I've been singing Mares's praises since this tournament began. He wins on Saturday night.
I'm a big fan of "whack-whack-whack" Mares. A dedicated bodypuncher in the mold of Ruben Olivares or Chavez sr or Zarate.
But I fear King Kong might be too much.
I have my favorites for the bantamweight tournament but I am going to exercise my legs and make sure that I have all the snacks and beer ready for that night. This card is worth the effort.
I completely forgot this was happening this weekend. Should be a fun night of boxing. I'm taking Mares, and Perez to win.

Sciatica caused him to collapse? That doesn't seem right. I understand the problems a long flight can cause (both sciatica and dehydration leading to a clot or a collapse) but pain in the leg causing collapse?
The bigger problem (as a sciatica survivor) is that it reflects a disc problem and those don't go away quick.

I dont think they should scrap the card at all. Fill the spot with another match and have two quality cards. Darchinnyan and Perez and fit to go and should not have to wait. Btw is it me or does Vic look like he's bulked up big time?

Darchinyan caught Perez with some bombs in the first round, Perez is taking them well so far, but he gets knocked down and hurt in the 2nd. Vic is looking vicious tonight.
Both soaking up some big shots that round, great give and take. Vic's loading up & over reaching like a street fighter but man he's convinced he can hurt you with every single shot!!
If Vic doesn't punch himself out, or get gassed, he's got this one in the bag, I don't know what's keeping Perez upright.

I just got in and it turns out I missed the whole fight. I thought the card started at 7:30?

Fight stopped in 5th round due to an accidental headbutt, and goes to the scorecards - Vic wins a UD (50-44 x3)
Vic was on his way to knocking this mo-fo out, too bad it ended the way it did, dominate performance for Vic, which should put him back in the title picture.

Vic looked strong but a bit goofy footed. Glad he got the win as Perez was running out of relestate in there and couldn't deliver anything harmful. Hope Agbeko rebounds and he and Mares handle business asap.
