RIP Sir Henry.
Just saw this on BBC website, sad news, a true great.
I'm shocked and quite sad at the moment :(
Henry was and always will be a class act and a british boxing legend.
A British great...
Shocked, a part of the boxing establishment, great left hook put down the greatest with it!
RIP
No way!
May he RIP...
He's easily up until now the 2nd greatest British HW ever.
What comes to mind 1st when I think of Henry is the Ali fight and 2nd that his face was usually covered in blood.
The 2nd Henry fight I remember seeing was vs. Folley a bloodbath from the start.
Henry fought at a crazy pace and just light off Folley for several rounds.
Rip Sir Henry cooper
Dammit. Good luck on ur journey Henry
End of an era RIP Henry.
Gave Ali a tough fight. Good fighter. RIP
R.I.P Sir Henry
Thats too bad. What little I saw of him, he seemed to be an engaging friendly man. He was a self professed royalist as well.
Only man to knockout Muhammad Ali.
Essentially had Ali knocked out and Dundee had to rip open Ali's glove delaying the fight and giving Ali about 10 to 15 minutes to recover.
Of course since then they've edited the footage so it appears like it took only a minute.;D
R.I.P Legend

How history would've been different had Cooper scored the KO against Ali way back in 1963, there would be no Liston fight in 1964? The entire Ali image and persona would be altered, the implications are enormous when you think about it. It's good to know that Ali visited Cooper whenever in England and as recently as 2 years ago. Now Ali should visit Joe and heal those wounds once and for all. RIP Enry.
Rip 'Enry.

RIP `enery, you brought pleasure to so many lives
RIP - Good (though unsuprising) to see so many great comments.
A class act FACT!
i saw him on the tv not too long ago and thought he looked frail
what did he die of does anyone know?
what a fella
Legend.
He had a good innings and floored Ali, that's all you can ask for in life really. It's a shame that Cooper bled so easily.
Our Henry is a true legend of british boxing, he was a true gent always had something good to say about boxing and dropped some funny lines in interview........when once asked by a female reported " mr henry do you think boxing has been bad to your looks?..i mean look at your nose for example? " Our Henry repled " well madam boxing my excuse for looking like this...whats yours for looking like you
very sad day for british boxing, good fighter, great man.
Rest in peace, 'Enery.
R.I.P Henry Cooper his story of knocking down Muhammad Ali, was one of the first boxing stories i learned of, and it really got me interested in looking up boxing.
By the way he should of got DQ win over Muhammad Ali, because smelling salts were not allowed in UK at that time i heard, dunno if its true or not. Perhaps one of the old timers will know.
Here's Muhammad Ali on Sir Henry Cooper's passing...

R.I.P sir Henry Cooper you were a great man and a true British legend.
When I was about 10 or 11 years old I was in the library looking for books on boxing and came across Henry Cooper's "How To..." book. It has been at least 35 years and my left hook is still my best punch and I did the exercises he showed in the book almost daily for probably a quarter century.
Sad news to hear after i came back from a brief holiday.R.I.P Henry Cooper,British legend!!
That's a myth. Here's the SI account of the fight and nothing of the sort was mentioned.
