Provodnikov is exciting, all action, predictable and always coming forward going for the KO.
Never heard of Popoca before, but the fight should at least be interesting.
Don't see anything else that catches my eye on this card.

Provodnikov suffered his 1st loss a few weeks back to Mauricio Herrera, which was a bit of a surprise because Herrera isn't anything all that special. Hopefully Provodnikov learned from the loss and does better this time. Popoca is an undefeated (15-0) mexican, fighting out of Chicago, so it may be a decent scrap.
Buddy m is the best trainer never listened to .
Soft tacos in my face...tgif!
Interested to see how Provo rebounds...better find a 2nd gear
Never heard of either but I logged into XME and it's on so will watch with you guys.
Nice opener there, Quintero needs a little work pulling those hands back, nice focus though
These fuckers got somewhere to be ? Quick to me .
Ortiz doing a little acting there ;D
But I still think hes a serious threat to "Ko artist" :p Berto
Man rough start there. gross blood eye
Ortiz is weird to me. When you just see his face like during the weigh in, he looks like one mean, sullen punk like thug.
But then he opens his mouth and speaks and becomes all white smiles and boyish likeability like a young Oscar De La Hoya and you can imagine mums everywhere saying 'aww's he's too nice a boy for such a brutal sport'.
;D Exactly Bilbo
Love these obscure trainwreck walk out brawls like this. Sloppy but no silver spoons here...just fighting to pay the rent and have some highlights to show the friends and family ;D
Gavronski and Hendrix will both know they've been in a fight in the morning, brutal scrap.
Berto will beat the crap out of ortiz
For all of his advantages...size, hand speed, push, level of comp...Berto had better hammer him like a nail or take criticism longer it goes really. Berto is still a somewhat flawed fighter when you look below the surface, pretty catchable with shots down the middle and before its over I think Ortiz will test his chin accordingly.
I think both have some mental stir ups in spots but Ortiz really seems more and more manufactured, like he's trying to convince himself and could be his downfall even before the bell rings.
Has Provodnikov been told it is illegal to throw any sort bodyshot ??? Just one? Really
Good last round for Provodnikov, then Popoco come back and pours it on....good back and forth Ruslan seems like he took that last round off.
Dear Provo,
Slip the jab, roll with the right and counter with a right uppercut and left hook.
Popoca has a hell of a chin though
Popoca has one hell of a chin, Provodnikov caught him with everything but the kitchen sink in the 5th round, and he hardly slowed down. Provodnikov must be wondering WTF he has to do to get this guy out of there.
Nice shot from Provodnikov, you can really hear the shots these guys are throwing.
Question asked, question answered ....good finish
Brutal...not sure where's he's going but will be fun while getting there!!
Provo vs Canello. Make this fight :angryxo4:
Good fight. First time I've seen Provo, he is limited but easy to watch. Would definately watch him again. He has a sharp left hook but reaches a little with right hand (Although thats the shot that did it).
Nah, I think Canelo's too big for him he's been 154 no problem. The style matchup favors Canelo, he has the power advantage, and Provodnikov doesnt know how to take steps backwards. Would be entertaining while it lasted, but I only see Canelo busting up that face.
Provo is limited and has an odd style to pair with McGirt (that is his trainer right? I'm not just drunk am I?)
As for Berto-Ortiz, I had thought "Oh EASY fight for Andre" but Victor seems to have put some stuff behind him and oddly he's not giving up height or reach (I think) but if he can sneak in a good counter I think that's all it will take...he should feel stronger at this weight and I question Berto's chin.
I'm not sure Berto really has any of those advantages. I think his only advantage is he's so far demonstrated more resolve and the abiltiy to fight through adversity.
Ortiz really is a vicious fighter, and it wouldn't surprise me if he comes on the bigger man on the night. He's noticeably taller and it might be like when Guerrero moved up and dwarfed his higher weight opponent in Katsidis.
Got a feeling Ortiz might be a tough opponent. I expect Berto to win, but I don't think he's fought anyone as good as Ortiz. If he does't break mentally or allow Berto to impose his will, it could be a great fight.
Who else is gonna watch Eloy Perez Vs Rodriguez? Is Perez as average as his KO percentage indicates? Is he another Malignaggi in the making?
First time seeing a whole Eloy perez fight, I think his lack of power comes from his lack of reach possibly. Every time he seems to have to luunge in to land, and he is either not planted or at the end of his reach. He really looks small compared to this guy, who isnt some monster for the weight.
how is Perez doing? It seemed like really boring so i turned it off. How do you score it.?
Pretty one sided, Perez used his defense to win basically. He doesnt strike me as a very strong offensive fighter, but he is elusive. He seems very short, and has a small reach. He was fighting a lightweight who came down to super feather, but he still has short arms, it seems.
it seems to me like reach will be a problem after the first coouple rounds. but i see it was a shutout .
The guy he was fighting didnt jab very effectively.
Only saw the last 15 minutes, they put the fight on at 6 am, and do not repeat it. :(
I say size to Berto, well becuase its right there. He's weighed 145 lb his entire career and as much as jr middle and Ortiz has weighed 144lbs or less his entire career. Height wise has to be Ortiz and he def fights taller. In fairness if you look at the back spread on Ortiz no doubt his recent weights are pretty 'unofficial'. Taller leaner, Berto a squatier compact guy.
Handspeed I dont think its close. Shot for shot berto wide I believe.
Talking victory Collazo, Quintana and even a Urango do more for me then a completely used up Julio Diaz, Campbell and a absolutley spent force in Harris who had no business in the ring. Peterson was the 'fresher' of the bunch and going in fiquered to do more I believe. BOTH of these guys has some very carefully constructed confidence builder type matches. bertos title win alone was a farce of a challenger and I think both have looked iffy at times, Berto mainly in between rounds. Fights like a guy stuck between styles.
Ortiz takes alot of stuff and brings alot on himself but anyone who climbs back in the ropes after being pulverized like he was vs Maidana earns points for coming back from adversity in the big picture...now what happens next time he gets rocked badly by a fresh threat, we wil DEF find out tonight. Cannot totally discount experience gained from a loss like that and he will see ghosts...he'll either go forward or he'll go limp. I think he has tools to hurt Berto, and think he can win this one. Its really not his skills in question here, its what he has inside and between his ears. Man that was too long, I need to switch to decaf :p
