with him saying he'd never fight Roy Jones because he was old and it wouldn't be worth it. Fair play to him though, just cashing in like most other athletes have been doing.

Agreed. Anyways I've heard Khan's family are the ones that are doing all the business deals. Fighting McCloskey on PPV? Only Pac, Mayweather, and a select few can get away with fighting no names and bums on PPV. Khan and his team drastically underestimated this.

It has nothing to do with McCloskey. Sky approved him. They already started to promote the fight and had filmed Beyond The Ropes (their version of 24/7). It went all wrong because the undercard fell apart, it is currently utter toilet, and clearly they didn't deem the main event strong enough to warrant a PPV on it's own.
-
Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Amir should fight for free on ITV or BBC and get some real exposure. What a grade A tit he is becoming in this fight.
-
Has anyone seen Khan do any promo for this fight other than on a Skysports boxing based show?
I haven't.
I think if you ask any caual fan, they won't even know this fight is hapoenig.

"I want to give my UK fans a chance to see me," said the WBA light-welterweight champion in a hastily arranged conference call, organised to announce Primetime TV's coverage of the bill.
"I could have gone back to America and fought there. I chose to come home and fight in front of my loyal fans who've followed me since the Olympics. I want to build my career in America but I did promise the UK fans I'd bring them a big fight. I'm doing this for my fan base. I'm not making as much as I did for my last few fights, but I'm doing it for them."
So this has nothing to do with money but he switches it from Sky PPV because he is going to lose money with it not being on PPV. The guy is a fucking clown. He had won a lot of people around with his performance against Maidana but all of this bullshit is going to turn people off of him again.

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Fight for free on ITV. (it rhymes if you say it fast enough) ;)

Re: Khan vs McCloskey moved from Sky PPV to Sky Sports 3
Maybe it is a shit fight, but in that case, why is everyone blaming Team Khan for being greedy? Sky were happy to sell this fight PPV until a few days ago. It is not Khan's fault the undercard fucked up.
So.. this is all Sky's fault for greenlighting a "shit" fight in the first place. All Team Khan have done is take their fight from one PPV station to another.
If he earns more from the Primetime PPV than the £100,000 offer from Sky he wins. Simple as.
