David Haye's Last 5 opponents
In reverse chron order:
Audley Harrison, age 39 (need I say more about this level of comp, other than that Harrison got beat by Dominick Guinn? You know, Dom the All-Time Great )
John Ruiz, age 38 1/2 (I cant believe this guy is still fighting)
Nicolai Valuev, age 36 1/2 (.....and he fought WHO??...46 year old Evander...whew...)
Monte Barrett, age 37 1/2 (....I cant believe this guy is still fighting....what was it, maybe 15 years ago he beat RJJ on a DQ??? Wow......he must still be fresh as a daisy, huh?)
Enzo Maccarinelli, OK he was only 28, so age isnt a factor in this one, but......(Maccarinelli fought WHO???? Wayne Braithwaithe?? :lickish:)
Sorry folks, this isn't pretty stiff competition, its more like he was fighting stiffs. Not looking too good for Haye vs Klitschko at all. This fight wont go 7 rounds, with Haye (best case scenario) being stopped on tremendous cuts and contusions, or (worst case scenario) Klitschko wiping him off the map in 4 rounds.

and other than the guy who had an entire foot and 90 odd pounds he knocked every single one of them out the moment he let his hands go
you can only beat whats infront of you, im not questioning that they werent exactly of the best quality but how many heavyweights are anymore??

Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
not his fault, but Im saying he is hyped-to-infinity, undeservedly.

you could look at it another way
audley (multimillion pound all british heavyweight title fight)
John Ruiz (his mandatory, been in with some of the best HWs of the last decade and never embarrassed, and had got better with age)
Valuev (WBA world champ, winning the title at only his 3rd fight at heavyweight)
monte (first fight at HW, stepping stone for all the top HWs)
enzo (very credible cruiserweight champ and for the unified undisputed cruiserweight championship)
not too bad i dont think, not many boxers in the world at the minute can claim such high profile fights for their last 5 fights
so stop complaining and enjoy the ride :)
-
Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
Thats a crap list. Crap, crap crap. Oh please. Oh PLEASE.
-
Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
I like the way you exclude Mormeck to win the title as undisputed champion, the rest is OK considering he has fought at 2 weights and holds a version of the title. If he beats the Klits, one after the other then that looks even more impressive.

Quite ironic that a Marciano fanatic should talk about somebody fighting 'Stiffs' ;)

Actually it IS his fault because his team handpicked those fighters.

Ruiz never was embarrassed? what about the shutout beating he took from a former Middleweight in Roy Jones? then James Toney who also repeated the same whooping (but came out positive for illegal substances, supposedly something to heal tear damage), and then there was Tua
and Valuev shouldn't have even had the strap due to the fact that a 46 year old Holyfield was robbed against him

valuev was the world champ and yep ruiz was never embarrassed, you can talk about the tua fight as an ebarrasment but that was the only real slip in a very successful carear at the top
like haye or not he is a worthy world champ, and an exciting one :)
ruiz was the mandatory which isnt hayes fault

Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
I'm as tough on Haye as anyone. But if he scared to fight the Ukranians, it's not like there is a lot left over in that division. What gets me is the WAY he's fought in big heavyweight fights.
He threw, on average, THIRTEEN punches per round against Valuev. THIRTEEN! Not exaclty what one would hope for from a guy trying to wrest a "title."
He was damned near paralyzed against a somnambulent Harrison for two rounds, it was awful.

how the hell is it not embarrassing to get your ass handed to you by a guy who's like 5 inches shorter than you and 40+ lbs lighter than you, and that was at the weigh in, lord knows how much on fight night

Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
I would love it if Wlad knocks Haye out with a jab in the opening round.

Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
Yeah I confused M Griffin with M Barrett............sorry.
Anyway, 13 punches per round? really? :o
Marciano used to throw 76 punches per round on average from rounds1-7, then the windmill really got going to about 100 punches per round from 8-15. Watch it and count.
Fighters dont have the ferocity, veracity, and alacrity these days.

haye would knock marciano out in a round

that night was set up for jones to win, even if ruiz would have won jones would have won
Jones wasnt any everyday small guy either
Haye is a good champ man, like it or lump it and he has a very real chance of beating wlad :)

Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
Wlad vs Haye is on , its time for the talking to stop and lets see who wins.
Personally i like both fighters , but i think its the most exciting fight for a while in the hw division.
Both punchers , both dodgy chins.
-
Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
A guy can fight relatively mediocre opposition for a period of time and still prove himself to be a great fighter in the end. We'll find out if Haye is one of those types when he fights Wlad.
Personally, I think Wlad will beat him handily, but Haye's got more than a puncher's chance. He's fast, hits hard, and Wlad's chin, which I think is better than most people give him credit for, is far from ironclad.

ha ha good gag, are you a stand up?
what have you got against the fella? why dont you like him? whether his whole carear he has been protected and only fought has bins or every single fight has been against superman who cares, the klits reign has been completely dull and boring for the last few years, david haye has given us somethjing to look forward to in the hw division
give him a pat on the back for that. And he was unified undisputed cruiserweight champ in spectacular style and heavyweight champ in only his 3rd fight at the weight and he has very good power and he's looked very exciting

the real word to describe the Klitschko's reign is DOMINANT, they've both cleaned out the division and have knocked out nearly everyone they face, they might not fight like they're going to war but apart from the Imbrogimov fight neither has had a more boring fight than Haye/Valuev, scratch that even the Imbrogimov fight wasn't as boring as that farce and it had a clear winner also, Haye gets the flack he deserves, he's talked a hell of a lot more than he's done, he's talking about saving the division when he's barely done anything, hell i'd say Adamek has already a more impressive record at HW than Haye and that's without a title, now he's lined up for a title fight and he doesn't get talked bad about cause he's earned his shot with his fists and not his mouth

yep klits have been dominant, do you think that wlads fights (in general) are entertaining? have you been at all entertained by the hw scene over the last few years? are you a little more excited about it now? do you think that that is because of wlad's style of fighting? have we maybe got a little something to be thankful to haye about?
it is my opinion that the hw scene has never been worse (in my boxing lifetime) not because of the ability of the champs but their style
having said that vitali would get into a scrap if he had to

have i thought that Haye has been anymore exciting than Wlad with his choice of opposition? no, Wlad's fights haven't all been boring but they have all been against the top guys in the HW division, and no i'm not anymore excited about the HW division i still rank it as one of the weakest divisions, and no i have nothing to be thankful to Haye about, he's done nothing but flap his gums and fight bums
if he manages to beat a Klitschko well he deserves all the praise in the world, because right now both of them (Vitali and Wlad) are GREAT FIGHTERS, nothing to do with hating Haye, just he hasn't done shit to deserve the type of praise you're hell bent on everyone giving him

Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
I agree with Eric's sentiment. If Haye were not around, what heavyweight fight would we be talking about? Adamek vs Vitali? Im not so sure many people are excited about the outcome there.
Or maybe we would be fired up about Povetkin or Dimitrenko? I doubt this.
And with Solis on recovery and no known date he will be back in action, there is just not much excitement.

solis has all the tallent to gicve a klit a tough night but none of the charisma
so his challenge came and went and nobody noticed
Haye has both the tallent and the charisma and the world is watching

Re: David Haye's Last 5 opponents
Yes all of Haye's last opponants have been shit. But so have the Klits, so I don't pay much attention.
Like I've said before. There are 4 fighters in the heavyweight division. Haye, Wlad, Vit and Ademek. Everyone else is fat old and shit. Nuff said.

yep klits have been dominant, do you think that wlads fights (in general) are entertaining? have you been at all entertained by the hw scene over the last few years? are you a little more excited about it now? do you think that that is because of wlad's style of fighting? have we maybe got a little something to be thankful to haye about?
it is my opinion that the hw scene has never been worse (in my boxing lifetime) not because of the ability of the champs but their style
having said that vitali would get into a scrap if he had to
have i thought that Haye has been anymore exciting than Wlad with his choice of opposition? no, Wlad's fights haven't all been boring but they have all been against the top guys in the HW division, and no i'm not anymore excited about the HW division i still rank it as one of the weakest divisions, and no
i have nothing to be thankful to Haye about, he's done nothing but flap his gums and fight bums
if he manages to beat a Klitschko well he deserves all the praise in the world, because right now both of them (Vitali and Wlad) are GREAT FIGHTERS, nothing to do with hating
Haye, just he hasn't done shit to deserve the type of praise you're hell bent on everyone giving him
Exactly, what Haye fight are we suppose to get excited about Barrett, Ruiz, Valuev, Harrison? Haye is the most over-hyped/overrated pug in boxing.
