What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
How would that shake up the boxing world? Would the PBF fight still be as big, given that the general public watched floyd toy with JMM for 12 rounds?

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
It won't happen. As much as I respect him, Marquez is seriously on the slide and he's going to get knocked out.
But, if it did happen, I don't know that it would change all that much. It would certainly increase Marquez status, but I think a lot of people would just sort of shrug and say that he always had a style to trouble Pac and that he was just too small for Floyd.
-
Well IF it happened Floyd would just brag about it.
BUT it won't happen, Pac will destroy JMM, he's hurt him before he'll certainly bring his A game for this fight.
-
I dnt see very good thingz happening to Marquez in thiz fight. If Katsidiz hurt him wat do u think a 147 pound Manny will do to him? Itz juzz common sense an Marquez hasnt got any better since der last fight..
-
Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
Marquez was soundly beaten by Floyd and was lucky to get past Kats, this will be the easiest of all the Pacman fights.

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
I would most likely run into the streets naked with a knife and fork in my hands bellowing "Give the head of Manny Pacquiao to me on a plate. This man needs to eat!"
I think it would be a pretty big deal if Marquez pulled off the upset. At his age and at the weight it is all against him.
Style make fights though, if Marquez can beat Pac it doesn't automatically mean that Mayweather can, but you would think it would indicate so.

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
Also, if Marquez wins I'd wager that I'll have to hand out about 13 bans in the aftermath.

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
JMM is an amazing fighter but just cannot see it at the higher weight but if JMM did it the he would be the greatest Mexican fighter ever.
-
Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
Pac has been hurt by marquez before, his weight wont make much difference.

Why was he lucky to get by Kats? He clearly was winning almost every round of that fight besides the knockdown.

How can you say weight won't make a difference? First of all, many of the times Pacquiao was "hurt" by punches earlier in his career it was from him having poor balance. Like that left hook in the second JMM fight early on. It looks like it nearly floored him, but it was just him not having his feet beneath him. JMM caught him numerous times in such situations. I'm sure Pacquiao felt JMM power because he became more gunshy, but he wasn't really ever wobbled by JMM. Also with the size increase which Pacquiao has done so much more effectively, is that he can take big shots from larger guys now. He was taking flush punches from Margarito, Clottey, COtto, and even Mosley a few times. Two of them have respectable welterweight power, and the other two have exceptional power. Mosley as welterweight hits harder than JMM did in any of his divisions. I'm not saying it's impossible for Marquez to hurt or stop Pacquiao, but it will be much harder than before.

Define "hurt". Like knocking down Pac 4 times or something?

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
JMM is one of my favorite fighters, but i don't see it happening. It should be a great fight none the less. But we are talking about "if" here.
So if JMM beats pac, i would say Pac-Floyd will never happen. Floyd along with Khan and the rest of the young guys, Bradley, Maidana, Alexander etc. would be lining up to fight him so they can say they beat the guy who beat pac and then be the new boxing superstar.

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
If JMM beats Pac, it will be my first wrong prediction in all of pac's fights.
It won't happen though coz Pac will, without mercy, knock out JMM between the 3rd or 7th round.:cool::cool:

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
Well if it did happen I would most likely put all my Mariachi Vargas albums on repeat

The knockdown was severe, lucky he can take a punch. If that was Khan..game over!

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
If Marquez does beat Manny then he should retire. It would be the ultimate script. Why spoil it with sequels and diminishing returns? Just get on the horse and ride into the sunset like Indiana Jones at the end of the last crusade. Leave Manny in the collapsing mountain with all the Nazi's.
-
Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
If JMM wins he deserves a huge party! It would mean he is the greatest mexican fighter of all time!
It would make him the first mexican to have 4 division titles.
Most importantly he would be beating Mexicos public enemy number 1 ;D
-
Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
he'll probably be the 2nd greatest if not the greatest mexican champ of all time. i highly doubt though with the disappointment that Pac got from this Mosley debacle Pac probably will be unforgiving on this fight.

I doubt that Marquez would prefer that over $10,000,000.00 guarantee plus PPV's.

Haha, it sounds like it doesn't it? I should have left it at riding into the sunset. The Nazi's bit leaves all kinds of weird images.

It would be a shame to continue. The ultimate romantic gesture would be to defeat the nemesis and say "the story is over". The trouble with boxing is that there are always a few too many chapters and those usually cover the end of career slide. Jones Jr springs readily to mind. In fact his end of career is taking up a rather tragic second volume.

LOL now whats to say Marquez doesnt hit harder moving up in weight as well? Can you prove this...the fight against Mayweather doesnt coz he barely landed. Off balance? Please...he was hurt. Dont make out like Pac is some god that cant be hurt. None of the guys that have fought pac in the higher weight divisions have the timing of Marquez. Kostya Tszyu always said he wasnt a powerful puncher, he said it was the fact he could time his punches right. Timing beats speed. Dont even dare use mosley as an example of testing Pacs chin, Mosley didnt fucking land flush and barely threw a punch. I think Margarito hurt Pac and I think Cotto hurt pac so hes not indestructable. And to the person who said did marquez knock pac down 4 times....well how awesome is pac, he couldnt finish a guy he has knocked down 4 times. That just says how good Marquez is. Pac hasnt become faster, he just looks faster against bigger opponents. His power comes from the fact people dont see his punches coming. Marquez is use to this because he has already fought him twice. Anyone who writes off JMM is mad, the man will come to fight and he will give it to pac like no one else has in quite sometime. Not saying he wins the fight but I dont think he gets blown away like you all think.

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
What would happen is most likely what happened the last 2 times Marquez beat him. The bought and paid for judges will most likely save Pacquiao from another loss.

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
The shit I would post and say in those posts would;
1) Make me lose my MOD badge
2) Make every Pac fan hate me
3) Make me spam the shit out of every single person on here who posted that JMM had no chance.
4) Lastly I'd probably end up getting banned from this place
:D

Why not be more of risk taker and just predict a Pac TKO between the 1st & 12th? :D

Re: What happens if JMM soundly beats Pacman?
the problem for marquez is that anything above 135pds and his power that bothered pac in the 126ers just isnt going to affect him as much
not as big an issue for pacquiao because he has managed to transfer the same amount of speed and agression in his punches as he has gone up the weights.
I dont see this fight being the classic of the first 2 just because of the fact pac will be able to handle marquezs agression far better
