In the US he has to prove "intent" to defame or it will get thrown out at the hearing. But in Canada "intent" is presumed. Where it might not be worth his time, is even if the statements were proven false, it doesn't mean Pascal will be held liable. For that he has to prove actual damages. He might actually end up paying a Lawyer more than he would be awarded if anything.

I will lose all faith in my country (what little I have left), if even a penny of tax-payer money is spent hearing this case. Luckily, I don't think it will happen.

If I am correct, PAscal never said he took PEDS, he just asked why he wouldn't take the test if he was clean. ON that base, I think Hopkins can't win and as it has been stated, it is just a matter of EGO.

I think PBF's crusade to Fairness has just spiraled into a crusade of pissing and b!tching. This sh!t will be contagious, more and more will ask for tests, more and more with turn them down and round and round we go!

Hopkins is not a guy who has ever been under suspision... he's not phenomenally powerfully, fast and he doesn't have an insane work rate.
He's were he is now due to a great boxing brain, great technique and great muscle memory and discpipline... PEDs don't give that.
He shouldn't rise to Pascal... it was prefight games... the more it's dragged out the more and the longer people will talk about it and the more credence he's giving it too.

suing someone in canada isn't like suing someone in the usa...its going to get you peanuts.
but pascal did scream several times into the mic at the press conference that bernard was a cheater and was on steroids.

also, pascal sold "are you willing to take the test" t-shirts in the stadium the night of the fight.
no legal bearing...but pretty stupid considering its completely unfounded and was a poor attempt to get inside hopkins head during the press conference. clearly didn't work.
or maybe since he made a profit from the slander there is a legal consequence.

Exactly, this is punching people on the head for a living. It isn't a sport blessed with too many finishing school types. You say nasty things to get under skin and hype a fight. It has always been that way. You have to roll with the punches in boxing.
If everyone started suing the moment someone runs their mouth then it would start to get a bit silly.

He is a fucking cheater, how many other fighters drop to all fours and crawl around the rind during a round, pretending to have been hit low. What about all the holding, elbows and leading with the head? Thats all cheating. Pascal never said he was taking anything, he asked a simple question "will you take the tests?". For whatever reason, Hopkins couldnt answer him yes or no:-\
All governing bodies should now make these tests mandatory. The more sophisticated peds are getting over the years, the longer fighters careers are carrying on, the higher the weight classes they are able to climb. You have to be gullible and naive to believe there is no cheating going on. Not only that, too many very high profile fighters have already been caught cheating but still people want to believe that its all just good nutrition and the same training fighterrs have been doing for decades. Its not like skill levels have risen either;)
